sure. upper 30s, only around 40 degrees. cold, yes. but not as cold as it's going to be. temperatures will be falling through the course of the day. in rockville, it's going to hoverer in the next couple hours at 40s and then go downward. light rain in the metro area. might be one or two snowflakes mixing in. top side of the beltway from 270 out to 66 along tyson's corner. watch out for an isolated snowflake or two. no accumulation expected. temperatures will generally be above freezing for most of the afternoon. byomorrow morning, overnight temperatures tonight and tomorrow, back into the teens and low 20s. a very cold start tomorrow. and another refreeze coming up tomorrow night. we're done with the rain chances pretty soon. the refreeze issues will continue. here's melissa mollet with the update. good morning, outer loop at braddock road still has the closure here.

proposed levee system. the meeting start at 6:30 at huntington community center. officials say it will protect homes from flooding caused by major storms. today, a family is making funeral plans for a man bethesda. he died on a crash on 270. he was on the exit from 70 to 220 when he hit a guard rail. police say thomas had some kind of medical emergency before that crash. he was only 38 years old. a major storm over the weekend seriously damaged one northern virginia school. and it's caught problems for students at another. take a look at this scene here. the roof collapsed over the m s music room at st. timothy catholic school. contractors were assessing the damage. no word on when that will be reopened even after the snow is cleared. now, take a look at the huge

snow pile on olney lane in fairfax county. residents are frustrated to see the freshly cleared sidewalks blocked with plows of snow. that could cause a problem for students who have to walk. >> obviously, we had cleared it off for people to use it. it's much safer for the kid, et cetera, people who walk here to stay on the sidewalks. >> there's no school for fairfax county neighborhoods today. streets like these in chantilly, one suv was stopped by a mound of snow. and if you are looking for your mail, it could be on its way. mail collection and deliveries have restarted. make sure you clear off your mailbox and keep the sidewalks free of snow and ice, or the mail carrier will not be able to deliver to your home or business. today, our area is getting big help removing the snow from our streets. four jumbo snowblowers and 30 workers will arrive from

connecticut today. 93 left the state last night. those crews are deployed under the emergency management assistance compact. it's a state-to-state agreement where governors provide help to one another in times of natural disaster. >> we would have another state come up and help us. years back when we had a big blizzard, when we can't have this equipment we have now, we got help. >> those crews expect to work around the clock for the next four to five days. we told you that uber would have surge pricing before and after the storm. one woman's bill might surprise you. bonnie lee told "the washington post" her trip from stoling to reagan national airport caused her $640. neighbors say the rate is normally $50 to $70. uber said based on the surge pricing and the customer's request for an suv, the pricing was correct. however, uber credited lee's

private. something they first talked about in december. and that there's no agenda. he is certainly gains ground and in some areas exceeding hillary clinton in the polls where she's now out with a new ad, drawing young people. and that's where bernie sand serious making such an impact. >> tracie potts on capitol hill, thank you, tracie. 4:47 right now. all metro lines will run when the system opens in about 15 minutes. we got word from metro about 45 minutes ago that service to the silver line has been fully restored. let's get to transportation reporter adam tuss who is live at the west falls church location. >> reporter: good morning, aaron. that was the big question, would the silver line get back up and running this morning. now, we know it will be running. let me walk you around and show you what metro is dealing with. a lot of snow around here. they've done a good job digging out the bus shelters. but then taking a look at the parking lot. all of the snow that's still

here. there's still a huge cleanup effort that's going on in those metro stations to push all of the snow away. so things not exactly back to normal, 100%. be mindful of that this morning. about today, here's what you need to know, the restoration comes after extensive cleanup on that part of the metro system. systemwide on metro rail. trains expected to run every eight minutes. bus service will be on a moderate service plan. that means 160 bus routes will be necin effect. a lot of snow and ice out here. there's the possibility that some of that snow and ice could fall on to the third rail. when that happens, there could be an issue with equipment that connects with trains to the third rail and tries to draw power from the third rail, if that connection is lost. that means potentially trains could lose power. let's just keep our fingers crossed that everything works out. again, silver line service back up and running. back to you, guys.

>> thank you, adam. it's now 4:48. three more people in virginia have died following this blizzard of 2016. the deaths are being attributed to car accidents and shoveling. in all, 48 people have died from the storm. if you've been waiting to appeal a ticket, some courts and governments are open today. the prince george's county government will open on time with liberal leave in place. same story in arlington and loudoun and falls church. the montgomery county government is opening at 10:00 today. trying to get around in prince george's county may be tough and messy. trach a look at this view from a police helicopter. the county's department of public works tells us it hopes to have all roads passable by tonight at 9:00. a spokesperson also confirmed the failure of the county's online tracking system. >> to interface, asou know, an historic event, and we had a high volume of users logging into the system. and the system crashed.

>> it's important to know, though, that the roads when they say they're passable under county standards does not necessarily mean they're completely clear. you will need to keep an eye out for snow and ice patches and reduced lanes. >> it sounds like a roof of snow was sliding off. it was loud. it was -- the wall was shaking. >> that is what it sounds like when your neighbor's roof collapses. this happened in northwest d.c. last night. fire crews say the second floor roof of the home there on 18th street in veneer heights came crashing down on the first floor. important to note here, the house was under correction. the houses on either side of that home were damaged. they had to be evacuated because they weren't structurally sound. the storm may be over but for plow drivers there's still a lot of work ahead. some drivers are working overtime to get the job done. many working back-to-back 12-hour shifts. in frederick county, using

equipments from as far away as mismanages and south carolina. the county had 100 trucks and called in 200 more to get the job done. cruise are focusing on getting all lanes to 70 and 270 fully open. they will then move on to the state routes. today, we expect to learn more about how many people are homeless in d.c. the annual point in time homeless count. it takes place tomorrow. local officials say they got a good sense of that number over the weekend when blizzard 2016 drove a lot of people into shelters. the count is part of a national effort to reduce the number of people living on the streets. all right. it's a pretty mild start to our morning, but that is going to change and that really worries me because we're going to start dealing with ice. the snow has packed down in some places, right, chuck? >> yeah, it's certainly going to be a cold start tomorrow morning and the next couple of mornings. keep that in mind.

let's go to max 1 and take a check there. storm 4 radar on it. indeed, light rain this morning. mainly south and eat of i-95 and route 1. if you're on the east side of route 1, you definitely have a lot better answer that of getting rained on early this morning. rain drops from buoy and clinton and waldorf, nothing all that heavy. but there are steadier rain showers south of town. steadier showers near fredericksburg. route 17, montrose and tapa handic. it's a drying trend, it's done raining from leesburg to frederick to hagerstown. temperatures are above freezing this morning. upper 30s and low 40s. here's future weather. there goes the last of the rain out of central maryland by 9:00 this morning. the morning commute will not be terribly impacted after 5:30, quarter to 6:00.

overnight that sets the stage for a very solid refreeze. future temperatures. find your hometown on the map. 35 in martinsburg. 34 in gaithersburg. 37 in st. mary's county. watch what happens, though, between 4:30 and 8:30 tonight, everybody drops below freezing. as soon as the sun goes down that's when the freeze threat moves in. by tomorrow, temperatures in teens and 20s will make everything a solid block of ice. a quick peek at the forecast, cold tomorrow morning, a couple of mornings here, three or below. and then the weekend, up and next week, back to the 50s. >> breaking news on the beltway. still have the problem outer loop with braddock road. spoke to amelia segal. she got us video. we'll see that in a couple minutes.

participated on the second day likely because of extra media and robocalls. 70% to 80% of city school students qualify for free or reduced meals. officials consider making changes to the iconic niagara falls. officials will consider replacing a 160-year-old bridge that links the mainland to the falls. replacing that bridge would mean reducing the water on the american side of the falls to a trickle. in russia, ice is warmer than usual there making difficult ice fishing conditions. more than 40 people had to be rescued after a piece of ice they were fishing off of split away from the shore. it took emergency officials hours to get them back to the shore. some tips now if you're planning to file a damage claim

for damages for insurance after this weekend's blizzard. these are coming from the maryland insurance administration. pictures of video of damage as soon as possible. take the pictures or video of the problems right away. you can do it safely. you should make any repairs to keep the damage from getting any worse as well. blizzard 2016 is passed. but the cleanup is far from over, of course. the national park service says the amount of service it has to remove from the maul, the monument, walk creek parkway as i found out yesterday. all of that could fill the washington monument 18 times. that 62,000 tons of snow. the park service if you pile up that snow and wanted to measure it, you would need a pat collins snow stick that is nearly two miles high. a little perspective there. your personal yard is bad enough for you, imagine having to be the one to remove literally tons sn
