here investigating. from what we were told around 3:00 this afternoon, a citizen directed a police officer to a person who had been shot. you can see police at first over here in the area of a couple houses. they have been walking back and forth. it's not nope at this point if that's where the victim was found. he was shot. he was later taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. prince george county police on scene for three hours piecing this together to figure out the circumstances surrounding this homicide. as we get more information, we'll pass it on to you, a $25,000 reward offered in the case. back to you. >> thank you so much. right now, we want to get to amelia siegle. >> and, erika, a lot of snow melt today with the temperatures in the 40s, it's now 41, and temperatures tonight not as cold

washington app and search storm team 4. a developing story in denver now. one person dead and several others injured after a shooting and stabbing at a motorcycle expo. police now say it appeared to be a fight between two bike gangs. local hospital says they are treating nine people who were injured. right now, police say they are still looking for suspects and tell us that the motorcycle expo is still ongoing, but with heavy security. the hospital where most patients were taken is on lockdown as a precaution. to iowa now and last minute push to get out the vote. candidates out in force this weekend hoping toncourage people to caucus for the first time. we have more from des moines. ♪ >> reporter: ted cruz in ames, iowa at a rally with time running out. >> we have 53 hours until the caucus. >> call friends, get them to

this morning. the 18-year-old from columbia, maryland and attends virginia tech. the virginia state police, fbi, and blacksburg police searching for her since wednesday. he's charged with felony abduction. the search over or two escaped inmates on the run after a brazen prison break in california. a tip from a woman who spotted the stolen van led san francisco police to the inmates. police arrested them this morning. a third escapee caught friday. they broke out about two weeks ago after cutting a hole in a metal grate crawling through plumbing tunnels, and then grappling down the side of the prison using bed sheets as a rope. workers at a 7-11 have a lot of cleaning up to do as you see the pictures there. that's a car that went slamming through the glass window landing halfway into the store. check out the damage it caused.

this was before 8:00 a.m. on east west highway. fortunately, nobody was injured. police are trying to figure out exactly how this happened. a cold-hearted thief swipes thousands of dollars in boy scout equipment. you're going to hear the scouts' tearful plea to get their stuff back, and a blizzard caused a pipe burst in a local curling club badly damaging the ice. why the club is in a race

the blizzard caused damage to the ice in laurel, a pipe burst monday creating a giant hole in the ice in the middle of the curling season, forcing the all-volunteer club to close. it's going to be a labor intensive effort to get all this cleaned up, and it's supposed to be costly as well. they are trying to get it all done before a big tournament in just over a week. >> it leaks water all over our ice, curling ice is specially made and groomed, and it put a giant hole in it, closing our club. we've had volunteers working 16 or more hours a day to restore our ice. today, they are scraping off the top layer after they've done a controlled melt, and they are making it look like playable ice again. >> you can open the nbc washington app for information on how to help the curling club. search the keyword "curling." virginia republicans now say they do not want primary voters to have to sign a loyalty oath

we lost everything. these were all of our things. well, we had them for years. >> more than $10,000 worth of boy scout supplies lost after a thief stole the group's trailerment the trailer taken from a church parking lot in orange county, florida. police say the thief cut the padlock securing the trailer and just drove off. there was tents, koo incooking supplies, and fundraising materials as well. >> you thought it was just something that nobody would care about, but this is something that means a lot to many people. >> there were no security cameras at the church to catch

the criminal. they are still looking for the trailer. she worked at the hampton inn for more than a decade, but a hotel worker says she couldn't get to work during the blizzard and got fired in the middle of the storm. the hotel is not commenting tonight, and as news 4 reports, the worker is desperate for a new job. >> reporter: the snow piles outside the home are almost as tall as she is, but most of us, the blizzard was an inconvenience, and it cost her her job because she didn't work during the storm. how things look now, all the snow piled up, a week after the storm, you can imagine the difficulty she would have had getting out of here in the height of things. that saturday, she cleared the first step and fell down. >> just like that. >> reporter: her subdivision yet to be cleared. her employer, hampton inn suites employer, told her to be on stand by or call from work, and

she said she couldn't get out of the neighborhood. >> they told her there were people in the hotel with trucks to pick her up. >> reporter: she waited, they never called in. >> she called, same thing. >> reporter: finally, her son called her job, and the message he got was devastating to her. >> she told me son, i'm sorry, but she's out of a job now. >> reporter: working here for 12 years, despite having a chronically ill husband and problem with her knees, never called in sick nor complaints about work, and she pled her case. >> a good employee, but i can't do anything for her. >> reporter: news 4 reached out to hampton ip suites, and they said they were not commenting on the situation. now she's resigned to the fact that she's out of a job. she says she's still owed vacation pay that she now desperately needs, and she says there's other reasons they are not coming forward. >> she says, i guess i wish the

hotel would appreciate the people they have there. >> reporter: in leesburg, news 4. we've been on the phones, and we sent them e-mails as well to the hotel's corporate officer regarding the story. we'll let you know what we learn. and now, your storm team 4 forecast. >> and as we look ahead to the second half of our week, the weather having a low impact on your sunday. temperatures will be about 10 degrees warmer, however, we'll have more cloud cover than today. today, really nice with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the 40s. tomorrow, temperatures ten degrees warmer, melting tomorrow, and a lot of melting for the upcoming workweek, but i'm keeping a close eye on wednesday. the snow melt with rain on wednesday could lead to flooding concerns. more on that in a moment, but right now, temperatures for the most part, still in the 40s. 41 in washington, 43 in frederick and mainly clear skies and will stay clear overnight tonight with a mix of clouds and sun throughout the day tomorrow.

7:00 a.m., isolated areas of ice, especially in the more rural locations. i don't think it'll be a huge concern in the metro area. we start off at 36 degrees, above freezing, and by the midday hours, already flirting with the 50 degree mark. oh high tomorrow of 55 hits at 3:00 in the afternoon. tomorrow evening, temperature around 52 degrees. you can take the dog for a pleasant walk outdoors. the weather impact for tomorrow walking around still tough in some spots, but improving each day. great day to hit the slopes tomorrow night. conditions not a bad day, get the car washed, but know rain is in the forecast potentially monday and definitely wednesday. here's the school day forecast monday. we get back into the routine at the bus stop, and temperatures in the mid-40s, not the heaviest winter coat, and recess gets an a with a temperature of 53 degrees and dry at that point. any early morning sun gives way to mostly cloudy skies, and by

dismiss s dismissal, showers are possible. temperatures 60 degrees, about 15 degrees above normal. tuesday, cooler, but dry. tuesday, ground hog day. partly sunny skies, and temperature at 50 degrees. for wednesday, a high temperature of 65, very mild, unfortunately, you're not able to enjoy the temperatures. it's looking like a high likelihood of rain pretty much from start to finish. here are the details on wednesday. the flooding all dependent on how much snow melts prior to wednesday, but another concern could be if snow is blocking storm drains wednesday leading to flooding especially in urban areas, so rainfall on wednesday looking likely with the heaviest rain later in the day, around half inch to inch of rain possible, and, again, keeping a close eye on that flood threat. thursday, we return to dry conditions, but cooler, a high of 47, 42 friday, next saturday, erika, the first weekend of february looking dry right now, and a high temperature of 43

hey there, folks, a fun weekend in sports. you have the pro bowl in hawaii, nhl all-star game in nashville. the games, just for fun, in college hoops, however, if you're not winning now, you might not play march mad neness. no. 11 in the big dance, but they needed a furious late game rally midweek to beat wake forest, traveling to 16th ranked louisville today. foot on the gas early. the dunk, and up four. later in the first half, turning up that defense. that's what they are known for. the steal, and now malcom lays it in, two game high 13 points, doesn't sound like it lot, but uva didn't need it, up 15 at the half. and that's amtny cleaning up the offensive glass with 13 for uva.
