>> police are looking for whoever is responsible for a shooting that left four people hurt in southeast. it happened on butler street in anacostia. that's where we find molette green. >> good morning. d.c. police cleared the scene a short while ago and tell me they will interview those gun shot victims to get a clear motive and identify suspects. neighbors here tell me they want some long-term solutions. crime scene tape shut down this part of 16th and butler streets in southeast for an all-night police investigation that lasted past the morning rush. this is where gun fire struck four people, two juveniles among the victims including a girl. >> what's going on? >> around about 8:30, maybe 8:45 all of a sudden i heard gun shots.

>> an investigation into an explosion on an airplane on flight. that blast made a hole in a cabin. officials say one person died. they are working to determine if a man's body found on the ground near where the explosion happened is the person who died. so far they found no criminal evidence for the blast but have not ruled out a bomb. security is a major concern as the denver broncos prepare to play the carolina panthers in super bowl 50 this weekend. officials are urging everyone attending to report any suspicious activities. preparations for the game have been in the works three years. there is a command center, housing federal, state and local law enforcement. after the break, the debate on how much students in our area should be allowed to get out and play.

we are following a developing story overseas where investigators in somalia are trying to find out what caused a mid-air explosion in a jet. left a hole inside the aircraft and one passenger is still missing. here is nbc's kier simmons. >> reporter: the airline was still climbing when a hole was blown in the fuselage. how it happened is a mystery. passengers may not have survived if the plane had been at a higher altitude than 12,000 feet. officials confirmed one passenger is missing. witnesses say he was sucked out of the plane. pictures suggest the skin of the airbus 321 was blown outward, indicating an explosion from inside. passengers describe seeing smoke. >> i just saw white smoke.

a few second i realized where it was. once it calmed down we saw a hole in the plane. >> reporter: in the past, u.s.-bound flights have been targeted with bombs smuggled into the cabin. in this case, officials have not ruled out a failure of the ashlt. we are aware of the reports about the airline flight. airbus has a team on stand by ready to join the investigation, but is waiting for an official request from authorities in somalia. >> a turkish air flight was canceled monday and most transferred to tuesday's ill-fated flight. they weren't meant to be on that plane and then escape with their lives. developing right now, we'll learn how florida officials plan to deal with the zika virus in their state.

governor rick scott declared a health emergency in four counties after at least nine cases of the virus were found. health officials say people traveling to affected countries contracted the mosquito-born illness. back home a virginia mother who contracted the virus has a warning for other moms. in november she came down with symptoms of the virus including joint pain and a rash. doctors say this mother of three has the first reported case in virginia. she stopped sharing drinks and food with friends and family. >> began with just a swollen lymph node which tipped me off something was coming and progressed to body aches and a really weird rash and joint pain. >> baker is urging mothers-to-be

dennis wideman has been suspended 20 games after knocking down a linesman during a game last week. the nhlpa filed an appeal citing medical evidence. he struck the lineman in nashville and stands to lose more than $500,000 in salary as a result of the suspension. the suspension is the second longest in league history for abusing an official. let's move on. katy perry. her mobile game was a flop. now the makers have signed taylor swift. they announced plans to develop a new mobile game later this year.
