more. d.c.'s snow team is fully deployed. more than 200 trucks pre-treated with salt and salt. the federal government is open this morning. we've just learned that from opm and the agency says employees do have the option for unscheduled telework or up scheduled leave today. an update on metrobus service this morning, again, we just learned that buses will operate on a normal schedule today. that is a change. metro decided to suspend the moderate snow plan early this morning. mta suspending mobility service until noon. i'm angie goff at the live desk. an unfolding situation in germany after two trains collide. here is video we got of the scene. just terrible. four people are dead, more than 100 are hurt after the two passenger trains hit each other in the southern part of the country. we know that hundreds of rescuers are on the scene. and that one of the trains flew off the tracks after the crash.

the train company did release a statement, they say as of right now, they cannot tell us what caused the accident. that is still not clear. this is a developing story that we'll continue to follow throughout the morning. it is now 4:33. voters are already coming in in the nation's first primary. the tradition ale midnight lotting gave the lead to kasich and four to donald trump. it has the distinction of correctly predicting the eventual nominee since 1968. now let's take a look at where the candidates stand. bernie sanders is in the lead, projected to come out with a double digit win over hillary clinton. as for the former secretary of state, a win in new hampshire is

highly unlikely for her. the campaign would consider a small loss to sanders even a good result. now to the republicans. donald trump still in the lead, but he needs a win tonight after his iowa loss. right now he's leading by an average of 16 points behind trump is marco rubio. now, after finishing strong in iowa, he is looking to narrow the race from three candidates to two as frontrunners. lastly, ted cruz, he is hoping for a number two finish tonight. he needs new hampshire to show that voters can -- to show voters that he can win in a nonevangelical state. >> those standings could all change when a new survey monkey poll comes out later this morning. check this with us at 6:00 for the results of that poll. as of last night, nearly 20% of new hampshire voters had not decided who to vote for. donald trump spent his last day campaigning before the primary pushing people to get out to the polls. hillary clinton and bernie sanders tried to sway voters

happen to some of these routes. >> reporter: good morning. we're talking about the omni ride and omni link buses. you see them between virginia and the district of columbia. we're in woodbridge and there is a bus that will take you all the way to the navy yard. all that is in jeopardy because of something that has been good for motorists, you might say every silver lining has a cloud. this is all about declining glen prices. when gas prices go down, that means there is less revenue from the gas tax for systems like this. so they're saying they have a $9.2 million deficit coming up this year, so that meeps raising in fares and cutting back on routes. look at cutting back the omni link buses, elimination of some routes like a capitol hill route or dale city to d.c. route. other routes that run throughout the up to might not go into neighborhoods.

prices. experts fearing it will affect the economy down to personal lo households. we can tell you more now about the oil slick. the oil leak began last week and since then, workers have been trying to contain the spill and clean it up. well, we've now learned that one goose has died from the contamination and the substance apparently contains fuel oil. we'll continue to monitor the situation and give you any new updates. new information this morning on an apparent gas explosion in prince william county yesterday. there were two volunteer fireghters inside the woodbridge home at the time.the firefighters and the family are demanding answers about how this happened. >> what is frustrating is they told my parents and me that it was fine that we were in the house. >> a washington gas spokesman says until their investigation is complete, he cannot comment on what might have caused the explosion or about what the

family was told about the gas odor. if you've been missing some mail in virginia, it may have been tossed out. trashing the mail behind an alexandria apartment building -- federal investigators say a u.s. postal worker was caught trashing mail. court records say the employee was criticized for slow performance and he did not want to fall behind schedule. he is suspected of dumping promotional mail. but if convicted, he could face up to six months in prison. so are you look forward to a romantic spot for valentine's day? alexandria is the most romanity city in the country. how about that? criteria include purchases per capita of romance novels and relationship books. romantic comedies and town loads of romantic music. what constitutes romantic music? depends who you are, right? alexandria topped the annual list in 2010 and again in 2011.

snow mainly on grassy areas. but it's coming town hard enough and the flakes are big enough according to tom kierein where the roads are getting a little slushy. you can see here on the temperature map, everybody above freezing this morning. so even though we're above freezing, a little pocket of moderate to heavy snow here. northern half of montgomery county, so along 270 here at gaithersburg to damascus over to olney, just be on the lookout early this morning for the big, big half dollar size snowflakes mixing in with the raindrops. mostly rain on the south side of the metro down into prince george's county and southern maryland. colder aloft in northern montgomery county. so planning out the day, a mix of rain and snow mainly north of town during the morning hours. but then even has a chance for that period of rain and snowflakes and rain and snowflakes off and on throughout the entire day. here is future weather and i'll walk you through the day. 9:00 a.m., rain and snow. it looks like mostly snow on the

commuter depiction of it, but again there will be raindrops mixing in. here is 11:00 a.m., rain and snow through the metro area. by 1:00, a little break in the action. could get a little better chance for light rain southern maryland between about 4:00 and 6:00. and then after the sun goes down, it gets cold enough where we could see more in the way of a rain/snow mix. colder air settling in after midnight, so a chance for a few flurries late tonight into early tomorrow. tomorrow a mix of clouds and sunshine. a little breezy at times. and we could have passing flurries at almost anytime during the day tomorrow. the next big change in the weather arrives wednesday into thursday. the leading edge of some much colder air wednesday afternoon mid-30s, by early 30s morning, we're down into the low 20s and look at how cold your "7-day forecast" is going to get. 30s today and tomorrow with hit and miss raindrops and snowflakes. turner much cold other thursday, friday morning into the teens and staying below freezing all

chuck bell will have the latest on the advisories in effect right now in just a few minutes. montgomery college will close two of its child care centers and students are fighting back. the college has announced it will shut down its takoma park and rockville daycare centers. it comes after those sites lost more than $400,000. some students are angry because those centers are offered at a discount and that makes it affordable for some kids to go to school. the germantown location will remain open, but some students say it's inconvenient with their class schedules. >> i think it was selfish and not something that considered the students. >> tuition was very low. we were way under market. and that is part of the reason it's lost a lot of money over the years. montgomery college officials say it will not reverse the decision. but plans to work with families to find them a new daycare location. today families affected by the water crisis in flint,

michigan are taking their anger to d.c. several groups from missouri to michigan are speaking at the national press club this morning. they say the epa should have acted in response to concerns about led in the water in flint and the radioactive landfill at a suburb of st. louis. some are speaking out against the water crisis and one flint family is filing a lawsuit today. sophia's parts say she has elevated levels of lead in her bloodstream. she's two years old. her family is suing several town and state leaders for negligence. sophia's father is worried the lead has caused irreversible damage. >> is she going to be adhd, will she have learning disabilities. >> this is the first individual lawsuit over the water crisis. lead contaminated the town's water two years ago when flint switched to a nearby river as
