this morning, fairfax county police are looking into that two-hour window to find the suspect. they are charged with the shooting of a man while riding on the green line metro train. 19-year-old andrew brody and a 16-year-old will be in court. police say the 16-year-old was the shooter and they want him tried as an adult. police say the two suspects were identified after looking at station surveillance video. and the shooting has shaken many who depend on metro for their daily commute. more on what you can expect for rider safety coming up later on "news4 today." and the subject of a congressional hearing with commits from both the house and senate committee to see if the cdc is doing everything possible to stop the spread of the zika

>> nbc's tracie potts is on capitol hill. tracie, good morning to you. donald trump racking up delegates, likely to get even more on super tuesday. what a big win in nevada? >> yeah, remember, we see a lot of voting but we talk a lot about delegates because technically, that's what it takes to win the nomination. keep this number in mind, 1,237. 1237 is what it takes to win the nomination. right now, donald trump is ahead. he's only got 79 delegates. a week from now, that is going to change. super tuesday, he's got a dozen states out there voting awards delegates and that's where more than half of the delegates needed for this nomination are going to be awarded. let's look at the map, some of them are awarded proportionally. some are awarded to call. ohio and virginia are one of the biggest winn

but they don't know until after next tuesday. but some can decide the delegate to convince them for the nomination. but we still have a long way ahead. however, super tuesday is key, because after that, it's going to get much clearer what the nomination is. right now, based on polling in some of those states and based on what we're seeing, there are a lot of ways for donald trump to win this nomination. >> and marco rubio and ted cruz are very close to other the other candidates. what can we expect from them? >> the first vote will be the minnesota vote. the midwest is there. but a lot of tose states are southern states. donald trump performed very well. it's interesting to see if texas following suit. >> tracie potts, live on capitol hill. tracie, thank you. 4:37. your time right now. we turn tohe

good morning, i'm storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell. just after 4:41 on a wednesday morning. temperatures now 35 in martinsburg, 36 in hagerstown. 42 in washington. cold and wet outside. and all of these numbers are above the freezing mark where there could be one or two isolated pockets below freezing. in an abundance of caution, the weather service has a freeze advisory for this morning. northern maryland, outside of west virginia. these pockets of freezing rain and drizzle are possible. no heavy rain out there just yet, the kiddos will need the insulated jackets, umbrellas and showers and risk for heavy thunderstorms coming our way this afternoon.

the top of the beltway. take a look at this. this is going to get, no doubt, much worse here as the morning progresses. beltway at georgia avenue. on the outer loop, we have a jackknifed tractor trailer blocking the lanes. on the innerloop, debris has gone into those innerloop lanes. we're learning more details into a disturbing case of a child sex abuse and pornography at prince george's elementary school including how a concerned family member may have prevented more children from being abused. he now faces federal charges for producing child pornography. an an uncle went through his nephew's phones and pictures and discovered what was going on. that's exactly what a u.s. attorney said parents should be doing to protect their children.

him videos in a chat. he would then hide the evidence on his phone. a basketball coach from a private school is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student. george logan coached athletes at the highland school in warrenington, virginia. police say logan started sexting with a 16-year-old student at that school back in january. she eventually went to the coach's home in manassas where he had sexual contact with her. police are warning parents to keep a close eye on what your kids are doing. >> you never know what your child may be going through that she's really not or he's not telling you about. >> the school sent a letter to parents saying quote, they are keeping the students' well-being at the front of their efforts. logan is no longer at that school. a prince george's deputy is charged with hitting his wife with

according to the office, he threatened her with a gun. the report said it happened in charles county last week. ba tina posted bond. two men forced their way into a dorm room. university police say gunman forced his way into a room when a student answered the door. that man was followed by a second man. the robbery happened sunday evening in montgomery hall. students are now being warned to watch who they allow into the residence halls. and police are investigating an indecent exposure report at the university as well. this happened about 8:00 in the men's restroom inside the library. a male reported a man exposed himself there. the man ran away when the victim shouted at him. it is 4:49. metro riders are shaken up after a shooting on a green line train. this is the first time any metro

happening on a train. metro police plan to keep efforts to keep people safe. it requires more officers because the crime pattern has shifted in that direction. they also want to put officers in brighter uniforms. >> we want to change our appearance a little bit. spruce it up. >> d.c.'s deputy mayor for public safety says the city is focused more than ever on metro safety and has confidence in the transit police. and safety concerns this morning after a gas leak at a basement in prince william county. this happened earlier this month in the woodbridge area. crews were outside the house checking a gas line when there was an explosion. no one was hurt there. in the coming months, washington gas is expected to replace some 800 gas lines in the area. the process could take a year and a half. today, bad storms down south, not sure whether i

there's a light pocket of rain and drizzle lifting northbound here. temperatures are just barely above freezing. the weather service issued that freeze rain advisory just to give you a heads-up because we can't say for sure whether there won't be a pocket or two around here. but what a powerhouse of a storm system here. severe weather out ahead of it, across the carolinas, georgia and florida. you're flying down into savannah, georgia or the sunshine state, severe weather there. we're going from winter this morning to springlike severe weather chances later on this afternoon. severe weather chances. the biggest threat will be a chance for strong to potentially damaging wind gusts to some of these storms. at least some chance for a tornado, especially southern maryland. northern neck of virginia, fredericksburg area. heavy rain on that saturated ground fr

4 traffic. good morning, breaking news here at the top of the beltway. we're talking about the beltway at georgia avenue. we are seeing slowdowns on the map here on the outerloop. the crash tractor trailer jackknifed is what we're hearing. three lanes block on the outer loop. then on the inner loop, some of the concrete from the barrier wall has gone into the lanes. from there, folks are hitting that concrete causing issues with vehicles on the inner loop as well. southbound, reports of that accident, 65 and 95, overall, don't have any major problems there. 95, a live look at prince william parkway looking pretty good. a little bit of sheen there. going to have to deal with that as well. back in a few minutes. it's a problem that impacted a lot of people. it's even blamed for some deaths. this morning, we know the case for

will not file a lawsuit against the city for now because of a law that says no one is entitled to a 911 response. they plan to start an online petition to have that law changed. an explanation this morning for the deadly takata air bag explosions that forever changed 150 families. an independent testing coalition found multiple factors in the explosion, among them moisture and high humidity. researchers found them to inflate with too much and caused explosions. responsible for kill ten people and hurting 139 others nationwide. there's been a lot of talk about your phone's privacy lately and now we're learning how apple plans to fight the fbi in court. the company's lawyers will ask a judge to ask congress as to whether it should break into a suspect terrorist's phone. that's according to the associated
