area. planned new crash eastbound toll road before 66 being reported there. overall beltway nice and green. inner loop and outer loop rolling along just fine. 95 at prince william, normal volume. hopefully a shot from chopper coming up. a lot of us, thousands, use to get to work every day. it's deteriorating right under your wheels. and today a new report says the arlington memorial bridge needs to be completely reconstructed. the 84-year-old bridge connects arlington to the district right over the potomac river. megan mcgrath live along the bridge now with more on what could happen without those crucial repairs. >> reporter: the worst case scenario here would be that the bridge would have to be closed to traffic completely. we've known that the memorial bridge has been in bad shape for a while. steel supports on the underside of the bridge have eroded to the point where they'r

going across. we already have lane closures on the bridge as well as weight restrictions. and now comes word that if a major overhaul isn't done and done to the tune of $250 million, that in five years, the memorial bridge would have to be closed to traffic. so shut down completely only used for pedestrian traffic which needless to say that would be a major, major rob for commuters. now the reconstruction again $250 million, but the park service says that they don't have the monday to do that sort of thing. in fact they say the lack of money has gotten us into this mess in the first place, that maintenance on the bridge as well as other road projects has been deferred for years because of funding issues and that's why we find ourselves in this predicament. now, 68,000 vehicles use the memorial bridge every single day. you can only imagine the impact that we would see during the rush hour commute if they actually did have

bridge completely to traffic. the park service scrambling to find the money to do the repairs. back to you. today the case of six baltimore police officers charged in freddie gray's death will go before the maryland court of appeals. the central issue is whether officer william porter can be forced to testify against his fellow officers. gray suffered a severe spinal injury while in police custody and later died. porter says a judge violated his rights by ordering him to testify in two other trials. his lawyers want that decision reversed. the court could issue a ruling as soon as this afternoon or it could take months. the trials for all of the officers are hold until a decision is reached. fairfax county police are thankful this morning that no officers were injured after a man shot at them. homeowners hid in their basements during a police standoff in franconia on wednesday.

police say 19-year-old syed javid fired shots at officers on larkspur drive. officers fired bean bag projectiles back at javid and he was eventually taken down by a police dog. the county police chief says the confrontation was similar to what happened in prince william county. >> officer ashley begguindon ga her life for the same type of event and this is what we do every day nationwide as a profession p. >> police say they were called to the home after an argument between javid and his father. he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. no one else was hurt. today another step in an effort to protect students in prince george's county public schools. the student safety task force will meet today to continue discussing school safety as security policies and procedures. that task force was set up after former school aid deonte carraway was charged with sexually abusing students and making child pornography.

community. a prince george's county family wants to bury their loved one but can't because her body is missing. the wrong body was sent from the prince george's county hospital sflr to a funeral home last week. today the family will meet with hospital firnls to try to figure out what happened. news 4 pat collins has been following the story and asking the question no one seems to be able to answer. >> reporter: where is the body of virginia gray. no one really knows for sure. you see there was supposed to be a funeral for her last weekend but it was called off after her grandchildren came to the viewing, looked into the casket and said that's not our grandmother. now, the funeral home says the toe tag on the body said have a are a gray. they say the toe tag was placed on the bed by the hospital. but the grandchildren say it's the wrong woman. it may take dna tests to figure it all out. there are a lot of moving parts in the story. w

was not legal for the citations to be mailed. that is all about to change. h molette green is this arlington with details. >> reporter: good morning. we just saw the first of several school buses to come through here this morning. it's all about the safety of the children and a just approved senate bill clears the path to close the loophole and allow for citations to actually come in the mail. the existing law did not provide for that, only hand delivered tickets. now, all of this came about when the virginia state attorney general raised his concerns. so in the meantime, arlington and other school districts had to back down or back off issuing fines from those cameras attached to the school bus arms. we'll have to wait until july 1 gs before this actually takes effect. but safety, more asafety measurs on the way in the school zones.

back to you. shocking video you may find disturbing. it shows a baltimore school police officer hitting an kicking a young man inside a school. this video was shot at the reach partnership school in east baltimore on tuesday. the acting police chief says the two officers seen in that video are were responding to reports of intruders on campus. he says the victim was not a student. the victim's attorney says he was a student. the two officers in that video as well as the long time school police chief are all on administrative leave this morning. this morning friends and family will remember the lives of the three people killed in that terrible crash on river road over the weekend. services for michael, allesandra and thomas buarque de macedo are set for 11:00 this morning. the services are taking place at catholic university of america. a public reception will follow at 3:00 this afternoon. instead of flowers, the family has asked for contributions to a scholarship fund. death in

today, though, nothing to worry about for most of the day today. 20s this morning, 30s at lunchtime, 40s for highs. back into the 30s by 7:00 tonight. for tomorrow, we start off with a combination of wet rain and snow early, then turn cloudy and dry later on in the day. future weather here is the leading edge of the snow chance after about 7:30, 8:00 tonight. most of the snow likely between 6:00 a.m. and midnight tomorrow. as far as snowfall amounts, here is our forecast. 1 to 2 inches or more washington areas west and north. could have a little pocket of 2 to 3 inches or more southern ro prince george's county down into southern maryland. again the timing has me most concerned. temperatures will be marginally cold, just cold enough to get a little snow. but may or may not stick much on the roads. melissa mollett, up to 72 next wednesday. >> let's keep it just like that. 301 northbound before 4, allow a little extra time. a crash in the right lane that is really adding to
