right now on "news4" midday, the latest and when it arrives and the impacts on the region. in just 30 minutes mitt romney is expected to speak in utah. the purpose, to tell americans that donald trump must be defeated. i'm barbara harrison with the war of words on the damaging speech. and a trial that will have a big impact on all six officers charged in the death of freddie gray. i'm melissa mollet. the latest winter storm advisory. that's when you can anticipate snow across the area. it's going to be a slushy wet her snow and we're not talking about a lot of accumulations, but adjust because of the timing especially impacting the morning rush, i think delays are likely. maybe a few cancellations possible but as far as school districts go, i this i the better idea is to probably go with delays because this system will be out of here by the mid morning, midday hours at the latest. here's the latest closer check of the "storm team 4" radar. we're dry right now. in ten minutes i'll show you the future weather and when timing moves in to your neighborhood, barbara. >> thank you. today, the case of the six officers involved in the baltimore, maryland, case of freddie gray will go before the

porter says the judge violated his rights by ordering him to testify in two of the other trials. his lawyers want that decision reversed. the court could issue a ruling as soon as this afternoon or it could take several months. the trial is on hold on a decision is reached. good morning. i'm erika gonzalez from the live desk with breaking news. a public works employee gunned down inside a dpw building. we're keeping a close eye on this story out of baltimore. around 7:30 this morning police say a 34-year-old man was shot multiple times inside a locker room area of the dpw maintenance building. the victim died at the hospital. police say this is a targetted attack and they've got, quote, good leads as to who was behind this shooting. we'll bric you that when we get it. back to you. the fairfax county police are thankful no one w

please say the 19-year-old fired shots at officers on larkspur drive. officers fired beanbag projectiles at jahvid. he was eventually taken down by a police dog. the confrontation was similar to what happened in prince william county. >> officer ashley guindon gave her life in the line of duty for the same type of event. this is what we do every day in the fairfax county police didn't and nationwide as a profession. >> police say they were called to the home after an argument between jahvid and his father. jahvid was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. no one else was hurt. getting stuck in trafficking we already know, is a huge headache when going over the potomac river. imagine in a bridge was shut down. >> reporter: you can see the bridge behind me. the problem is primarily the center part. the draw bridge portion of the bridge is falling apart and unless it's rebuilt it will have to be closed in about five years. imagine rush hour without the memorial bridge. more than 68,000 cars use the crossing every day. close it and the impact would be big. >> it's already gridlocked with the bridge. you take one bridge away, it's going shut the city down. >> we know the memorial bridge has been in bad shape for some period of time. look at these rusted steel beams but now word comes that things are getting worse and fachlt inspections show accelerated deterioration. without a complete overhaul the national parks system says the bridge will have to be closed to traffic in five years.

here. it's with unof the key bridges coming into the city. >> emergency lain repairs and weight restrictions have been under way for months but experts say it's a band aide. the concrete decking that is supposed to be 11 inches thick is turning to rock and gravel, and a $250 million rebuild is needed if the bridge is to remain open. the problem is the park service doesn't have the money. >> it's not a good thing. it's awawful. fix it. >> reporter: and the parks service says it's to blame for this mess as well as maintenance to roads around the country has been deferred because they didn't have the money and now things are coming to a head. back to you all in the studio. >> thank you, megan. there will be only four candidates on the gop debate stage tonight. dr. ben carson says

participate. he's not suspending his kpanl but he doesn't see a way forward. the front-runner himself may face tough questions from the fox news moderator after skipping the last gop debate the network hosted. tonight's debate starts at 9:00. and in less than 30 minutes we expect mm-hmm to slam the current gop front-runner. romney is speaking at the university of utah around 11:30 this morning. we got our hands on an early excerpt of the speech. in it he calls trump not only a phoney but that he has neither the temperament to be the president. trump swung back and called him two-faced and failed candidate. more right here on "news4" midday. the debate is over. it took an unexpected compromise, but now two men who made an impact on prince william county are getting schools named after them.

that was the lay plaus when they named schools after them. hampton will have a new elementary school named after him. he's the only county firefighter ever to die on the job. hampton is a retired colonel and philanthropist who donated. the county will renan godwin middle school after him. we have snow on the mind.
