lightly. we talked to the woman who was home when police caught her suspect under her porch. and is there really new evidence of the o.j. simpson case? why the former lead investigators says he's not convinced. seven high schools in virginia received threats from robo calls. some are public, some private. new tonight, shomari stone talks with a local safety expert about how big a problem this is. >> good evening, chris. right now, we're here outside the potomac school. one of the seven schools targeted throughout the day. nearly a dozen more received bomb threats in new jersey. tonight, we talked to that director of the school safety organization. it's nonprofit. she says tha

and disruptive. >> i think it's a trend that is really disturbing. and it's a national issue. >> reporter: dr. amy clinger and her daughter amanda started education school safety network over the past six years. they're not surprised to hear about the bomb threats in virginia. >> unfortunately, it's pretty much business as usual. that's what we've been seeing every school day this whole academic year. averaging 8 to 10 bomb threats a day. >> receiving bomb threats by automated image. >> who is responsible? >> i wish i knew that. there's a lot of investigation that needs to take place. >> tonight, there is investigation that some received in new jersey today. officers found nothing and determined the threats aren't credible in both states. >> law enforcement and first responders have a lot of training. >> the schools can't take any chances. >> w

police found him. >> it was a chaotic scene northeast about 4:30 this afternoon. police were running everywhere. looking for a man who had jumped out of this lexus suv. it's described as a vehicle of interest about a mile away on coral street. >> this woman, who asked we not identify her, owns the nearby home where police found the suspect hiding under a wooden deck. >>. >> it was just a tall, dark guy with braids on top of his head. and they took him out of the yard. he was behind the shed. >> it was the end of a wild rush hour pursuit through district streets. news 4 has leshed that

police officer h in his cruisered on the way to work spotted the suv driving erratically. when he put on his flashin lights to stop the vehicle, it took off. the pursuit stretched from southeast to northeast. a passenger in one of those cars was injured and taken to a local hospital. at this time, the man who was arrested here today was charged only with assault on a police officer from something that occurred while he was being arrested. >> tonight, able to show your support for two police officers injured in a shooting in prince william county this weekend.

still close to the boston area right off the coast. this is the next storm that we're watching. look how small this is. we'll continue to provide us with some cloud cover. maybe some sun early. and then, around 2:00, call it mostly cloudy. through 11:00, we're fine. watch what happens here. around 3:00 in the morning, we see that band come through. and it's snow to the north and rain down to the south. so even in d.c., we could see a little snow. don't be surprised if you're walking around at 3:00 a.m., don't know why, but if you're walking around at 3:00 a.m., you may see some snow showers. by 8:00 in the morning, most of it is out of here. i'm not expecting any accumulation out of this. and, by friday or sunday afternoon, we're looking at s

sunshine and a much nicer day. most of sunday is going to be fine. tomorrow, still cool. not bad. 49 fredericksburg, 46 in leesburg. as we move on through the day tomorrow, this weekend looking good for just about everything. exercise, just cool. hiking, biking, wear extra layers. skiing, great. everybody saw snow from this last night. rockville, out towards pentagon city. all looking good for that, too. it's going to be on the low side. and then look at the next couple of days. 48 on sunday. only a 48% chance of a shower early east of i-95. and then 60 on monday, 70 on tuesday, 73 on wednesday, 75 on thursday. we will see a chance for showers on thursday. that will leave us with a little cooler weather on friday. but cooler at 68 is not bad at all. >> we need some warmer weather. >> i'll do anything for that three days in the 70s.

but as doug said before the break, sure as heck wasn't a good one. breaking down the wiz and the caps. >> there was a loot of promise for tonight. the caps had been one of the best regular-season teams in the afl for post season success, that's a different story. the caps face a team that eliminated them last year. looking for a third straight win over new york. down to the second, put on the attack. mike richards throws a couple on net and then everything goes crazy. a couple of whacks at it originally ruled no goal. hard to tell. calm for the review. caps haven't lost this season. late in the period, caps are rushing in, no doubt about this one. shifter period. caps get carely with the puck.

there was a lot of sweat and a few tears downtown tonight. but it was all for a good cause. >> every penny from the fundraiser helps research ple moral yal sloan kettering. nearly a thousand people are r participating through the weekend. scott kelly says his skins sometimes feels like it's burning now that he's back on earth. that's what a year of being weightless will do to you. something as simple as sitting down will take adjustment. he's already back to his original height after gaining an inch or so in zero gravity because of all of the weight taking on his spine. that's going to do it for us. my wife is due tonight.
