that shooting. he was arrested outside of the white house two days ago for throwing objects over the white house fence. yesterday odom's family put out a statement saying they were thankful he was arrested, quote, we truly thankful to god he is safe and no one else was injured. the pastor's family says they're excited their father can concentrate on getting better without worrying about his family's safety. maryland has some of the toughest gun laws in the country, but it seems there are some loopholes that immediate to be closed. those on both sides of the debate demonstrated yesterday. some want long guns to be registered and weapons illegally owned by domestic offenders to be confiscated. other gun owners say they have a second amendment right to bear arms. advocates say it's not the laws that are the problem, they say the existing laws are not being enforced.

school police officers are now the out on bond after they were arrested and charged with assault. the charges stem from this cellphone video that shows officer spence alledgedly slapping and kicking a baltimore student. he's charged with assault and child abuse. the other officer in the video was also arrested partly because she told spence, quote, you need to smack him because he's got too much mouth. the officers were placed on leave and baltimore schools says that it is reviewing their hiring and training procedures. close to 800 cases of water have come into our area to help residents of flint, michigan. the state's attorney dropped off ten cases on wednesday. we told you last week about the volunteer emt leading the effort there in the county. four fire stations and a police station are accepting donations. you can find the complete list on the nbc washington app, just search donate water. they hope to fill a tractor trailer in the next two weeks. aas

caused the explosion that damaged 36 businesses in seattle. firefighters received a call for a possible gas leak yesterday morning. the blast happened shortly after they arrived. nine firefighters were injured. we're learning they all have thousand been released from the hospital. and scammers are demanding money for taxes that you don't owe. this morning coming from the irs and the fbi, so here is how the scam works. somebody calls you and claims that they're from the irs. the caller then says they filed a lawsuit and start asking you for money. one woman has received three calls and n. as many weeks. so far some 900,000 people report getting one of those calls, about 5,000 people have actually given the scammers money. >> how hard is to catch these guys? >> it's sometimes very difficult because you have people not in the united states, shell companies being used. >> if you get a call like this, the u.s. attorney says you should hang up and report the call to the fbi.
