there were into two 911 calls. one came from a home and then the second one from a neighboring house, that caller reporting the sound of gunshots. when officers arrived, they found a man in the backyard of a home. they say that he was suffering from trauma to the upper body. that's how they phrased it. he later died at an area hospital. now, police have been asking folks in the neighborhood to stay inside their homes. and that's not necessarily because they think that there is a danger to the community. rather, they are trying to pre-receiver tpre preserve the scene. they have a lot of investigating to do. it's dwaark and they want to wa until the sun comes up so they can take a look in the daylight before they allow neighbors to mill about in the immediate area. not a lot of other information being released at this time. but certainly polic

who heard or saw anything to come forward, give them a call. back to you. i'm erika gonzalez at the live desk. we're following breaking news out of norfolk, virginia. a man shot and killed by police. you're looking at a few pictures from the scene there. the reporter on that scene saying that officials are telling him this was a, quote, violent and wanted tell lfelon. it happened around 4:00 a.m. in an area called bay view, close to a couple of churches. again, a man shot and killed by police. officials saying this is a violent and wanted felon. as soon as we get more information, we'll wribring to . now an iteam investigation. federal prosecutors looking into allegations that a former virginia teacher behaved inappropriately with students. >> christopher rademacher resigned from his job

high school and his teaching license was revoked after a trip to germany in 2014. the iteam scott macfarlane uncovered disciplinary records that detail allegations that rademacher supplied alcohol to students and encouraged them to engage in sex acts during that summer trip to germany. >> rademacher never appeared at a dismachine area hearing on his case. he provided no statement on what happened. and he's been unreachable by phone or e-mail. the trip wasn't sanctioned or sponsored by the school or fairfax county public schools. police say they could not launch a child abuse investigation because the alleged misconduct happened overseas. no criminal charges were filed against rademacher, but the u.s. attorney's office is reviewing the matter. we'll continue to update you. fairfax police have made an arrest in the case of a school bomb threat. a 17-year-old was taken in for making a bomb threat over e-mail at mclean

at 6:15, a developing story in the south. deadly flooding with more rain on the way today. louisiana is the hardest hit state. national guard uses boats and military trucks to try to rescue people. >> mike seidel is in new orleans this morning. we understand some areas have seen more than 20 inches of rain already. >> reporter: and right now -- oh, boy, that was too close. we are just getting in to the

up until now, we've only had about a quarter inch of rain officially. it's all been to our west and north. some areas have had almost 20 inches of rain. and now it's new orleans turn. this is a big fish bowl, so flash flooding is very likely. let me show you some of the impacts around the state. the northwest part of the state has been hit very, very hard. literal disaster. i-20 has been shut down for a couple days. part of that has been reopened now, but it's going to be one of these situations where the cleanup will linger for a long time even after the waters recede. we'll get a lot of rain today here in new orleans and up through parts of mississippi even into western alabama. that's where the fire hose continues. and by tomorrow, things will begin to ease off as the upper level storm unusual for march lifts out and everything starts to stabilize. and we won't see rainfalls like this as it heads off to the north and east. but wild weather this morning in new orleans. and it will be a stormily day. rainfall totals we're expecting generally 3 to 4

fire from as far away as 20 miles. it took about 150 firefighters to put it out. no one was injured. and no word on how the fire started. south korea is condemning a new report that says north korea is ordering more nuclear tests. take a look at these photos from north korean state television. they show photographs of kim jong-un at a missile launch site. nbc news reports it's likely this is from a missile launch earlier this week. any missile launch violates sanctions, but north korea seems to be preparing even more tests. there are now nearly 200 cases of zika in the u.s. all of the cases have been traced to overseas travel. health officials are now looking to congress to provide $1.9 billion to fight the virus in latin america and help prevent it from spreading to the u.s. capitol hill republicans have deferred the request insisting left over-ebola funds can be used. heal

terrell strickland, they say he was involved it robberies where women were physically abused. police believe this suv was use this had one attack in the district. and hopes to find other suspects. new details about a house fire in maryland. we're learning that a firefighter was hurt in that fire in boyds, maryland. chopper 4 was over the fire last night. the house partially collapsed. everyone made it out safely. the fire moved from the garage into the house on aspendale court. there is no word on how the fire started. right now a man in leesburg is in police custody because they say he deliberately hit a woman with a car. there was some kind of domestic fought on sand stone square. and they say he struck the woman twice and ran away. police arrested him and the woman had life threatening injuries. she's currently in serious condition. >>e

accused of attack as driver after a road rage incident in arlington. this happened on west glebe road just past 4 mile run. police say the suspect cut off another driver. the two which changed words and that's when the situation escalated. the suspect pulled out a wooden bad and swung it mull ttiple ti damaging the vehicle and the victim. the suspect took off from the scene. people saying they expect this had from the bad guys, not the government. the d.c. tax office says it mistakenly withdraw more than $7 million from taxpayers' bank accounts earlier this week. that is according to the "washington post." the tax office is blaming a computer error. it took money out of more than 500 accounts but says they were all credited back the next day. virginia lawmakers are about to get a pay raise. the virginia general assembly is expecte
