the chaos after the shooting shut down roads and kept people living nearby away from their homes. and this just in. police have just released a picture of the aufrgs. >> an out pouring of emotion after the deadly shooting. the area's top prosecutor calling the attack of crime against the community. we've got live team coverage only the death of the police officer. we begin with the absolutely heart wrenching scene earlier tonight where officers gathered after learning of colson's death. tonight, the police chief said one of the county's defenders

darcy spencer is live at the home with a look at where the investigation stands now. darcy? >> well, as you may know, the police chief was just recently appointed here in prince george's county and having to make that very difficult announcement as a new chief that one of his own officers has been kited in the line of duty. let's go ahead and show you the photo that we just got just a few minutes ago of this officer who lost his life today. just shy of his 29th birth day. he was brought here where he later died. he's being remembered tonight for his infectious smile. >> the community needs to know that one of your defenders has been lost. >> prince george's county police chief makes the announcement that the officer was shot and killed in the line of duty outside the disic

seagraves is live outside a home that's become a to cat point of this investigation. >> good evening. within might nutes, the investigation led to two other locations, booet within about a mile of the actual shooting. within minutes, police had surrounded this popeyes. inside the bathd room, sources tell news 4, the second suspected. about the same time the suspect at popeyes was being arrested, police were zeroing in on a third location.

where police focused on a car in a tune home. where neighbor say two brothers lived. >> now, it appears the two suspects in this shooting are proers. one is in custody. the other is awaiting charges. now here, at this home, you can see police still surrounds this home and police are still stationed outside of the house. we believe they may be waiting for a search warrant. sources tell us that suspect was

texting his brother. and police already had that phone and simply followed the text messages back to that popeyes. >> mark seagraves, thank you is very much. officer colson is being remembered for his dedication and bravery. he is a four-year veteran. he is getting ready to celebrate his 29th birthday in week. the head of the police union who knew him well said tonight that colson was a real cop's cop. never shying away from any calls. he called this a dark day in prince george's county. he was from upper chichester in pennsylvania. this is the second time in three weeks that a police officer has been killed in the line of dputy.

back too breaking news. police mourning the death of one of their own to be the. the officer killed right in front of the police head kwaurters. live in sheferly tonight with new reaction from police colleagues. >> well, erica, after the shooting, that officer was put in a cruiser and brought here to prince george's hospital center trying to get him medical attention. four year veteran of this police force. he worked as an undercover detective in nashlgts. and was just shy of his 29th birthday. the fop said this evening that this is a dark day in prince george's county. >>
