a new low in executing defenders of this community. >> powerful words from prince george's county state's attorney in response to the death of a police officer. officer jacai colson killed in an ambush style attack outside police headquarters in landover. larry hogan has ordered the flags to fly at half-staff today in honor of colson. >> this morning for the first time, we are hearing those dispatch calls made during chaotic event. this all unfolded yesterday afternoon in the palmer park area. police say around 4:30 p.m., a man approached officers outside the district police station and just started shooting. >> active shooter. one officer being transported by another officer. >> one officer en route to prince george's county being transported by another officer. >> police officers got in to a shoot-out with the suspect and officer coal so th

handgun at the car. the officer has been suspended from the force. neighbors in northwest washington plan to voice concerns tonight about new homeless shelters. for many it would be the first on their street. mayor muriel bowser plans to close d.c. general in two years and set up new short time shelters in each d.c. ward. neighbors from cathedral heights, cleveland park, massachusetts heights and mclean gardens are meeting tonight. 40,000 more people could soon be able to vote in maryland. thursday officials with the prince george's county branch of the naacp will announce a voter registration effort aimed at signing up former felons. last year maryland's general assembly passed the law ensuring felons who have served their time can cast their ballot. t

it looks like mitt romney is throwing his weight behind gop presidential hopeful john kasich. romney will make two campaign stops in the buckeye state today with the ohio governor. five delegate rich states vote tomorrow including ohio and florida, the first winner take all contests of the primary season. anger and violence at recent campaign rallies could influence voters going to the polls tomorrow. at least six people were arrested at donald trump events from chicago to kansas city over the weekend. political rivals quick to blame trump for the violence, but on "meet the press" sunday morning, trump said the country is angry and that's not his fault. >> i'm just a messenger. the people are angry about the fact that for 12 years, the workers in this country haven't had a pay increase, chuck, in 12 years.

just around the bend, it's part of a crime scene this morning after the gunfight among police officers and at the least one of two suspects yesterday. malik and michael ford. now, one of the suspects we're told michael ford was found in a popeye's restaurant not far from here hiding in the bathroom. malik ford believed to have been the shooter was taken to prince george's county hospital where he's expected to survive. we don't have any word on charges yet. but police did search a house less than a mile from here on rider wood court. sources say that's where the two suspects lived. we don't know if they were renting, if they owned the house or what have you. still developing information. according to the police chief, the officer who died, jacai colson, had no official contact with either of these suspects. and outside the hospital yesterday, we spoke with a woman who claimed to be the aunt of the suspect. >> he shot an officer. i apologize if

but all lives matter. where are my nephews? >> reporter: and this investigation is continuing here. by light of day, there will be more evidence collection. you can imagine if there was indeed a gunfight, there will be a lot of shell casings and evidence to be collected and try to find out why this all happened. back to you. this is the second time in three weeks that a police officer has been killed in the line of duty. prince william county officer ashley begin done oig died responding to a domestic call this woodbridge. begin ton oig ma it was her first day on the job. new this morning, a dramatic high speed clays is over and the man behind it is dead. police outside of los angeles say that the man stole a police car and then officers chased him across highways and through neighborhoods. at some point they were going more than 100 miles an hour. at the end, police rammed into the car and officers

killed the man. developing right now, close to 40 people are now dead from a suicide bombing in turkey. the country says rebel bombers targeted bus stops and buses in the capital last night. take a look at the burned out buses and first responders on the scene. chaotic presence there. it is the latest in a series of attacks on turkish civilians. turkey sent its air force to bomb rebels in iraq within hour. it also organized several raids and police arrested dozens of people. another deadly terror attack this oning blamed on al qaeda. 14 civilians and two special forces troops were killed this a shooting on a beach on the ivory coast. police say six armed attackers shot at tourists outside of a resort. they say all six attackers were killed. in "news 4 your health," sure, it's easier, but are they bad for your health. we

to the northbound baltimore parkway, car slid off into the ditch. there will be charges for the woman who caused a chain reaction on 395 saturday night. police say mary daniels stopped in the middle of the highway just north of duke street. three metro transits police cruisers tried to swerve to avoid the car. one side swiped another and the third cruiser ran off the road. the officers and driver went to the hospital. everybody is expected to be okay. the officers were responding to an emergency call at the time of the crash. maybe you saw it on social media, the naacp tournament bracket apparently leaked before the end of the official selection show. this is what happens in the days of social media. the naacp says it's already looking into the leak and that it takes what happened very seriously. someone tweeted the whole bracket before even all the teams were named. well, march madness sts

it doesn't take a mountain to be moved. simply takes one voice or one community of voices. >> investigators into both homicides continue and there have been no arrests. the wife of comedian bill cosby is expected to return for the second part of her deposition today. camille cosby testified under oath last month in a defamation lawsuit against her husband. the lawsuit was filed by seven women who say bill cosby sexually assaulted them. camille locosby's lawyers argue that she has no information that would be relevant to the lawsuit, but prosecutors say it's the only way to get the truth. it looked like a real life disaster, but it was only a drill. close to 100 emergency responders participated in a disaster exercise for metro. the eisenhower avenue metro station in alexandria was closed for hours yesterday during the drill. it included a mock derailment in a tunnel with riders injured. t

and we have a big fire in montgomery county. >> it destroyed a townhouse and forced more than a dozen running for safety. meagan fitzgerald is live in germantown. >> reporter: good morning. the call came in at around 1:00 this morning we're told 120 firefighters responded to this town home just behind us here. when they did, it was engulfed in flames. of course about five hours later, we're still talking about a very active scene. you can see that the structure is still smoldering. 20 people displaced. of course the folks who lived in this town home and either side, there is significant damage so those folks had to leave, as well. very scary moments here especially when part of the structure started to collapse. front wall caved in first. eight firefighters were injured when it happened. want to bring in the montgomery county fire chief. th

morning. can you talk about how the firefighters are doing and how this all happened? >> the eight firefighters were transferred to local hospitals. five of the eight have already been released and have come back to the scene and being interviewed by the investigators. the three others are being observed and waiting test results. clearly as the collapse occurred and these firefighters were either hit by the front wall or the floor down on the inside, there was significant risk of what occurred there and the apparent injuries are very lucky as a result of the injuries. we're working to figure out what the chain of events was that created those collapsed activities in this house. >> so obviously certainly could have been worse. glad they're not life threatening injuries. is there a takeaway message here? >> clearly as we come to light weight construction of a house here, and we deal with the heavy fire involvement as we faced on the back side of the house about, we have to evaluate our risk
