stone after the announcement was made. show marie also talked to commuters after the system closed last night. one said he's not looking forward to the commute today. >> people have no notice, they haven't planned their route well, i think it will be more day chaotic than need to be if people had been given a few days to do some planning. and thousands of you are going to have to find a new way to get to work this morning with metrorail completely shut down. here are other options, marc and vre will run normal schedules today. marc plans to add extra trains. metrobus will also run extra service to help children get to school in the district. ride sharing services including uber and lyft are offering discounts for first-time users and incoming people to use their carpool services. uber says surge pricing is likely but will be capped. capitol bik

delegates. hillary clinton also won florida. and she took the primary for the democrats. in ohio, a big win for governor john kasich, his home state. he took the delegates from donald trump, forcing a possible fight on the convention floor. again on the other side for hillary clinton a win. trump and clinton won their primaries in north carolina as well. now, we mentioned a candidate has suspended his campaign this morning. florida senator marco rubio is calling it quits after a loss in his home state and fourth place finishes in each of yesterday's other contacts. senator rubio addressed his supporters. >> while it is not god's plan that i be president in 2016 or maybe ever, and while today my campaign is suspended, the fact that i've even come this far is evidence of how special america truly is. >> senator rubio did take on a final dig at trump saying the conservative movement should not be built on fear

mchenry town station. that would normally be open at this time. right now, we're five hours into the 29-hour closure. we have the story covered from every angle for you this morning. >> right now, let's take a look back at the emergencies that caused metro to take this drastic measure. news4 team green picks up the coverage, mollett. >> reporter: this is a shock to the system. it's about 5:15, no trains running, the only thing that will be moving next to the train station is the bus stop and people going in and out of that. these emergency inspections are 600 jumper cables to see if they're well insulated and reliable. i want you to take a look. there are workers here who are part of this one precedented safety shutdown. that's pretty much the only life here at this metro station. all of this after emotion from monday's electrical fire at

damaged, to impact the blue, silver and orange lines platforms. that forced a shut down during the night to be able to repair and get the system going again. but this trouble goes back a year ago to a deadly smoke incident near l'enfant station, involving the same kind of power cables. now, if inspectors find problems, parts of the system could be shut down for longer. the goal, though, for now is to return the system to normal service tomorrow morning at 5:00 a.m. again, the only folks that we have seen going in and out of mcpherson square are the metro workers on scene for this one precedented shutdown. that is the latest live from northwest. back to you. >> mollett, thank you. some folks are trying to take a look at some of the lighter sides of this issue with metro. street cars in d.c. running. d.c. street cars center out a tweet

downright windy on friday. highs on saturday only near 50. sunday does not look like a pretty day. i'll give you the whole seven-day at 5:51. we turn to the death of a prince george's county police officer. there will be a bond hearing today for the men charged in the death of officer jacai colson. he was killed on sunday after being accidentally shot by a fellow police officer during the shoot-out by suspect michael ford. police have charged ford with second degree murder. that murder charge is for officer colson's death as well as shootings at other officers' cars and ambulances. the brothers also face attempted murder charges for recording the incident and driving the alleged shooter to the scene. a police officer is in the hospital after being critically injured after a shoot-out with a wanted fugitive and his son. this was the scene in ft. worth, texas yesterday afternoon. officers shot and killed one of the suspec

the son now faces attempted capital murtder charges. the city of brussels is on high alert after four brussels police officers were shot in a raid. police say at least two people started shooting at officers after they were searching an apartment yesterday. the search was in relation to the november 13th bombings and shootings in paris. some of those involved in the attack lived in brussels. police shot and killed one of the suspects. two of them managed to get away. the officer, expected to be okay. today, the fairfax county police department will hold a human trafficking awareness meeting. the human trafficking, of course, is on the rise across north virginia. police say teens are now being targeted. that event kicks off at 7:00 p.m. we're staying on top of the metro shutdown for you this morning, as well as searching for

too similar to that deadly smoke incident that we had last year. because of that, metro employees will spend 29 hours inspecting equipment. but as i mentioned before, commuters relegated to other forms of transportation, buses, carpools, taxis, uber saying it will cap surge pricing. federal employees have the option for work from home or take unscheduled leave. so that helps alleviate some of the pressure. people still have to get to work. still have to get to school. congress is in session. there's a basketball game this evening. i mean, this could turn out to some serious traffic snarls. and as shomari was reporting last night, will this spill over and affect others? we have to wait and find out. we have reporters across the region. news4's angie goff is in montgomery county.

morning to you. well, as commuters brace for a day without metro, this is a morning a lot of people are trying to get to work. we are here at the metro station, grovener at metro station. and they're waiting for the metrobuses. i-270 is predicted to be pretty bad. just when you think something on that road couldn't get any worse something like this happens. it was announced earlier that the i 270 hov lanes would eventually be open to all traffic. then this morning, we got an alert that montgomery county decided to reverse that decision. we don't know why. we're working to find that out. a lot of people are going to consider that. and hopefully, the situation will be relaxed considering

it will be may before the next baltimore police officer goes on trial for the death of freddie gray. you might remember gray died a year ago next month from spine and neck injuries. investigators say he got in the back of a police van. all of them are scheduled to face a judge in the months ahead. starting with officer edward niro on may 10th. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused this massive fire in montgomery county. the fire broke out monday in a townhome there. eight firefighters were trapped inside. they were able to escape. they were checked out at a hospital and released. a little girl with cancer fighting a life-threatening disease is teaching her classmates and teachers about life. she has an aggressive cancer. she's gone most of the school year but tells students about it

clinton and donald trump. their challengers aren't backing down. nbc's tracie potts joining us live to talk about more of what to watch out next. tracie, starting with the gop, senator marco rubio out, he lost in his own home state. now a race against trump and senator ted cruz. what do you think? >> and senator kasich, don't count him out yet. take a look at the celebration that kasich had last night after picking up the 66 delegates in ohio. taking ohio away from donald trump was a big deal. it slows him down. it makes him much more likely that the republicans will have to fight that out on the convention floor in cleveland this summer, as opposed to trump going in with enough delegates to clinch the nomination. make no mistake, he's still ahead in the delegate count and even further ahead. but it just looks like the trajectory at this point may not be enough for him to secure the nomination. now, the democrats, hillary clinton who is the winner in all

she'll be apparently in illinois and missouri. so tight in those states it's possible those results could be contested. she is claiming a victory and now has 1600 delegates about two-thirds of what she needs. bernie sanders still hanging in there. >> tracie potts, thank you. chuck bell, we're looking for things to warm up pretty nicely today, right? >> you betchbetcha. we're mostly in the 40s. shedable layers as most everybody will be 70 or higher later this afternoon. should turn into a pleasant day. really an issue for today, a little bit of thick fog in northern maryland and shenandoah valley. low beams a good idea. there is a slight chance for a shower, maybe a rumble or two. rain chances only at 30%.
