miles per hour through that area. thurston road, south of 80 in frederick county, all lanes blocked box of wires down. alternate there is roderick road. getting slow there south through urbana. a city recovering and all out manhunt under way, schools and public transit reopening in brussels following the deadly terror attacks yesterday. hundreds hurt there. some in critical condition, others are in artificial comas. 34 people have died from those attacks. right now, they're in a widespread search from one of the facts in the bombing at the brussels airport and subway station. we just learned the name of that man. kristin wright will have more on that from the live desk. the brussels airport is closed now and workers will determine how long it will take to fix everything. all across belgium, there will be a moment of silence at 7:00 a.m. our

we have those for you. >> we want to begin with kristin wright with new information on the men who carried out this attack. she's at the live desk. >> a lot of developments in the suspects. as you mentioned there is a manhunt for najim laachraoui. he's the man in the light colored jacket. authorities identified him just this morning as well as two suspected suicide bombers, right next to him, brothers, seen in this surveillance picture at the brussels airport just before the explosion. police are also linking these suspects to the paris attacks in november. now, the other big news this morning, the discovery of a bombmaking factory the suspects may have used. investigators found chemical used for explosives, nails, bolts and isis flag. now, today, also big news, the state department is warning americans about visiting europe right now. officials do say terrorists could be planning more attacks. back to you.

americans were among those hurt in the attacks in brussels. and some are still missing. nobody has heard from stephanie and justin schultz. the couple is from tennessee but they lived in brussels for nearly two year news. well, the couple was at the airport to say good-bye to stephanie's mom who was catching a flight who did manage to make it home safely. the schultz have not been added to the casualty list, but nobody has heard from them. back here at home, airports around the country are on alert this morning, officials are focusing on securing the open areas of the terminals where anyone can walk around and that's where the suspects detonated their bombs yesterday in brussels. news4's molette green is live at dulles international with more on security changes there. mollett, good morning. aaron, good morning, yes. it's a much different seen here today than yesterday. when we saw the robust visible security at play. we're not seeing that in these early

security at our airports isn't the only impact by the terrorist attacks. airport workers had planned to go on strike at midnight to lobby for better pay. instead, they decided to hold a vigil in are remembrance of the victims of the attacks, as workers of reagan national also said they wanted to recognize the brussels airport workers and their bravery during the attacks. the memorial is also in northwest washington. as officials continue their manhunt for the suspects in these terror attacks stay with the washington, d.c. app. decision 2016, where nearly every presidential candidate won a state in yesterday's contest. hillary clinton and donald trump took arizona. a winner take all state for the gop. meaning that trump took 58 delegates. senator bernie sanders won in utah and ohio. senator ted cruz took all of the delegates inta

today, it could be all over for the proposed pepco/exelon merger. that merger has gone to a number of hearings and changes, but in the end, not all of the stakeholders could sign off on the details of the merge. the public service commission of the district of columbia will hold an opening meeting this afternoon at 1:00 to make aits decision. the commission is an independent agency that regulates electric, natural gas and telecommunications companies in the district. a sense of injustices this morning at howard university. students there say they want the university to change how it handles victims of sexual assault. >> no means no! no means no! >> those chants as hundreds of students protested yesterday. they're upset over the fallout over an alleged attack. a resident adviser said she was raped by another resident adviser. they report that she's lost her job as a

the terror attacks in brussels. is this a live look from brussels where a memorial for the victims is growing this morning. three isis suspects including two suicide bombers were identified overnight. there is an intense manhunt for the other suspect as we speak. a 19-year-old utah missionary is fortunate to be alive after one of the airport bombs went off within feet of where he was standing. 19-year-old mason wells has shrapnel in his legs, severe burns and a torn achilles tendon but he's expected to make a full recovery. he was at that airport with missionaries when that bomb detonated. >> having been at the attack, he was very close to the bombings when the bomb exploded. it's a miracle that he made it through as easily as he did with lower leg injuries. >> now, this isn't the first time the wells family has experienced terror attacks. three years ago, mason and his father were a block away from the finish

plans for d.c. she unveiled her goals in the state of the state address. one of the biggest goals is raising the minimum wage. >> when council returns from its break early next month, i will send legislation to increase the minimum wage to $15 by 2020. >> mayor bowser's minimum wage proposal received a standing ovation. also in the mayor's agenda she shed she's adding another $75 million to the education budget which is the largest in the city's history. also, the mayor wants to renovate schools that have not been modernized. in public safety, the city will add an extra 30 ambulances during peak times starting next week. and mayor bowser also urged support of her homeless shelter plan. prince william county police were called to west long drive in woodridge after a two-car collision. one driver taken to the hospital where he died from his

after the terror attacks left at least 34 people dead, hundreds injured in brussels yesterday, metro here in the district has ramped up security. metro security added more yesterday and that is set to continue as the area remains on heightened hearings. news4's meagan fitzgerald is at the metro station. what are you seeing there? >> reporter: aaron, that's exactly right, what we saw yesterday in terms of the heightened sense of security, and commuters are going to see that society. you'll see more and more officers in uniform and plain clolgs clothes, southwest around the station sweeping platforms. the concern is for those copycats. very important to note at this point, metro says they're not aware of any known or credible threat to the metro transit system. alexandria police along with the

metro in they're efforts. you'll expect to see more officers there as well. again, if you see something, you're asked to say something to an official. you can also send a text message to my metro pd. security also heightened at the belgium embassy in northwest d.c. flags there have been lowered to half-staff. secret service officers and cruisers flanked the embassy as families tried to get updates on their loved ones overseas. a memorial is growing outside this morning. investigation into the terror in brussels may complicate the battle between fbi and apple. you may remember that the justice department postponed a hearing tuesday over access to one of the san bernardino's terrorist iphones. apple refused to help the fbi get data from syed farook

but the fbi is likely to sway away from privacy and towards national security. it could mean that even after the fbi accesses the san bernardino phone without apple's help the broader goal will continue well after it's resolved. police in our area are ramping up security after the terror in brussels, but people in washington are here for the peak season of the cherry blossoms. saying that they're not particularly worried. news4 spoke with a lot of tourists and tourism employees who say they feel safe while checking out the monuments and taking in the cherry blossom sights at the tidal basin. >> everywhere you look there's secret service police and i'm sure undercover people too. >> park service volunteers say people can't help but have the brussels attacks on their mind. but most tourists are focusing on theut
