the way. news4 midday starts right now. breaking news in a murder investigation on metro. police just announced an arrest in the deadly shooting of a teenager who was preparing to celebrate easter with his family on saturday. derrick ward is live at d.c. police headquarters with more on the clues in this case. good morning. >> this is largely based on video surveillance from the subway station. to take you back, 15-year-old davante washington was killed saturday afternoon at the deanwood metro station. he was on the platform with his mother, when the gunman came up to him and said what's up, shot him and ran off. late yesterday afternoon, police arrested 17-year-old maurice bellamy and charged him with murder. he's being charged as an

su suspicious packages this morning. kristin wright has the developments there today. she is live on capitol hill right now. >> reporter: yesterday a man with a weapon, today suspicious packages. police now have given the all-clear, but needless to say a lot of people, especially tourists, were pretty much on edge. >> reporter: sirens again blaring at the u.s. capitol. visitors kept back. tourists turned away from the visitor's center minutes after it opened. police found two suspicious packages. we were heading into a capitol tour, i believe. and they just told us you can't go that way. >> there's something, you should go. >> the hernandez family was first in line. they missed their flight out of california monday. they planned to be at the visitor's center at time police say larry dawson of tennessee pulled a pellet gun on officers. they shot him. today dawson is charged. >> at a time when we

from says dawson is friendly, the type of guy who knows all of his neighbors' names. the man says he has lived next to dawson for 12 years. all passengers including eight americans are safe and a hijacker is in custody. this after a man claiming to have an explosive belt forced an egyptair plane to land in cyprus. you can see in this picture the filt pilot escaping from the hijacked plane. officials say the hijacker is seif eldin mustafa and he did it over a personal matter involving his ex-wife. he told negotiators he wanted to speak to his ex-wife or at least give her a letter. this story is still developing and we'll update you on it on our nbc washington app. it is a beautiful spring day. we should charge admission all of the spring colors

sunday. developing this morning, prince george's county police say the man who shot three people over the weekend killed himself by jumping into front of a marc train yesterday morning. victims say jacinto del prado shot two men and a woman he was in relationship with. marc and amtrak service were suspended yesterday while police investigated. the city of brussels working to recover. it's been one week since the isis terror attack. two bombings at the brussels airport and one on the subway. at least 35 people died. you're looking at flowers that have piled up at the maalbeek metro station, which is still closed today. people are going back to work there and trains are running but under heavy guard. there is a renewed search for a suspect in the attacks as well. the man was wearing

we were standing at the visitor's center talking to tourists about yesterday when police started asking everybody if they had left a bag behind. that's about when police started telling visitors that they had to go. they had to clear the plaza. the first unattended bag was found at first and east capitol streets. the second was found near the jefferson building. all of this happening the day after police say larry dawson pulled a pellet gown un on offi at the center. he is a pastor, and d.c. police shot him. this led to some frightening moments for people. today larry dawson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and assaulting a police officer. he's in the hospital in critical condition. he will face those charges in
