this just into the newsroom. a man accused of killing his own daughter and her mother in prince george's county has been charged with their murders. the state's attorney says 25-year-old doran boswell johnson commit an unspeakable and unthinkable crime. two months ago, investigators say deshanday davis was putting her 2-year-old daughter, chloe, in her car seat outside of her home in ft. washington. they said johnson was waiting for them and shot them multiple times and left. they say johnson admitted killing the two over child support. he is in custody with no bond right now. for more on this developing story, check nbcwashington.com. at the live desk, i'm eun yang. right now, mayor mueller bouser is kicking off the annual potholepalooza campaign. it means city crews will be out in full force filling the potholes. this year, the city says it

wants to finish repairs under the standard 72-hour response time. the mayor is holding a press conference about the campaign and is supposed to unveil some new technology meant to speed up repairs. if you see bad potholes on the road, we want to see them. take a photo and tweet it to us with the location of the pothole with the twitter hand @4handle6. right now president obama is meeting with dozens of world leaders on this second day of the nuclear security summit. they're focusing on how to enhance security to prevent nuclear terrorism around the globe. here's a live look at the meeting right now. we have video from earlier this morning, when the president met with negotiators in the iran nuclear deal and leaders are expected to talk about the status of implementing that deal today. the summit is being held at the washington convention center. that whole downtown area has been sealed off. they are widespread road closures. and you know congestion will be widespread throughout the city today. the presnt

speak at a news conference later this evening about any important developments that come out of the summit. and we'll send alerts to the nbc washington app. at the live desk, i'm eun yang. >> as eun said, the nuclear security summit means more changes and cloefrs around the washington convention center, but it will all be over very soon. news 4's megan mcgrath is live outside the convention center next to one of those roads in red right now that's been a real tricky spot for a lot of drivers. megan? >> reporter: it really has. we're here on k. street. k. street is one of those red roads, which is means that it is closed. and they actually have been standing by, manning, actually directing traffic here for the last couple of hours, trying to get people through the area. because we have a lot of closed roads here, all around the convention center. that has been the case for the last couple of days. and it's been a major inconvenience. not only can people not drive through the area, there are parking restrictions, as well. also, the mt.

station has been closed. it is still closed, so people who normally use that metro station, they've had to walk down to gallery place, so that's increased their walk time, their commute, as well. so, it's been an inconvenience, but the light is at the end of the tunnel. things are going to start to get back to normal. for example, the metro station is going to reopen by 8:00 tonight, and all of the road closures and the parking restrictions, we're hearing from police that they should all be gone by noon on saturday. needless to say, folks who live and work in the area, they will be thrilled when things get back to normal. >> it's been a mess. nothing but a mess. everything's been late. what are you going to do? what are you going to do? we have to have summit. >> i'm walking and biking, so it's pretty easy for me. >> noon on saturday, should be back to normal. >> looking forward to it. >> reporter: so it has been a rough couple of days. a lot of people had their commutes extended, but the light is at the end of thenn

chuck. thank you. virginia state trooper chad nurmeyer was shot and killed at a richmond greyhound bus station. he was training with a team on how to intercept on how to train. he asked a gunman a routine question. he pulled out a gun, he continued shooting inside the terminal before he was shot by police. officials say the gunman was deeply disturbed. >> the shooter continued to be combative once ems crews arrived on the scene to render aid. he was transported to dcu medical center, where he later died. >> the suspect has not been identified yet, but police did say that he was not from the richmond area. hundreds of thousands of students can't go to school today, because the teachers are on strike. chicago teachers held a walkout this morning to demand more money for schools. chicago has the third largest

retrial in the murder of washington intern, shondra levy, news 4 is planning to speak with levy's mom. susan levy is part of an art exhibition gallery starting today that will tell the stories of crime victims and their loved ones. shondra levy was found dead back in rock creek park back in 2002. investigators revealed she was romantically involved with california congressman, gary condit, before she went missing in 2011. a d.c. judge granted a retrial in the murder last year after evidence surfaced, suggesting the congressman's lawyers misled jurors. officers shooting one of their own in an undercover drug bust. how the department is being punished for a lieutenant's actions. you're watching news 4

high-profile case for metro. last weekend, 15-year-old devonte washington was gunned down in front of his family at the deanwood metro station. a 17-year-old is charged with his murder. in february, a man was shot during an attempted robbery on a green line train approaching the anacostia station. patrols have been increased to deal with a spike in assaults carried out by groups of high school teens. those assaults are among the crimes that have risen when compared to this same time in 2015. the transit system also saw two murders last year, a stabbing on a red line train on july 4th and a shooting at a metro garage ten days later. the cia says one of its agents is responsible for dozens of loudoun county children riding a school bus last week with explosive material inside. agents were using the bus for training while students were on spring break. the cia says one of the

accidentally left that material onboard. the bus carried 26 students to breyerwoods high school on monday and tuesday, before someone during maintenance found the substance. school officials say regardless of the scare, the material is harmless. virginia's bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms, and explosives helped loudoun county schools in its investigation. the cia says it's taking steps to prevent the mistake from happening again. now to a scandal developing in alabama. governor robert bentley refuses to resign after secret tapes are exposed fueling allegations of an affair with one of his top aides was made public. the tapes contain some alleged pretty racy conversations between the governor and the aide. bentley denies the affair and says he is not giving up his position. >> nothing illegal there has ever been done that would affect the people of alabama ande

>> the aide has since resigned. a state ethics investigation is now underway. well, we told you the brussels airport is ready to reopen after last week's deadly attacks. well, it could happen as early as today, we're hearing. the airport has been shut down since the suicide bombings that killed more than 30 people in brussels. airport officials held a successful large-scale test of operations. now they're just waiting on the government to approve a partial reopening. however, if planes do start flying, a protest over airport security could slow operations down over the weekend. maryland's house and senate are trying to iron out differences between two drunk driving bills named after a fallen montgomery county officer, noah liata. liata's family is calling on lawmakers to make sure legislation is touch on drunk drivers. noah's law would expand the use of ignition interlock devices for those who drink and drive. liata was

this just into the newsroom. virginia state police have identified the man who shot and killed trooper chad dermyer at the richardmond city greyhound bus station yesterday. they say 34-year-old james brown iii from illinois shot dermyer several times after the trooper introduced himself to brown during a training exercise. state police troopers were training on how to intercept drugs. investigators say brown shot and injured two other people inside the terminal. we learned the greyhound station will reopen at 1:00 this morning. police plan to hold a news conference this afternoon as well. check your nbc news washington app. major cleanup from severe storms that swept across the south last night. now hail, heavy rain, and flooding on the way. nbc's steve patterson shows us the damage. >> yeah. welcome to columbus, mississippi. really at the epicenter, where one of the tornadoes from last

sources say vulnerabilities were found in the system that may have jeopardized millions of people. they say it could have let hackers change visa applications or steal data. the state department, though, has said it has no evidence of a security breach. a credit card skimming device may have been found at a local safeway store. krebsone security says it warned experts of devices found at self-checkout lanes in colorado and possibly other states. now images posted online show a possible device at a germantown store. safeway officials have not responded to that report. anyone hoping to go see the cherry blossoms or walk around the white house tomorrow may think some clouds of marijuana smoke. there's a mass protest planned. demonstrators say they expect to get arrested. organizers of last year's successful ballot measure that legalized pot in d.c. are behind this protest. while many stateve

taking a look at the problems still created metro and road wise, because of the nuclear summit here in town, in northwest. remember, the mt. vernon square station is still shut down until tonight for security. the line, of course, is running through there, yellow and green. but you have to use shaw or gallery place instead if you want to get on or off. for the summit, again, lots of road closures. seventh street, ninth street, n street here, all shut down right around the convention center. so roads will reopen saturday. that is good. the roads that still will remain open through all of this, remind avenue, sixth street, constitution avenue, and connecticut, use those to get around. expect them, of course, to have heavier than normal volume. i'll see you monday morning for news 4 today. there has been a major discovery when it comes to zika virus. researchers at purdue university have figured out the structure of the mosquito-born virus. the groundbreaking discovery will help give clues into finding a treatment or vaccine. the team
