news4 at 6:00 starts now. get ready for a major weather change. the temperatures will fall fast tonight. rain will move in and some of you could see wind gusts topping 50 miles an hour. we've been telling you about this for the last couple of days and now we're only hours away and the strong winds could cause some potential damage. amelia joins us with what you can expect tonight and tomorrow. >> reporter: here are the latest weather alerts. a high wind warning will go in effect around 9:00 tonight for areas north and west of the d.c. metro area. the darker colors here are going to be under the high wind

the beige color under a wind advisory. this includes most of the d.c. metro area through southern maryland and parts of the northern neck. that high wind for parts of loudoun, fauquier and all of frederick counties. this will run through noon tomorrow. we'll have gusts up to 60 miles per hour that could cause damage to power lines and trees. use caution driving high profile vehicles late tonight and throughout the morning hours tomorrow. freeze warning will also kick into gear around midnight tonight and run through 10:00 a.m. tomorrow for areas west of 95. temperatures in the freeze warning will dip into the low 30s. so if you have any plants, you'll need to bring them indoors or cover them. we'll be tracking rain during the evening and overnight. this will bring the big changes, the high winds and cooler air. i'll have more wind impacts coming up. >> thank you, amelia. new dls

first murder of the year. police arrested a teenager they say stabbed a relative and then lied to cover up the crime. megan joins us live from the neighborhood. what are you learning? >> reporter: neighbors tell us that the suspect and the victim were father and son. according to police, it was a 17-year-old that stabbed 46-year-old dennis adams right on this street just behind us here. witnesses tell us he ran up the street, the 17-year-old, went to a neighbor's house where he told neighbors to call 911 because someone had stabbed his father. this all happened at around 8:00 last night on 3rd street. you can seeth at police are still out here, because they tell us this is a very active an ongoing investigation. around 8:00, dennis adams and the 17-year-old were fighting inside the home. it continued outside into the street, and that's when neighbors called

adams suffering from multiple stab wounds. he was rushed to the hospital and later died. after the 17-year-old's story changed several times, they stopped scouring the area for a suspect and placed the teenager under arrest. we spoke with a neighbor whose family was home when this all happened. >> the guy screaming, stop, stop, to another guy. but she wasn't sure who the other guy was. but it looks like he was the suspect. or sounds like it. that's what police are saying. >> it's frightening, especially having kids around the neighborhood. you want the kids in the house when something like that happens. >> reporter: you can see police are still out here as mentioned. very active scene here. they're still looking for evidence and asking anyone with information about this case to contact the arlington police department. monday, we're told this teenager will be formally charged with murder. back to

an early morning highway catastrophe in san diego.
