>> reporter: well, good morning. you can see behind me here that we still have the closure in place. massachusetts avenue closed in all directions just prior to 13th street. so between the circle and 13th. the tunnel beneath thomas circle also closed at least for the moment. however just a short time ago, i got an update from police, they started taking down some of the tape in the area. they still have the road blocked, but i was told as soon as the tow truck arrives and they can tow the car involved out of here, that they will reopen everything. so reopen all lanes of massachusetts avenue, the estimate here is hopefully 15 minutes. actually, i'm just right now seeing the flat bed tow truck arriving on the scene down there at the circle. so looks like we will reopen here in the next 15 minutes to a half hour. this is a deadly pedestrian accident. the car was apparently going eastbound on massachusetts avenue as it

pulled from service. that includes issues with safety equipment, driver controls, steering and brakes. the audit also found ddot and metro have failed to effectively oversee the contractor that operates the circulators. first transit has agreed to fix all the maintenance issues. the d.c. council will have a hearing on the issues this morning. we'll have a link to the full report on our nbc washington app. today a 15-year-old largo high school student will be laid to rest. davonte washington was shot and killed on the deanwood metro station platform in d.c. on easter weekend. he was with his mother and two youngsters when another teen asked him a question and then police say shot him. the funeral is being held at the first baptist church in upper ha marlboro at 11:00. other students will present his family with a memory wall. fear about student safety is spreading after the apparent murder of a freshman at the university of texas at us a sin. 18-year-old thate

democratic hopefuls only ones with a contest to worry about over the weekend. it's a small one, only 18 delegates up for grabs tomorrow in the caucus in wyoming. but it's a fight for new york voters that is consuming candidates across the parties. nearly all of the presidential hopefuls will make appearances today in the empire state instead of heading to california today, donald trump is rearranging his schedule to stay in new york. he's reportedly tweaking his campaign as he prepares to battle over delegates for the convention. tracie potts will have more on that a little later. georgetown university says students and employee information is safe after a recent cyber attack. the university says its firewalls were able to keep hackers out. georgetown says last week's attack is in no way linked to the one against medstar. the university sent out a statement saying it takes cyber security seriously and are asking students to be careful about opening e-mail attachments and clicking on links.

they sexually assaulted the girl and took her back home. the men were are arrested on wednesday in montgomery county, but they will likely face charges both thin virginia and d.c. the deadline has come for a dozen prince george's county strip club violating zoning laws to close their doors. tracee wilkins was the first to report this story and has more now on what some owners are doing to fight back. >> reporter: today is the day, 5:00 p.m. close of business, 12 strip clubs in prince george's county will no longer be able to operate as a strip club. they have been given notices like this one from the department of permits inspections and enforcement saying that it is illegal for them to operate as an adult entertainment business where they are currently located. this after a year long battle in court that decided buildings like this one can no longer be right across the street from homes. they now need to be located in warehouse districts or

massachusetts avenue. melissa mollett has been monitoring the traffic impact, but let's begin with megan mcgraph live on the scene. >> reporter: well, a pedestrian involved it all of this, that person a male pronounced dead on the scene. but the driver of the striking vehicle according to police did stay, they were on the scene. that driver was on the crescene when police officers arrived. you can see everything has reopened. massachusetts avenue both the access roads and the tunnels back to normal this morning. that happened right after the car involved was towed. take a look at the video, this happened within the last half hour. the police completed their investigation and the tow truck came and took that car from the scene. and so everything was able to get back to normal in time for rush hour this morning. this happened between 1:30 and 2:00. the car was traveling on one of the access roads headed east.
