to get a sense of the scene. we're looking down the 2400 block of knox place, alabama avenue. you see a white hon do did a with its rear window out. farther down the block, police are looking at another small car on the other side of the street. we are within earshot, shouting distance of police headquarters. this happened last night. it was about 10:22 when police responded to this scene. the victim we know of is a 7-year-old girl. we were told she was taken away from the scene, conscious and breathing. we don't have much information about her condition now or what may have prompted the shooting. investigators remain on the scene. we have reached out to d.c. police to see if there are any details to be released this morning. we hope to bring it to you as soon as they are available. this always sparks outrage when the victim of a shooting is a

of the house and in the cold. police say neighbors called in thursday night when they saw the 10-year-old son on the back deck in shorts and crying, knocking on the door. she had she was upset with her son and locked him out. she is on unpaid leave from lane elementary school >> an all out manhunt for a dangerous escapee is over. it is because the suspect's mom and dad turned him in. anthony garver was taken into custody last night. he escaped from a psychiatric hospital in washington. garver was charged with stabbing a woman to death in her home. but officials found him too mentally ill for trial.

command. urgent. we have guys down. urgent. may day. >> six firefighters hurt on the jersey shore last night. when it started to collapse, they were able to get out. they are recovering this morning. the exact cause of that fire still under investigation. a group of teenagers accused of attacking a d.c. man on his way home from a metro station. it happened wednesday afternoon as the man was leaving the guy detective station. a teen stopped and asked him about the presidential election. he told the teen he didn't know anything about that and kept on walking.
