at sully station. >> i'm just now hearing it. >> reporter: said they weran aware of the exemtreatmently disturbing crime reported here last week. police say a 77-year-old woman was in her apartment with the door closed but unlocked when a man entered, spoke with her, and sexually assaulted her. he robbed her of cash before leaving. >> i would like to see more security in this place because you know what? i am a disabled person. and we have seniors here, too. and we need more security. how come we don't have it? >> reporter: the complex has two large buildings on wood mere court in centerville. just inside the front door of one building is a security door that people told us has been frequently been left propped open during ongoing construction. in fact it was propped open tonight. >> this is the first i heard of it and utsds' very shocking and surprising for this close

among democrats, hillary clinton has an even lar she is up 58 to 36% over senator bernie sanders with the margin of error at 3 1/2 points. only new york votes between now and ape 26th when maryland and four other states hold primaries. both sides will see a big delegate hall. and among the five states, only one state has more delegates at stake than maryland. we looked at hypothetical general election matchups. it shows both democrats winning easily. clinton and sanders beat all three republicans by at least 17 points. you can get a better look at the nbc 4 washington app. our poll also shows maryland's senate race will likely go down to the wire. congressman van holidayen has a six point lead over congresswoman donna edwards. the other big factor is undecided voters in maryland. 18% of likely democratic voters say they haven'ta

minds about this senate race t. and 14% say they could still change their minds before casting their ballots. metro's general manager calls it is his most important hire to date. today paul we hade felled announced patrick lachb will be met row's new chief safety office. lachb spent his 33 year clearing working for new york city's transit system this. announcement comes as we hade felled prepares to testify before congress tomorrow about safety issues. and news 4's scott mcfarlane obtained copies of his prepared statement. he is expected to say that metro is suffering from systemic issues that are related to everything from tracks to stations. there was a small sign of progress today. metro posting some video of one of its oldest 1,000 series rail cars getting taken off the tracks for good. these older cars are being replaced by the newer 7,000 series cars while the old ones are heading to the scrap yard.

about that stabngmetro station . court documents say that suspect, 18-year-old javante hall knew the victim, john evans. investigators tell us the teens got into some sort of argument that may have stemmed from a fight on social media. police say both appeared to throw punches, and evans was stabbed in the neck. tonight, community leaders tell news 4 this is not just a metro safety issue. it's larger problem with teenage violence around the district. news 4's shomari stone spent tonight talking to some of these loaders about how to stop that cycle of violence. >> reporter: 18-year-old vante hall is charged are murdering a 15-year-old. less than three weeks ago, police say another teen killed another 15-year-old. the latest incidents of youth violence in washington, d.c. >> i'm extremely thankful that we have this excet
