>> no matter where i go, look at this group. it is packed. there are thousands of people outside. >> this farm was once owned by george washington after he retired from the military. in more than 200 years later, veterans are still working this land. we will tell you how you can help these vets. a man who wandered off from a group home outing is dead after a confrontation with police. >> investigators say he became physical with officers and apparently had a medical emergency. jackie bensen is live in falls church where it all unfolded. >> reporter: tonight i spoke to a witness who did not want to be identified. that person said it did take four officers to subdue and handcuff the man identified as 45-year-old

hours identifying the man. the home was blocked off with crime scene tape. >> in any death investigation obviously you want to determine the circumstances. the circumstances and document those things. >> reporter: police say they were called just after 1:00 this afternoon. the caller described the caregiver from a non-profit group home and told them a resident wandered away during an outing at the park. an officer spotted the resident walking a mile and a half away. the police chief said the officer, 20 years with the agency and trained in crisis intervention stopped him who he described as having developmental and physical disabilities. the officer started to talk to the man and radioed the dispatcher to tell the caregiver where to find him. >> for reasons to be yet determined he became

the officer called for backup and three additional officers arrived on the scene. >> reporter: he said in the struggle the man's forehead was scraped bl while they were waiting for fire and rescue he was alert and breathing. once the medics arrived on the scene, they observed him have a medical emergency, what appears to be cardiac arrest and cpr auz started immediately. police say the man was 5'9", 280 pounds, face down, handcuffed on the ground, alert and moving before the ambulance arrived advertise cause of death will be determined by the state medical examiner. >> thank you. new at 11:00, firefighters are trying to figure out what sparked the flames at this home in centreville. as you can see, the home is a

michigan's attorney general is promising more criminal charges in that flint toxic water crisis. >> that pledge and the criminal charges announced today mean thousands of families unknowingly poisoned are one step closer to justice. three government officials face possible jail time. they are accused of tampering with evidence, doctors lead tets result and altering reports sent to state and federal officials. >> they failed in their responsibilities to protect the health and safety of families of flint. so many things went so terribly wrong and tragically wrong. >> reporter: >> the water in flint still isn't safe to drink. 33 out of 15,000 lead pipes have been replaced. firefighters are still battling a blaze in shenandoah national park. that's already consumed 5600 acres. the fire is now classified as a type one fire. that's the highest designation
