chemotherapy and radiation, so surgery is the only way to treat it. >> we needed to come up with a way where we could actually plan her surgery and take the tumor out while still saving her hip joint. >> reporter: they mapped out the surgery feeding high resolution cat scans and mris into this computer. >> we had to plan on making a cut working from the inside of her pelvis out toward the tumor. >> reporter: basically operating virtually blind. >> it allows us to map out the patient's anatomy exactly with the imaging that was done and give us realtime feedback. i could tell exactly what portion of the bone i'm working on. >> reporter: after seven to eight hours of surgery, the d tumor was safely

mark segraves joins us live where the sentence was just announced. >> reporter: 120 days in prison for douglas hughes, the former postal worker from florida who, as you said, flew his gyrocopter over the capital. he said it was an act of civil disobedience. the judge said it was a publicity stunt. prosecutors said it was a reckless game of russian roulette with the public safety. the judge said he will have to serve 120 days in prison and then have 12 months of supervised probation. stay away from the u.s. capital and the white house. here's what he said to reporters just after leaving the courthouse. >> the verdict is in. i'm going to be serving four months in jail. i expect it to be in florida. when i get out, i'l

>> reporter: in an unexpected move, donald bricker fires his attorney and is asking the judge to withdraw his guilty plea. this comes after he confessed to the murder on two different occasions. we're hearing what bricker told detectives shortly after the murder. it has been nearly 11 months since the 24-year-old was gunned down in this parking lot. her ex-boyfriend donald bricker jr. pulled the trigger before speeding off his crashing his vehicle a few miles away. bricker told investigators he shot his ex-girlfriend when they interviewed him inside his hospital room shortly after the murder. we have obtained that video, which we're hearing for the very first time. >> i shot her and then i shot her again. i just pointed it and shot her. >> why?
