side blocked by the vehicle fire. taking a look at 66 and 95 overall you can see it's nice and green, no worries there or any road work hanging around. coming up at 4:41, we'll talk about 270 and show you a live picture there. back to prince george's county now and another fire last night. this time in bowie. the fire chief says the three he people inside the home are doing okay, but their dog is missing. firefighters say the flames did not shred from the town home near the intersection of north view drive and mitchellville road and that they were able to put out the fire quickly. no word on a cause right now. traffic is moving again on the woodrow wilson bridge this morning. it had been shut down last night because of a suspicious package. however, police determined the box had just a bunch of loose wires inside. today we should learn whether the body found in the

of missing fairfax county firefighter nicole mittendorff. the body was found thursday afternoon. a suicide note was also found in mittendorff's car. meanwhile the website dedicated to finding mittendorff, her family posted a statement last night saying, quote, nicole has been found, our hearts are broken. well, prince george's county plans to crack town on gun violence. rushern baker and maryland's attorney general are expected to announce new measures today, aimed at strengthening handgun licensing laws. 4:35. today a community will remember the victims of the deadly violence at the deanwood metro station. john evans was stabbed to death at the station on april 11th. davonte washington was shot achd killed a few weeks earlier. both were 15 years old. the community will hold a

this eefrpg and members will walk from the antioch baptist church on 50th street northeast to the metro station and pray for the community. parts aents are up in arms reports of elevated lead levels found in the water of three elementary schools in d.c. those schools include capital montessori, miner and pane in the capitol hill area. recent testing found the levels elevated but below what the epa considers dangerous. lead was found in individual sinks, water fountains in these schools. the results of the tests done bby the kept of general services were posted, but some parents say word didn't spread fast enough. >> it's so avoidable. >> the department says it's working with d.c. public schools to improve communications with parents. for the first time since the 1980s, d.c. leaders are

i'm molette green at the live desk. new details in now on the deadly accident of the outer loop of the beltway in prince george's county. maryland state police just telling us that accident involved a tractor trailer and passenger vehicle. it happened just before 2:00 a.m. the area that is impacted on the beltway between branch avenue and st. barnabas road, we've learned the driver of the passenger car has died. no other injuries reported at this time. we have a crew headed to the scene there and of course we'll keep you updated on the traffic impact with melissa mollett in first 4 traffic. that is the latest for now. back to you. how to the race for the white house. a lot happening on both sides this morning. the gop frontrunner could be moving more toward the middle while bernie sanders is vowing to stay in the race. tracie potts is live from capitol hillou

>> reporter: let's talk about donald trump. his campaign manager says what you see in public isn't the donald trump you see in private. and that the more presidential donald trump will be rolling out soon. he is also commenting on north carolina's bathroom law saying that it's okay for transgender people to choose the bathroom of their choice. but then in an interview last night, trump rolled it back a bit saying that it's a state's rights issue and the federal government just shouldn't have in any say in it. ted cruz obviously opposed to that. trump is calling for both cruz and kasich to drop out and both are saying they're staying in. >> and speaking of the democrats and bernie sanders saying he doesn't want to back down even though his chances of clinching the nomination seem low. >> he says that he still has a shot at this and his ace in the hole seems to be the polls that say that he is a better shot at beating a republican in november than hillary clinton. he's banking on that to try to

event will raise awareness about human trafficking especially how it impacts children. 4:49. today the uber driver accused of killing six people in a shooting rampage in michigan heads to court. a judge in cal about made zoo will decide whether jason dalton is fit to stand trial. a recent psychological evaluation says dalton is competent. he's the charged with injuring two others in three separate locations back in february. he picked up iber passengers in between his shooting spree. advocacy groups are calling for people to take a stand on violence against transgender men and women. groups including the trans united fund and others are holding a vigil tonight remembering a trans woman killed at the red roof inn in rockville this past weekend. maryland state

involved in this serious crash on the beltway is still in critical condition this morning. take a look at the scene there. the accident happened last thursday when a thriver came up along the shoulder of 495 after a hit and run and slammed into the back of 26-year-old ezra ganeshananda. that accident reminds us of the importance ever the move over law that requires drivers to move over a lane or slow down for emergency vehicles. it was not only put in place to protect police and emergency responders, but for all drivers when and if they have an emergency situation. maryland state troopers continue to investigation just how important it is to obey this law. >> when we're on the scene of collisions or when we're responding to collisions, the less drivers that are distracted on the roadways only increase our safety. >> the move over law is in effect in surrounding states, as well. chuck bell is coming up with weather.

parts of the appalachian trail. flames pouring from a car on the side of route 301 near brandywine, maryland. prince george's county assistant fire chief darren ware happened to be driving by wednesday afternoon. he and a retired firefighter were able to pull a woman inside that are are car to safety. a prince george's county firefighter is doing better a week after surviving the shooting that killed officer john ulmschneider. here is a picture of 19-year-old kevin swain in his hospital bed. the morning side volunteer fire department tweeted it it yesterday with a message thanking the community for its love and support. swain and ulmschneider were checking the well pair of a temple hills man last friday. the man shot them as they tried to force their way into the house. do you remember this crash? the one that killed three members of a montgomery county family in february. now the maryland state highway

this stretch of river road near whitman high school safer. one proposal calleds for eliminating left turns. some neighbors are concerned that that will back up traffic. instead, they want a traffic signal at the intersection of river road and pyle road. state officials say there are not enough left turns at that intersection to justify a traffic signal. a florida man who landed a gyrocopter on the lawn of the capitol is headed to jail. douglas hughes was sentenced to four months behind bars. the judge called his message is publicity stunt. hughes says his only regret is wasting government sources. >> i'll never do it again, but, yes, it was worth it. i haven't apologized in the past and i'm not apologizing now. we need the reform. >> hughes says he would be willing to go to jail again in an act of civil disobedience in order to

the boyfriend would police say left his girlfriend's toddler in a hot car is now facing charges in the girl's death. arlington county police say da'quan fields left the 2-year-olded in a hot car for seven hours on wednesday. he called 911 when he spotted her, but it was too late. officials say fields routinely drops his girlfriend's children off at two different locations but something may have enter represented that. >> terrible story. stay with us.
