montgomery county police department. coming up at 6:00, we'll tell you what neighbors say they will be doing to try to make their communities safer. we're also keeping our eye on a high school student in d.c. who is recovering after he got stabbed on his way to class. >> police think this may have started as some kind of a robbery. the victim was attacked outside of wilson high school in northwest d.c., and we have learned that this is not the first time something like this has happened in recent days. news 4's mark segraves is live outside of the school this evening. >> reporter: good evening. it was just about 9:00 this morning. most of the students were already inside wilson high school when the teenager came through these doors bleeding from a stab wound. >> it appears at this time he was just attempting to rob him of his phone and wallet. >> reporter: the student parked his car across the street from wilson high school as he had many times before, but this morning he told police a man with a knife tried to rob him.

the student was stabbed in the leg. >> high school student then walked across the street and sought help inside the school. >> reporter: the suspect ran into the neighborhood and got away. this is the second time a wilson high school student has been robbed at knife point in the past week. an 11th grade girl was robbed across the street last tuesday afternoon as she was walking home from school. she was not hurt. police crime statistics show an increase in crime in this neighborhood over the past two months. the friend of today's victim did not want to be identified on camera. >> i feel concerned for my safety now that people are being robbed a couple blocks from school. that's a concern to my safety and the safety of my fellow seniors. >> reporter: it is not just students feeling unease. the woman was troubled to learn the student was stabbed just steps from her home. >> i'm really concerned. >> reporter: one arrest had been
