maryland voter also have their say. tonight new comments from donald trump about his opponents' divide and conquer strategy. and the news 4 i-team going inside school lockdowns, how often they happen and what your kid experiences when school turns into a safe house. news 4 at 11:00 starts now. first up at 11:00, a man found dead inside a fairfax county apartment. all new tonight, police are calling this a homicide. >> they're questioning a woman about this case. we're live in the mt. vernon area with the latest. >> reporter: right now fairfax county police officers are here. they have set up a crime scene behind me here. they are searching inside that apartment located on the upside of the yellow tape. they have been here all evening long. tonight fairfax county crime scene investigators are searching for evidence inside

taking pictures. around 3:00, a woman told police she found a dead man in her apartment on the 5300 block of bedford terrace. police drove to the house with the woman and found the man withdraw ma to the upper body. tonight the police are questioning the woman. they tell me she's an acquaintance to the man. they used to be in a relationship, although detectives aren't telling me whether it was a romantic relationship. they have not explained their specific connection. some neighbors are surprised. did you ever hear anything suspicious next door. any noises, any yelling? >> nothing out of the ordinary, an argument once in a while, but nothing out of the ordinary. >> reporter: the woman we interviewed did not want to show her face on camera or reveal her identity, although police say there is no threat to the public whatsoever. they believe this was solely confined to that apartment behind me. they urge anyone with information about this homicide, call fairfax county police

name of the woman or the victim in this case. live here in alexandria, the fairfax county, the shomari stone. a van overturned and the helicopter flew over the site. northbound and southbound lanes had to close briefly for a medical helicopter to land. there's no word yet on that person's condition or what caused the crash. we now know the name of a person hit and killed by a car in prince georges county last night. 54 year old jose barrios was trying to cross river view when he was struck. the driver did stay on the scene. a staffing shakeup. news 4

from metro detailing staff changes specifically within its rail operations department. it is dated april 15th, days before the smoke incident over the red line over the weekend. we learn tonight that incident was caused by a metal piece of a rail car becoming dislodged and touching the third rail. it led to some frightening moments for passengers who told them it made them think of the smoke that killed a passenger at the station last year. after a long stretch of beautiful days in the 70s and 80s, get ready. we have changes coming our way, and it all begins tomorrow. >> you mentioned the long stretch. it was 15 days, 15 days in a re of sunshine. 15 days in a row of nice temperatures with a scattering of rain here and there. but the changes are coming, and they're coming pretty quickly.

tonight donald trump is calling out his two rivals for brokering a deal to divide some of the other remaining states. >> for those supporters of john kasich, either here or at home, there may be issues on which we disagree, but more unites us. >> that's senator ted cruz earlier tonight making a direct plea to kasich voters. their campaigns have come up with a coordinated effort to cede certain states to the other in order to block trump. so cruz is giving up on oregon and new mexico so that kasich can focus on those primaries. trump called it pathetic, and tonight he issued them both an ultimatum. >> one is 1-41. the other one, he's like a total disaster. folks, they ought to both drop out of the race so we ought to unify the republican party. deal is, it doesn't apply to any of the five states voting tomorrow or the biggest prize of all, california. jim? new since 6:00 tonight, investigators are trying to find out how a student died. fairfax county police tell us ho sun lee was stabbed to death. he was found sunday afternoon. he lived with his sister and parents. investigators did tow a car from that scene today. they have not named any suspects is. d.c. mayor is vowing to step up the police presence around wilson high school as police work to find whoever stabbed a student on his way to school this weekend. bowser told a group of reporters the police are trying to find out what happened. the student was approachedby

person who tried to rob him. the student was stabbed in the leg and is expected to be okay. the redskins want to take their trademark battle all the way to the u.s. supreme court and are citing a similar case involving a rock band. the u.s. trademark office rejected the team's trademark last year you'll recall. the team sued, lost, and is now appealing the case to an appeals court based in richmond. now team attorneys want the supreme court to step in first, because the justices may be taking up a similar case involving the name of a rock band that some find offensive. the high court has not yet decided whether to hear either case. the owner of an arlington gun store is suing 64 people, including elected officials, claiming they conspired to destroy the business, harassed the owner and landlord and mailed death threats to a teenage employee. nova armory opened last month despite objections from many in the community. the store owner said he had to

are calling lockdowns more often than they used to, because some local districts, fairfax, prince georges and howard counties aren't keeping formal count. scott mcfarland, news 4 i-team. a stafford county couple whose grandson faces charges of downloading child pornography is fighting those charges. they have raised 27-year-old mikey since he was a toddler. he has as beperger's syndrome. they say he's more like a 12 year old. and if he's convicted and sent to jail they worry it could kill him. >> does he fully comprehend the actions, and i think the answer is no. but does that raise to the level of not guilty by reason of insanity. >> originally they didn't think prosecutors would pursue charges based on his medical

counts. news 4 called the prosecutor's office to get a response. we haven't received a response yet. house fires sparked by lightning. tomorrow more dangerous weather has 25 million people across the plains states on alert tonight. school districts in danger zones will meet in the morning to decide whether to close. today the storms damaged cars and houses and lightning started several fires. the national weather service says tomorrow is expected to be worse. >> pretty intense, doug. is that going to affect us in anyway? >> that system is not coming to us. that will be in kansas, oklahoma, northern texas. and they could be in for one of the bigger outbreaks we've seen this year. it is starting to get into that time of year. for us we do have a chance for strong storms coming from a different system. right now, a very nice ni

upper 70s, low to mid-80s, even the upper 80s in some locations. at 11:00 at night, we're sitting at 67 degrees. still very mild. 69 out towards dulles. 74 at kwaunts coe. a couple storms on the radar, couple showers up towards baltimore and hartford county. not much going on. these are sliding away from us. and there may be a few more early tomorrow. we have another frontal boundary trying to come through. then back to the west we have another one. this brought severe weather to chicago and then another one back to the north. that's going to come through tomorrow. what that is, is going to be a cold front. we're going to be on the mild side, the very warm side. here we are 8:00 tomorrow morning. no problems. another great start to the day. we see a partial front move on through. by 1:00 in the afternoon we should clear out, see more

the low to mid-80s. then we start to seat bette the chance of showers developing. if we see some of these showers develop we could see a couple stronger storms. the biggest potential here is the potential for strong winds. and then on wednesday we see a northeasterly flow. maybe drizzle and cloud cover that's going to be out there. wednesday, much more of a dryeay day. look at the showers around noon. that's kind of an ugly day. we're kind of due for an ugly day. wednesday might be the day. severe thunderstorm threat, tornado threat very low, but it's still there. high winds, hail, a little bit above low, but not a big severe weather threat day, it's just something we'll be watching for sure. 62 degrees when you head out to the bus stop, nice and mild. tomorrow afternoon, 85 degrees, starting to see an increase in showers, but i think the kids will get home okay from the bus stop. next couple of days, 85
