a woman was killed after she was shot on the highway by a child in the backseat of her car. this happened in milwaukee. the woman may have left a handgun under the edge of the driver's seat. it then slid to the back where the boy found it. the woman was 26 years old. two men are facing charges for stabbing a teenager in northwest washington. news4 was there as d.c. police put the men in handcuffs. the officers tell us they may have known the victim. this attack happened yesterday morning on 13th street in the petworth neighborhood just a few blocks away from roosevelt high school. construction workers tell us they couldn't help but hear the commotion. >> three cop cars came and then seven cop cars.

they were like, put yourup, put blank hands up. >> back there it was really, really loud. >> d.c. police say the victim should be okay. officers think the stabbing was the result of an ongoing argument. students who are about to start their college careers aren't improving. in fact, only 37% of them are ready for the coursework they face. that's according to new numbers about the naep, the standardized tests used all over the country. the latest results say high school seniors' math scores haven't improve in a decade. reading scores have gone down five points since 1992. the new chip cards, the credit card and debit card, are adding time at the cash register. turns out the new technology meant to keep your information safe is taking about 15 extra seconds at the checkout. now stores and credit card companies are working to try to cut down that time. >> any time we can improve the
