line because of a malfunction at franconia and springfield. we have a crash on 85 near buckeystown pike. there's a crash on the left shoulder there. and 75 at ed mcclain road, we have a crash reported in that area of monrovia as well. northbound gw parkway near the roosevelt bridge, we have a spinout causing slowdowns. we'll have travel times in ten minutes. right now a busy commuter line is back up and running for the first time this week. sunday's csx train derailment shut down the marc brunswick like. here's more from erika gonzalez. >> reporter: after a couple days of

gets back to a regular operating schedule today. there could be minor hiccups, but for the most part things resume normalcy in this area. this after a csx train carrying hazardous materials derailed sunday morning spilling hundreds of gallons of sodium hydroxide. so the line we are speaking of was blocked between union station and silver spring. so a lot of people wound up taking metro instead. we're told the 5 of the 16 cars that derailed have been taken away from the site, hence things getting back to normal. a number of passengers already boarded the first train. folks i spoke to said it was a bit of an inconvenience but they found a way around it. >> and i think metro allowing us to use their marc cars made it very easy. >> stuff happens and you just have to roll with the punches. >> reporter: again, the marc brunswick line back to normal this morning. live in gthersburg, i'm erika gonzalez, back to you. thank you. now sunday's derailment and the

d.c. delegate eleanor holmes norton and the federal railroad administration. norton is concerned about the long-term impacts that spill could have on residents living in that area. now yesterday csx said they removed the soil affected by the hazmat situation. officials will also discuss what kind of chemicals are allowed to travel through the district. it is now 6:03. people who died keeping our community safe will be honored in special ceremonies today. the services are part of national police week. this morning in montgomery county officer noah liata's name will be added to a memorial wall. a drunk driver hit and killed him last year. this morning's services begin at 10:30. later tonight prince george's county will add detective jakai coalson to its list. a fellow officer

shot him after thinking he was a suspect. and a man is taken into custody by d.c. police after stabbing a metro bus driver, hijacking the bus and then hitting and killing a pedestrian. keith loving got on the bus at 10:30 yesterday morning along jay street northeast. police say he attacked the driver with a needle-nose pliers. the driver managed to get off the bus. loving then drove a short distance before crashing the bus into a gas station parking lot where he allegedly hit anthony payne who later died. pape payne's neighbors say he was a nice person. >> he was a nice person. he always tried to help anybody and everybody. >> loving is facing murder charges. to decision 2016 now and the surprise announcement making the race for president perhaps a little less complicated. >> with a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism for the

long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign. >> with that concession, donald trump becomes the likely republican presidential nominee. trump called senator cruz's choice to drop out brave and interestingly cruz's speech came before results revealed trump overwhelmingly won the indiana primary. the front-runner now needs fewer than 200 delegates to take the republican presidential nomination. to the democrats now, a win in indiana for senator bernie sanders. he picked up 43 new delegates but is still nearly 800 behind hillary clinton. senator sanders is vowing to continue pushing his platform all the way through the democratic convention in july. both senator sanders and clinton are expected to make appearances in the d.c. area today. we have learned that more takata air bags may be taken off the market. government sources tell nbc news that the company may have to recall as many as 35

this is on top of the 29 million already recalled. those inflaters can explode with too much force and spray metal shards. at least 11 people have died worldwide and more than 100 people have been hurt. game four and the capitals could use a win tonight for sure. this could be a turning point in the playoffs. one thing that could make a difference in the game is that the pittsburgh penguins will not have defenseman kris letang available to play. he was suspended for a checking on monday. we showed you the hard-hit on monday. the caps are on the road and will be back on saturday. go caps! and there's a watch party on the jumbotron at the verizon center. the doors open at 7:00 with the game at 8:00. it should be a good time. another way the team is reaching out to fans is by getting them when they are young.

ammazzalorso. and it can happen to anyone, you max out your credit card and the company cuts you off. that happened to the d.c. government in the middle of the blizzard 2016. tom sherwood explains. >> reporter: i'm tom sherwood in the district. have you ever maxed out your credit card so much so that the company cut you off? it happened to the district this past winter. during the big blizzard in late january, the city scrambled to hire private contractors to remove the snow. speed things up, it put millions of dollars on city credit cards. so much so jpmorgan cut off the city's credit. to the administrator a rashad young, he said the city's credit was quickly restored. >> it was resolved in over 24 hours so it did not affect our

today president obama will check federal response efforts to flint's water crisis. he'll give full remarks after touring the city. he also will meet with community members and residents during his visit. the city switched its water source to the flint river in 2014 which caused lead to seep into the drinking water. 6:34, and work will continue to repair the turf on the national mall today. this is the final phase of the project. kristin wright is live on the mall now with more on how long this will all take. kristin? >> reporter: good morning. sod has never been so exciting. no one wants to see the mall look the way it does right now, all this mud and construction. and before that it was patchy with bald spots all over. well, good news, it's going to be very pretty soon. the national mark service just let us know they are getting close. the first rolls of sod are on the ground officially and it's nice. so green.

d.c. police after stabbing a bus driver, hijacking the bus and hitting and killing a pedestrian. keith loving was on the bus at 10:30 yesterday morning along jay street northeast. police say he attacked the driver with needle-noise pliers. the driver managed to get off the bus. loving then drove a short distance before crashing the bus into a gas station parking lot where he allegedly hit anthony payne who later died. cathy lanier says it was an unusual attack. >> bizarre accident. very characteristic for someone to try to take a bus, attack a bus driver. >> loving is now facing murder charges. we are in the middle of national police week. and today two local police officers will be honored for the sacrifices they made for our communities. first in montgomery county you may remember a drunk driver allegedly hit and killed officer liata late last year. he later died from his injuries. at 10:30 this morning, law enforcement officials will add

[000:53:59;00] southbound bw parkway after the beltway, that's southbound, not northbound, you can see the delays building as you cross the beltway. northbound indian head highway before kerby road we have a crash blocking the lane to slow things inbound at indian head highway and the rest of prince george's county is looking good. overall, the beltway is pretty typical. outer loop there passing new hampshire, it's a little slow. so is the inner loop approaching the woodrow wilson bridge. eastbound, the southeast freeway just past the exit for the 3rd street tunnel we have the two right lanes blocked here this morning. 66 at 95, no problems. 270 at montrose a little slow southbound. and 15 south of point of rocks bridge, we have the overturned truck there. no more blue line delays. this just into the live desk, the tsa announcing it will add more officers to relieve all the backups at the airport security checkpoints.
