flights and almost all ended up in a parking lot here at sky harbor. the tsa experienced what they are calling an unprecedented computer issue and could it automatically screen the bags for explosives. they have been bringing in extra k-9 units to do it manually but so many bags were stacking up they had to send them to the parking lot. now passengers are flying 0 it of phoenix with idea when their luggage l catch up to them. southwest alone is driving 1500 bags to las vegas where they have to be screened and eventually rerouted to the final destinations. >> what a mess. thank you, chris. the issues in phoenix come at 'worse possible time for the tsa. the agency's leader was grilled on capitol hill for growing wait times at airports across the country. the tsa is screening more passengers than ever. sometimes 3 million a day.

trucks whizzing by. new at lemp, some confusion for metro riders after the transit agency says a track problem on the red line is to blame for the delays. jackie bensen is live with more on what happened and what it could mean tomorrow morning. jackie? >> reporter: this was not a big problem by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a confusing problem if you are a rider. what we're told, just over an hour ago there was a report of a possible arcing insulator here. fire department showed up and decided metro maintenance could handle it. metro, according to a tweet, was single tracking through the area. we have something to show you right now, which is metro's own alert. you can see the difference between the two of them 9:58 p.m.,s red line no longer single tracking between van ness and medical center.

james walls. he was discovered dead in his home this afternoon. right now there are no signs of foul play. an autopsy will determine the 39-year-old's cause of death. in 2006, walls became the youngest person elected mayor of district heights. governor hogan called him a dedicated beloved public servant. imagine working all day without using the bathroom. those are the conditions a new report claims poultry workers are forced to endure. the report says some workers wear diapers to be able to stay on the line. others restrict how much they drink to avoid using the bathroom. tonight perdue and tyson are responding. perdue says employees get two 30-minute breaks every eight

million americans are living with alzheimer's. as the baby boomers age, that number will explode. as of today there' no cure or effective treatment. the late bo biden was honored at the hope awards. he died of cancer last year but recognized by the center for missing and exploiting children as a leader in child protection. the hope awards are presented each may in honor of national missing children's day. doug gets back with more about our weather. it was quite an accomplishment today. no rain, not even a drop. >> not even a drop of rain. it only takes 100th of a measurable rain to be counted as a day of rain and we saw 15 in a row and today was not 16. >> the streak ended. >> but a small streak. we are talking about more rain tomorrow and on saturday. look outside, a

walk outside, it is quite nice. 63 degrees. winds from the south at 6 miles an hour. what we are dealing with are temperatures above where they normally are this time of the year. everybody in the 60s with clear skies. we fall quickly but with the clos we don't go anywhere. look at the clouds around our area. philadelphia, new york today, they saw nice weather, 70s in new york city today. for us, everybody's been asking, where's the sun? well, that's been a common theme. an area of high pressure to the north, we get a northeasterly flow. i showed you the same graphic last week. it is cold air wedge and it wedges against the blue ridge mountains. it is amazing these clouds move to the blue ridge. to the west they saw sun, back to the shenandoah valley it was sunny. what this gives you is cool, cloudy conditions. showers and drizzle, but the pattern breaks tomorrow. you need something to break t

it's going to be a cold front. the radar picking up a couple of showers around warrenton, not much. most of this will not make its way in to d.c. notice what is happening here in d.c. and to the west. we are watching this area of low pressure. that will come through tomorrow. heads up early tomorrow morning. again, 8 a.m., i expect to see some shower activity. take the umbrella here. this is a new model. not giving us much. around noon, we are seeing the rain around here. i thif we will see rain in the 8:00, 9:00 tomorrow morning. take the prel umbrella. the clouds move out and the sun comes out and everybody gets out of the house. there will be so many people out you won't be able to move. it's a good thing. we start with sunshine saturday morning. if you are going out friday night, no problem. or saturday morning no problem. but watch the rain come in around 2:00, 3:00.
