>> they are taking a class over two days to receive security training. smith retired from the san diego police department after working there for 20 years. he now trains bouncers nationwide and says one of the things they look for is a convincing fake i.d. made in china. >> when a bouncer is checking i.d., i mean, not many self respecting terrorists are going to use their own legitimate i.d. they will get a china fake. >> reporter: last year they hit cafes, restaurants and a music venue. mark lee is the director of the night life and hospitality association and supports the training to keep the d.c. night life safe. >> this training, programs like this, are how we ensure our member businesses are prepared for any scenario already told the group how to remain vigilant. he is a bouncer and said the training helped

>> you don't want to -- for those things it makes me look at it twice. >> robert smith says terrorists aren't the only ones that can use fake i.d.s. he said some of the under-aged drinkers could use them and bouncers have been instructed to keep the i.d.s and tell the people to call the police if they want them back. in adams morgan, shomari stone, news 4. >> the ntsb tonight working to figure out what caused this deadly plane crash in orange county, virginia. take a look. the plane went down 4:30 this afternoon in roseville, 40 miles west of fredericksburg. two people on board died. police are working to notify their families. no one on the ground was injured. we learned a 16-year-old girl died after hit by a car almost three weeks ago at east-west highway and 23rd avenue.

the driver stayed on the scene. she has not been charged. incredible pictures showing a large destructive tornado sweeping through parts of kansas. >> a little bit of lightning in the area. >> reporter: storm chasers captured this video tonight as the twister touched down just outside of dodge city. the national weather service confirms it destroyed someone's home as it moved north. some minor damage is reported in other parts of the city. severe storms are hammering the plain and residents have been posting photos showing the sky almost completely blacked out. you could see a funnel cloud in scott city, 90 miles from dodge and someone snapped a picture of what looks to be two funnel clouds forming in dodge city itself. injuries have been reported 300 miles away in oklahoma and part of at least one highway is completely blocked by

target. montgomery county police tell us they have had 35 wheel-related thefts since march. we talked to one woman who found her cadillac es ska laid this morning up on cinder blocks in her driveway. experts say to keep the car in the garage in you can and consider buying wheel locks. the owners in this case had wheel locks but the thieves broke in and got the key. firefighters in prince georges county could be wearing ballistic vests like police officers after last month's shooting of two firefighters. one of them died after they forced their way in to a home to help a man they believed was in medical distress. the fire chief is looking to equipping the firefighters with this added layer of protection. the vest costs between 400 and $500 each. >> number one, does our member feel safe doing their job with that vest on? will it provide

the event something should happen again. >> reporter: fire departments across the country are begun to use these vests. they could be tested in prince georges county between now and october. tsa precheck is supposed to shorten your wait time at the airport. with summer coming and waits getting longer here's what you need to know if you plan to apply. you can complete the application on-line but you need to go to a tsa service center for fingerprinting, all five in the d.c. area have month-long backlogs. applications can take a month to approve. if you start now it could be july before you are enrolled. we have a link to the on-line application in the nab washington app. search precheck. vice president biden stepping up his push to fight cancer. we learned he will host a national cancer summit in d.c. it will bring together scientists, oncologists and

types of cancer. it is set for june 29th at howard university. a woman convicted of animal cruelty against 66 dogs. she charges are all misdemeanors but could lead to years behind bars. jackie bensen is live with how police uncovered this abuse. jackie? >> caller: authorities came to the rockville home to look for one dog who had bitten someone at an adoption event. a what they found was appalling. these are the paws of a chihuahua mix dog found in the home during a search warrant served on 234u year's day. court documents say that officers choked and gagged as they made their way through the home. they found 66 dogs of all sizes, many in plastic airline crates that covered nearly every inch of the floor. one dog with paralyzed legs who had been sitting in his

exkramt for sometime. another matted with a half-pound of urine-soak fur. the documents reveal catherine chung, who owns the house initially lied to officers telling them only 20 dogs were in the house. a judge found her guilty of 66 counts of animal cruelty. they are misdemeanor crimes but each carries jail time. >> your heart cries out for these creatures. again, because they don't have anyone to stick up for them. we make sure that these crimes go punished. >> reporter: no one answered the door at the home. the windows remain covered by sheets and blankets. a facebook page for forever homes animal rescue that shares the same address as the house claims to be helping dogs in high kill shelters escape death and find forever loving homes. the post which stopped in august, contained photos of many that matched the description of those found in the home.

news 4 went house hunting today trying to figure out where the first family will live when they leave the white house in january. the national journal is reporting some sources that say the obamas picked a home. they are trying to find out if this might be the obama's new address but the phone went dead when he called the realtor. it rents for $9500 a month. >> nice fixer upper there. >> yeah. they write the laws but seems they don't have to follow the rules. >> an investigation for the news 4 i-team found congress isn't following the federal government standards for providing accommodations for parents. tonight scott mcfarland says some say the hill isn't as family friendly as it should be. >> here we go. >>

miller will be a big brothermom. shea miller is a 13-year congressional staffer and miller remembers what it was like making the long walk from her car to the office when she was pregnant with sean. >> i remember when i was pregnant the first time, coming in, sparking in the garage and 15 minutes of waddling to my office. >> from your spot. >> from my spot to the office. >> because there are no designated spots for expecting moms. a house subcommittee made a note of it saying they would provide temporary parking for pregnant women, even though the federal government doesn't require it. sense the subcommittee thinks it is a priority for the capitol complex to add more baby changing stations inside of the dozens of restrooms on the campus. >> reporter: that could be a bigger problem because congress is so short o

and family restrooms it fails to meet the government's standards for federal buildings and it doesn't have to because it exempted itself from the rules. in newer government facility the feds require one changing table on every floor. other than those in the modern capitol visitor's center we found nine in all of the u.s. house, less than half required. >> that's an easy fix went we should do it. >> reporter: jackie spears a long-time house member from california and a former staffer. >> a bigger issue here, this is not a family friendly work environment. >> reporter: the i-team found congress doesn't meet the federal government standards for lackation stations for moms, that standard requires six stations for every 1,000 female workers with an estimated 7,000 female employees in congress it would require 42 stations. the i-team review found there are 12 and those are relatively new. before 2007 there were none in the u.s. house.

click on investigation on our app. this was a time when most kids who went off to college never moved back home. now a growing population are moving back in with mom and dad. according to the pew research center for the first time on record living with parents is the most common arrangement for millennials, those a aged 18 to 34. the study points to several reasons including falling wages, student debt an young adults postponing marriage. if you plan to leave town for the holiday weekend and thought you would beat the traffic by leaving on thursday, think again. >> thursday may be worse than friday, folks. the council of governments transportation planning board looked at the last several memorial day weekends in the washington area and found thursday afternoon rush saw much more traffic than anytime on friday. on average it took people 50 to 100% longer to get to their destinations. if
