gri grilling on capitol hill. he will testify before the committee just days ahead of the big travel city. the agency is still dealing with long lines at the airports. on tuesday he admitted there were failings at multiple levels. >> i think it is the case that we have had an institutional failure and not a failure of any one individual. >> among the changes the agency announced this week was the creation of a centralized command team at tsa headquarters. more people are signing up for tsa precheck. the agency has received twice the applications since april doubling from 8,000 to 16,000. the application can be completed online but you still need to go through a tsa service center for fingerprinting. all five service centers in the

16-year-old died of her injuries after being hit by a car in chillum on may 4th. police say the teen was in the crosswalk but did not have a walk signal at the time of the crash. the driver has not been charged. and federal investigators will now be working to find out what caused the plane to crash in orange county, virginia, killing two people on board. that single-engine plane went down around 4:30 yesterday in roseville south of culpeper. state police have not released the names of the victims. we continue to monitor president obama's travels through asia. we know he just left ho chi minh city, vietnam, earlier this morning. he's in the air on air force one but we'll get video from the departure. he's on his way to japan. we just got the itinerary and they added a meeting with the country's prime minister. and this possibly means that he will be giving remarks after that and taki

street because she's taken so much money from them. >> tracie potts on the hill for us, thank you. 4:46. another day of testimony is set to begin in the trial of andrew schmuhl. he's charged with the torture of a virginia couple in november 2014. new evidence released in court yesterday shows dash cam video from the night fairfax county officers chased schmuhl and his wife on the beltway. in the police cruiser, schmuhl told officers he had taken several prescription pills that led to the attack. today the second trial begins against a falls church nurse accused of up appropriately touching a patient. 38-year-old jared klein faces charges for abusing three patients in washington. earlier klein was acquitted of incidents happening at the hospital center. we now know the names of two peopleou

18-year-old danesha simpson and 29-year-old elvin draper were found dead at 3600 jugensen drive. the deaths do not appear to be random. and 18-year-old david evers turned himself in for making and selling drugs and imitation controlled sub stances. alexia springer was found dead in her home after an apparent overdose which is related to this crime. and two men were arrested on a crime spree for robbing a jewelry store in the brookville plaza. an officer confronted one of the suspects leaving and the shoot-out followed. a passing driver was hit

we are off to a accident start this morning. we'll look at your closer hour-by-hour forecast with chuck bell coming up. and the police department is holding an outreach meeting tonight at 7:00. fairfax city received a grant to help buy cameras and implement the program. now it is developing a new policy on how and when the cameras will be used. and firefighters in prince george's county may soon get some extra protection. they could start wearing bullet-proof vests just like police officers. this comes after last month's shooting of two firefighters. one of them died after they entered the temple hills home to help a man they thought was in medical
