later in the broadcast with what to expect on the campaign trail today and a new attack ad for bernie sanders. and it is 5:04. happening today, the head of the tsa will face a grilling on capitol hill. tsa administrator peter nessinger will testify before the house and homeland security. this comes 24 hours after a big shakeup at the agency where the head of security was reassigned. just days ahead of the big summer travel season as the agency tries to deal with the long lines at our airports. on tuesday nessinger admitted there were failings at multiple levels. >> i think it is an institutional failure, not the failure of any one individual. >> he wants to create a centralized command team at tsa headquarters. more people are signing up for tsa precheck to shorten their wait times at the airport. the agency is seeing twice as many ic

shootings of two firefighters last month. they were on a welfare check call at a home in temple hill. they believed they were told that the home opener was in medical distress. when they forced their way in, they were shot. one of the firefighters died. the homeowner later told police he believed they were intruders. the fire chief wants to make sure firefighters feel safe here in prince george's county. >> we have had several requests from our membership as well as the firefighters union to at least take a look at vests and see if it's something that will make our personnel safer. >> the vests the chief tried on weighs between 3 to 4 pounds and cost $400 to $500 a piece. so this is a significant investment. the chief expects to make a decision sometime this year. in prince george's county, darcy spencer, news4. happening today, michael

today a teacher at a newtown, connecticut, school will appear in court on gun charges. prosecutors say jason adams was carrying a loaded pistol inside newtown middle school and pleads not guilty. adams had a valid gun permit when arrested. school policy strictly forbids guns on school property. the middle school is in the same town as sandy hook elementary. 20 first graders and 6 educators were killed in a mass shooting inside that school in 2012. a family from potomac could be the latest victim in a string of wheel thefts in montgomery county. during the night all four wheels were stolen from their cadillac escalade park in the driveway. the thieves left the car resting on cinder blocks. the thieves broke in through a back window and found the lug lock key. since march 1st there have been about 35 wheel theft incidents in montgomery county. good morning, i'm landon
