a stabbing at a d.c. jail. this happened last night at the d.c. central detention facility in southeast. we're working to find out if the victims are jail staff or inmates. the jail was put on lockdown during that incident. it was one year ago today that d.c. reporter charnice milton was killed by a stray bullet in southeast. police say several atv and dirt bike riders were involved in a shoot-out and milton was used as a human shield. while her murder remains unsolved, that hasn't stopped the determination to catch the killer from the community or police. >> we never give up, we neff stop taking information, we never stop trying to close homicide cases. so i try and reiterate that as much as i can to family members. >> charnice's family is planning a vigil tonight on the corner where she was shot last year. good hope and thatnaylor road i southeast.

all the district pools and spray parks officially open tomorrow from noon to 6:00. after that, they will open at 11:00. 6:05. if you plan to use metro this holiday weekend, pack some patience. all the lines will be affected by repair work and there will be no orange line service. silver line service will replace the orange trains. also the vienna, dunn loring and west falls church stations will be closed. shuttle buses will be available for rides at those closed stations. you will also want to pay attention to metro's memorial day hours. on monday, metrorail will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at midnight. trains will operate on a sunday schedule. metrobuses will run on a sunday schedule, as well. metroaccess has been canceled for monday, but customers can make a separate reservation. a massive emergency repair project on the arlington memorial bridge is now complete. for the last year, the park se

the coast of north carolina. this happened yesterday morning. the navy says the two jets were on a routine training mission when they had an in-flight mishap about 25 mile east of the outer banks. the commercial fishing ship pulled all four crew members from the ocean. they were taken to a hospital in more folk. the navy is now investigating to determine what went wrong. this weekend kicks off the unofficial start of summer meaning that most pools will be open for business. but before you get ready to enjoy fun in the sun, experts say you want to pay close attention to your little ones. while drownings among kids and teens have slightly declined in the past few years, still about 350 drown every year. toddlers up to about four years old are most at risk here. experts suggest that you learn cpr as well and if you have a backyard, they recommend that you install some safety fencing around your backyard pool if you have one of those with a lock on

investigators charged the suspect with murder. takoma park police have not said how the suspect knew the victim. a flower delivery turned into a robbery when the driver decided to let himself into a woman's house. anthony reeves now facing several charges. according to montgomery county police, this is him in a surveillance video trying to deliver those flowers to a home in ken zecsington on the day be easter. he cased the house and went in and took cash, debit card and ipad. police tell us reeves may have used his position as a delivery driver to commit more crimes and they're looking for additional victims. let's just say you had a million dollars to spare. just sitting on that kind of money. could you do a lot with it, maybe buy a nice home in d.c., maybe an entire town in west virginia. you're looking at sugar grove station, a former u.s. naval base and it's up for
