>> jack taylor for us. thank you. this tin the day ahead, pri george's county schools will take steps to protect your child. molette green is live with more on the report regarding the school abuse case that rocked prince george's county. she's joining us live from one of the schools there in the county. >> reporter: good morning, aaron. yes, horrible allegations of sex abuse involving as many as 19 children. some of these incidents of abuse reportedly happened right here at this school, judge still vyl woods elementary where deonte carraway worked as an aid. they will look at the case and looking at school policy and the task force will release its findings. police found videos they say carraway made of children having sex with him and children having sex with each other. and some of

the incidents happened at this school, church and other locations. police arrested carraway back in february and the case sent shockwaves throughout the county. they set up an independent study. and now what blew the lid open on this was a 9-year-old boy's uncle who happened to see a nude image on the boy's cellphone and went to police. carraway has pleaded not guilty to numerous counts of sexually exploiting children. that is the latest live outside judge sylvania woods elementary in glenarden. back to you. also today, in upper marlboro, a murder trial unlike almost any other. jury selection will begin in the case against jermaine hales. hales is accused of shooting melvin tate in 2010. the shooting paralyzed tate who died of his injuries less than two years later. prosecutors argued tate was able to identify hisot

blinking at a picture of hales. if a judge allows the identification into evidence, it will be the first time that has happened in maryland. we're hearing about another missile launch attempt from north korea. however this morning south korea says it believes that missile exploded on the launch pad. you're looking at a separate missile launch from earlier in year. if this most recent launch really blew up, it would be the fourth time north korea failed to fire mid range missile, the kind that could potentially reach some american military bases. early voting begins today to washington's democratic primary p. residents can mark their ballots starting at 8:30 this morning at one judiciary square. early voting centers across other parts of town open this saturday. early voting ends on july 11. presidential hopefuls campaigning across the country today. bernie sanders will stay in california after a bit of a scare at a rally in oakland. a group of animalig

protesters tried to rush the stage last night. secret service agents surrounded senator sanders. they were able to get the protesters out of the rally. at this point no charges have been filed. security is top of mind in cleveland today ahead of this summer's republican national convention. the city will present its comprehensive security plan this morning. cleveland hopes to triple its police force to as many as 5,000 officers. it's also ordered extra equipment including steel barriers in anticipation of demonstrations. the convention runs july 18 through the 21. eight people dead, that is the new number in this morning from texas emergency officials. they say two women and a teenage boy are among the people who have died in those widespread floods. dozens of people have also been rescued from the water in the last several day. the rain isn't falling at this hour, but river levels are rising and putting flood warnings in effect. texas is also expecting the another 5 inches of rain in the

andrew schmuhl's wife in a herndon gun store buying a taser. prosecutors say the taser was used in the three hour attack against the mclean couple in 2014. defense attorneys are hoping to prove that andrew schmuhl was just carrying out his wife's orders and was too medicated to be held accountable. today four drug offenders in prince george's county will receive a second chance at a fresh start. back on track program begins today aimed at reducing the rate at which first time low level felony drug dealers relapse into criminal behavior. the first four will be sentenced to community service and job training instead of jail time. nationals mvp may or may not lay today because bryce harper was plunked by a pitch. he was only diagnosed with a bruise, but you can see the pain he was in when it

just got this in from alexandria city public schools. the district saying that it started testing the water in all of the schools over the memorial day weekend. officials also noting that this is simply a proactive measure and there is no reason for concern especially when it comes to a normal lead levels. however, they decided to do this following a meeting with the city's water supplier. the testing they say will wrap up next month in june and the results will be released. i'm angie goff at the live desk. back to you.

university. ian mccall has resigned as vice president and director of athletics. he's the third high ranking administrator to leave since news broke of the mishandling of sex assault allegations involving members of the football team. the head football coach was dismissed last week and the school president was reappointed to a different position within the university. joaquin el chapo guzman only has about a month longer to decide whether he will appeal a u.s. extradition request. the case could go all the way to the supreme court. el chapo is a convicted cartel boss, he is wanted in seven u.s. jurisdictions on charges from everything from murder to conspiracy to distribute cocaine. there was confusion over a possible appeal after multiple filings from his lawyers essentially negate each other. we are now hearing from russia about north korea's latest
