definitive cause in a gaithersburg plane crash that a killed a mother and her two children. in its preliminary report, the agency said ice may have played a significant role. documents revealed the plane encountered icing conditions while trying to land at the montgomery county air park in december of 2014. the three men on board and the woman and two young children inside the home were killed. a fredericksburg woman is recovering in the hospital after crashing this plane. chopper 4 flew over the scene last night. troopers say roberta was going down the runway when she unintentionally lifted it off the runway and crashed. today council could vote to raise the minimum wage to $15. the measure would also increase the minimum wage for tipped workers to $5.50

died in police custody two years ago in prince george's county is filing a civil lawsuit. she believes the video proves that samuel shields was mistreated by corrections officers. we should warn you some of what you're about to see may be disturbing. this is surveillance video from inside the prince george's county detention center there june of 2014. it shows several corrections officers trying to restrain samuel shields. a spokesman told news 4 back then that shields was disruptive, was separated from other inmates and then went into medical distress. he died at the hospital. >> when i first saw it, i couldn't sleep for two nights. i was having a lot of anxiety over that video. >> a spokesman for the detention center says the department cannot comment on the video because it's part of pending litigation. a bizarre home invasion trial keeps getting stranger in

doctors for andrew schmuhl testified that they diagnosed him with a low testosterone and fatigue. schmuhl's lawyers argue that he was impaired by multiple medications when he tasered, stabbed and shot a lawyer and his wife. the defense also claims schmuhl's wife was the one who ordered the attack. a juror could make a decision today in the case of antwon pitt. he's accused of raping a woman and a string of crimes in two weeks including cutsing off his ankle monitor before the attack. we now know it was a 21-year-old atv passenger who was killed in frederick, maryland. the frederick county sheriff's office says chris mundy died after the atv he was on ran head-on into a car near michaels mill road. authorities say the atv driver, a 29-year-old, was going too fast and failed to fll

traffic control device. he's now in a hospital in baltimore with critical injuries. two people in the car were taken to the hospital, as well, with nonlife threatening injuries. the driver of in metrobus is in the hospital with serious injuries. the bus collided with a pickup truck before it slammed in to a tree yesterday afternoon. ten passengers were also taken to the hospital with less serious injuries. police issued the truck driver a reckless driving citation which he plans to tight. >> he hit me and that's why i lost control and then he lose control, toorgs wh too when he . >> that bus was headed to montgomery westfield mall at the time of the crash. i'm angie goff here at the live desk with breaking news out of turkey where a car bomb has gone off and killed 11 people. this includes seven police officers. you're look at new video into the newsroom after this attack. this happened in

don't forget your child. a new study out this morning shows big gaps in how long people are expected to live in northern virginia based on where they live. take a look. it shows the life expectancy of a child born in a richer part of the country, it can be as much as 13 years higher than those born in the poorest. a baby born in lorton, for example, is expected to live until 89 years old, while a child in manassas has life expectancy of 76. researchers say it can be linked to access to health care, but the biggest factors are income, education and race. back to you. the trial of baltimore police officer goodson is expected to begin thursday. he's the officer charged with the most serious crime it in the death of freddie gray. the judge granted his request for a b

jury trial. meaning the judge will decide his fate. gray died after suffering a broken neck in the back of a police van last year. officer goodson was driving that van. he faces second-degree murder, manslaughter and other charges. a case that rocked prince george's county is far from over. a task force will look into howed a hin straight tors handled deonte carraway. he faces federal charges for sexually assaulting student. last year a separate task force laid out more than 60 recommendations to prevent sex abuse at county schools. more than 300 people called in to a town hall to discuss those suggestions. you can find the recommendations in our nbc washington app. today we will find out if voters in fairfax county will get to weigh in on a proposed meal tax. the board of supervisors set to vote on putting that tax to a referendum vote in november. it would mean that voters would have to decide whether the county should tax prepared foods at restaurants and stores up to

virginia, that's the far outlying areas of rain associated with tropical storm colin which is still well down to the south off the coast of savannah georgia. max winds are only at about 50 miles per hour, but the storm is racing northeastward at better than 30 miles per hour. so at that speed and track, the official forecast from the hurricane center keeps this storm well offshore. the outer banks of north carolina right a there, so it will be moving away from the eastern coast of the united states. there is a weather front, that is our rain chance today, back across parts of pennsylvania now. not much rain associated with it just yet. add a little daytime heating to the mix, though, and i do think we have a chance of bubbling up some showers. here is future weather and i'll time it out for you. all dry this morning, but at noontime, a bubbling up of showers just as the front comes through. the front should be passing the i-95 corridor between about 4:00 and 5:00. here is 3:00 p.m., showers moving in to southern maryland
