we've learned a woman died in an accident in the shenandoah river. the jefferson county virginia sheriff's office says several people were on board either a kayak or a tube that capsized yesterday. their investigators say everyone except that woman is expected to survive. she was 40 years old. i'm angie goff at the live desk. tracking the very latest with tropical storm colin which is moving toward the atlantic. florida washed out by the storm earlier, heavy rain and strong winds made a big impact. took down a lot of trees, a lot of power lines especially near the tampa area. forecasters predicting now up to 8 inches of rain possible in florida and georgia through the end of today. your time is 6:05. today the ntsb will pr

definitive cause in a gaithersburg plane crash that a killed a mother and her two children. in its preliminary report, the agency said ice may have played a significant role. documents reveal the plane encountered icing conditions while trying to land at the montgomery county air park in december of 2014. the three men on board and marie and her two young children inside the home were killed. the. chvirginia state troopers s a fredericksburg woman was traveling down the runway at stafford regional airport when she unintentionally lifted the plane off the runway and crashed. row bear bettberta is in the ho should recover. metrobus driver still in the hospital with serious injuries. montgomery county fire officials say the bus slammed into a tree after it collided with a pickup drug. ten passengers with less serious

it would bring in nearly $100 million to the county. a d.c. man accused of forcing a teenage boy off of metro and sexually assaulting him face as court hearing today. d.c. police say dominic simons robbed the boy and made him get off the friendship heights metro station last month. prosecutors claim simmons forced him into a bathroom. he's charged with sexual abuse, armed robbery and kidnapping. outrage after what some say was a ridiculously lenient sentence.judge sentenced a former stanford swimmer to six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious female student in 2015. brock turner was convicted in march, but his sentence just came down. in a statement his father expressed disappointment saying jail time was, quote, a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action. >> 20 minutes and

buses that just pulled up and we expect people to get off and get on the trains momentarily. this is the first station inside the beltway on the orange line and so it is a critical point here. we expect more federal government workers to be in the mix to impact the system that is already at reduced capacity. this part of maintenance lasts until next week on thursday where the orange and silver line trains are running every 18 minutes between vienna and new carrollton. >> so no problem, but it's usually takes longer. but i didn't face any major problems yesterday. >> reporter: metro of course bracing for another busy commute. we saw a lot of confusion on the platforms yesterday so day they're promise to go have more people out plainiexplaining wha going on. back to you.

dry weather on your way out the door, but you may a little umbrella if you're planning on doing anything outside mid part of the afternoon. no severe weather, though. a little bit on the breezy side and quite a northwest wind coming in tonight in to tomorrow. for now though there is that plume of tropical moisture from tampa bay to the outer banks of north carolina. there is tropical storm colin, it will stay well off 6 of our coastline here. biggest impacts will be just rough surf and maybe just rip currents. so be careful if you dare to get in to the water. otherwise the rain from associated with colin only as far north of virginia beach. our rain chance is coming from this cold front here, doesn't have much along it now, but with the addition of daytime heating, that front will come right on to the i-95 corridor about 2:00 this afternoon. so as a result, bam, here is future weather by 12:45, showers developing.

hill hearing to improve passenger screening and address terrorism threats. recently the agency has come under fire for long wait times at the security checkpoints. a metro bus driver is recovering in the hospital from serious injuries. he was pulled from his bus on east-west highway. officials say the bus slammed into a tree after it collided with a pickup truck. ten passengers with less serious injuries were also taken to the hospital. the truck driver tells news 4 he plans to contest a reckless driving citation police gave him. the frederick county sheriff's office says speed and failing to follow a traffic control device likely caused an a tv to crash head-on into a car near michaels mill road. 21-year-old chris mundy died. the atv driver, a 29-year-old, is in the hospital in baltimore. two people in that car were taken to the hospitals, as well, their
