virginia. detectives are on the scene where a deputy was shot this morning. this is joshua anthony stumford. the original call was for breaking and entering here. when they arrived, the suspect started to shoot at the officer and hit him several times. we don't know the extent of the injuries but we are told they are serious. and they are looking for joshua anthony sumter known to frequent the southern part of safford county. they say he's armed and dangerous and asking anyone who comes in contact with him or know him to get in contact with him. if you do see him, call authorities immediately. still they are piecing together exactly what happened here as we get information on the deputy hit, the extent of his injuries and whatever else we can ascertain from the sce

>> reporter: the clarksburg high school community is just waking up to this awful news of lead to students killed in a horrible crash the night before graduation. it was bad, the pickup truck they were riding in slammed into a tree. the pictures you see here, the truck is absolutely manageled. police say the crash happened at 11:30 last night. and for some reason, at this point police say they don't know, it just crashed into a tree. it happened on burnt hill road near king ststead road. police gave us the names of the three students, jacob dennis who was 17, he was%u 2>h dri shiplet, 18 years old and carey green, 17. we don't know in the boys were seniors but the clarksburg high school g

windsor ridge court. this is a townhouse development. take a look at this picture, this is the suspect now in custody. now the sheriff's department said they arrested him half an hour ago. we don't have details about that arrest but we do know he's in custody. he's been identified as joshua anthony sumter who is 18 years old and arrested on the warrant of attempted capitol murder. this is after police or sheriff's deputies responded to a call for breaking and entering here on windsor ridge court late last night. according to the deputies and sheriff's department, when they got here shots were fired by the suspect, several shots, striking that deputy. we understand he was injured seriously and taken to the hospital. we expect to hear details about his injuries and more on this incident. but again, the suspect is in custody after a sheriff's deputy is injured answering a call to breaking and entering on windsor ridge court in stafford, virginia. detectives remain on the scene and we'll have more details as they become available. derrick ward, news4, back

we have breaking news out of georgia. two f-16s have crash in the state. the south carolina international guard said the jets were doing night flying operations when this happened. the pilots were able to eject safely. the air personnel are investigating this. and a neighborhood is calling for immediate changes to a deadly intertexas. emotions ran high inside walt whitman high school last night as community members talked about what to be done to make the intersection safer. last february three family members were killed and a fourth seriously injured. one of the options includes closing the road and installing a traffic signal. >> it doesn't take that much money to do a good solution to force people to slow down. >> and the community members say a change to the intersection needs to happen as soon as possible. and it needs to be done right. 6:16 now. a criminal complaint has been

takata air bag. it's the first case in that country related to the massive recall. it involved a woman who wasa$fã injured in an accident where her suv crashed into a truck last year and her air bag improperly burst. takata says it is cooperating with the investigation. we have learned the name of a woman who die in a tubing accident on monday. the jefferson county sheriff's office identified her as 40-year-old katrina meeks. she was tubing on the shenandoah river when her tube was caught on something. meeks fell in the river and never came up. rescuers were able to save five of her family members. if approved in november you will spend more the next time you dine out in fairfax county. yesterday the board of supervisors voted to put a meals tax referendum on the upcoming ballot. the tax calls for an extra 4% on prepared food for restaurants and

the county says it will generate $100 million for schools and capitol projects. and by 2020 minimum wage workers will see their pay increase to $15 an hour. d.c. joins a number of states approving high minimum wages. the minimum wage right now is $10.50 and the jump is expected to start in july. and florida governor rick scott is concerned that standing water will become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. scott is asking for federal disaster assistance and is[rd urging people to clear their homes of standing water. zika is associated with severe birth defects and those concerns are impacting the olympics right now. several athletes have pulled out and some of the leaders of the games are responding. the olympics head of communications said that he would respect
