it's friday, june 10th. coming up on "early today," a whirlwind day for the democrats as president obama throws the full weight of the party behind hillary clinton and bernie sanders gets in line. the nation prepares for a memorial fit for the man known as the greatest of all time. nbc exclusive and david letterman goes one-on-one with our own tom brokaw. slow jamming the news with jimmy fallan on "the tonight show" and the news of the very bizarre. all of that and "early today" starts right now. happy friday to you. good morning. i'm betty nguyen. the leader of the free world and the head of the democratic party is finally throwing his full support behind a single candidate to take over as president of the united states. in a highly produced three-minute video, president obama lays out the case

hillary clinton has the judgment toughness and commitment and experience which make her one of the most qualified candidates to ever run for office. >> i know how hard this job can be. that's why i know hillary will be so good at it. in fact, i don't think there has ever been someone so qualified to hold this office. she's got the courage, the compassion, and the heart to get the job done. >> clinton reacted telling bloomberg news, quote, it just means so much to have a strong endorsement from the president. over the years of knowing each other, we have gone from fierce competitors to true friends. the clinton campaign released the president's endorsement video just minutes after he sat down with senator bernie sanders a meeting that left the idea of party unity on sanders' mind. >> donald trump would clearly, to my mind, and i think the majority of americans, be a disaster as president of the united states.

wednesday in green bay, wisconsin, the home of republican house speaker paul ryan. the most recent nbc news/"wall street journal" poll shows the president with/" a 51 approval% rating nationally anda 88% approval rating among democrats. now donald trump was quickat to react to the president's endorsement on twitter saying, obama just endorsed crooked hillary. he wants four more years of obama but nobody else does. to which, the clinton campaign replied, delete your account. and those three words are now the campaign's most retweeted so far. but it was another key endorsement that overshadowed the clump/trump feud. elizabeth warren endorsed clinton with the exclusive announcement on msnbc "rachel maddow." >> he ready for hillary clinton to become the next president of the united states and to make sure thatec donald trum

george's county are looking for the man in these photos. they believe he sexually assaulted a woman in landover early yesterday morning. they say the suspect followed the victim from the new carrollton metro station into a business and attacked her. 4:29 now. today there will be a hearing for a man charged with attempted rape of a woman on a moving metro train. police say it happened in april on a red line train near the glenmont station. the victim says 39-year-old john hicks held her at knifepoint and tried to rape her. the woman says he forced her to perform a sex act on him. police say he also may be responsible for an unrelated sex assault in montgomery county. discrimination is moral. >> human rights for our children. >> outraged parents voiced concerns about transgender students in fairfax county public schools. the board agreed last year to include transgender students this i
