news 4 live at the new carrollton metro station for us. >> reporter: barbara, there are lots of surveillance cameras in the area, and the suspect was captured by some of those cameras. and the pictures are really very good. and he's also wearing very identifiable clothing. take a look here. the suspect is wearing a red coat with a cross or a plus on the back and on the sleeves. as well as black track pants with a white stripe down the side. this happened around 6:45 yesterday morning right as rush hour was getting under way. police believe the suspect followed his victim from new carrollton metro station to a business that's located in the 4000 block of garden city drive. so that's not far from here. it was at that location where she was sexually assaulted. now, we've been talking to women here this morning at the metro station. they say it's disturbing and rather surprising.

police officer caesar goodson. >> they need to be aware of the medical dire situation of freddie gray and didn't take him to the hospital. >> news 4's chris gordon is in baltimore covering the case against goodson. >> reporter: prosecutors appear to know this is a must-win case for them. the first two baltimore police trials ended without any convictions. prosecutors are presenting witnesses against officer caesar goodson to show he was reckless and deliberately ignored his duty to protect freddie gray's life and safety. goodson drove the police transport wagon where freddie gray suffered his fatal injuries on april 12th of 2015. prosecutors say goodson gave him a rough ride, running a stop sign, turning so fast that the

they say goodson didn't restrain gray with a seat belt in violation of police general orders and that he failed to get medical help when gray said he wanted to go to the hospital. but the defense says gray caused his own injuries if he hadn't stood and banged against the van, he'd still be alive today. of the six baltimore police officers charged in the death of freddie gray, only officer goodson is on trial for murder. the stakes are high, and it will be up to the judge without a jury to not only hear the evidence but decide the verdict. reporting from baltimore, chris gordon, news 4. just into our newsroom, a second person now charged with the death of a woodbridge man. we now know ricardo thompkins and abdisalalm. police say at least one of the

his roommate. we're going to have more on this story coming up first at 4:00. back to you. thanks, erika. prince george's county police arrested two brothers in connection with the death of a man on castle wood place. investigators say decar lo and dickerson were apparently involved in some sort of fight with jones. he was found dead behind the house after police came to do a welfare check early thursday morning. and we're working to get a response from fairfax county public schools about its transgender policy. the board agreed last year to include transgender students in its nondiscrimination policy. parents who oppose the plan say they didn't get proper notice. some started yelling when they couldn't sign up to speak last night. the policy includes allowing students to use the bathroom of their choice. >> to me it is a big deal. i recently went on a field trip with my class and i wasn't even allowed to use the female bathroom at the museum that we went to until all the girls in my class cleared the

>> the school board did not make any decision about the issue. well, as we here in washington continue to celebrate pride week in the nation's capital, we pause now to reflect on some of this year's highlights and what's still ahead for capitol pride week. joining us this morning, the president of the board of directors for the capital pride alliance. and we also have chelsea bland who just won a big award, you are the volunteer coordinator for capital pride and got a heroes gala award this year, congratulations. >> thank you so much. >> this has been a really busy week for you, hasn't it? let's talk about what's happening and what's still to come. >> it has. it started on june 1st with our heroes gala and went through last weekend. and we had a rooftop pool party last night and tonight we're having the opening party at union market. >> and it's your job to get volunteers to make all this happen. has it been a lot easier this year than in years past?

of fun to help recruit folks to come out and volunteer with us. folks are still signing up and they still have the opportunity to. so as folks get into the week they're really excited to join us and help us out with all of our activities. >> and where do your volunteers generally come from? >> we have our website, there are places for folks to sign up. when i first started volunteering with capital pride, that's how i found out about it. so we're on facebook and social media. and so friends and family reach out to folks and volunteers as well. >> i think that's some of the parade from last year, isn't it? >> it is. the parade is tomorrow, kicks off tomorrow at 4:30 near dupont circle and ends up by logan circle. >> who are some of the exciting guests that you're expecting tomorrow? >> well, we have leslie jordan, who i believe is going to be in the studio in a while. >> in a few minutes. >> he is our grand marshal and washington capitals holtbe marching for the first time and representatives from eight of them

one another, right? and to just build all the synergy we possibly could to be able to go out and win games on sunday. >> excellent. we're excited for it. of course skins fans like us, it's always great to see d.c. teams supporting each other. you know bryce harper is often seen around town wearing his redskins hat and you are going to be at the nats game tonight. tell us what is taking you to the game besides watching baseball? >> i'll be at the nationals game celebrating national jerky day, #nationaljerky day. almost three decades it's been around. no one really knows about it. but, hey, i'm here to spread the word and spread the love about national jerky day. it's all about krave jerky, they've been huge supporter in my life. it's an honor to be able to stand beside them and just celebrate something so special. we're giving away 25,000 bags across the united states. >> 25,000? >> yeah. to bring awareness to jerky and how important it is.

>> vernon davis, thanks so much for joining us. >> thanks for having me. >> go skins, not too early to say that. >> no, it's not. and right now the world is getting ready to say good-bye to the greatest. funeral services are set to get underway in louisville, kentucky, for muhammad ali today. you're taking a live look at the procession. fans have been lining up all morning as the boxing champ goes through his old neighborhood one last time. the procession will end with a public memorial at an arena. hollywood stars, sports greats and world leaders will be among the crowd. former president bill clinton and billically chr ically cryst the people who will give eulogies. >> people come from all around the world to pay respects to mohammed because he meant so much to everyone. >> he stood for strength and wanted to encourage everybody tooted same. >> ali died at the age of 74 last week. the legend planned his own funeral service years ago.

the celebration of muhammad ali's life. we will have it streaming on the nbc washington app around 2:00 this afternoon. and you can watch for an nbc news special report once the eulogies begin right here on news 4. the man known as mr. hockey has died. th news of gordie howe's passing comes in the last several minutes. hall of famer spent most of his career with the detroit red wings. he won four stanley cups in his 1,767 games played remains a record. gordie howe's passing today at the age of 88. the last day for anyone claiming to be an heir of the late-singer prince to get their paperwork in. prince died last month but did not leave a will. court documents list six siblings or half siblings as heirs to the singer's

there's no listed value of his assets or debts. a police officer showed up at his door with his 6-year-old son, now a fairfax county father is demanding changes at his son's elementary school. the boy wandered away from london town elementary earlier this week. he said he was in the bathroom when his class went to recess. when he couldn't find them he walked out of the back door of the school. he went a whole mile before someone saw him and called 911. >> worst case we wouldn't have christian here today. and i guess that's part of the reason i wanted to meet with you is to make sure the community is aware. >> the school says it has already made changes to its recess supervision policy including more frequent role calls before and immediately after recess and increased vigilance throughout the campus. and happening today, an area music instructor facing child important charges is set to be sentenced. david battle ii was arrested

pornography videos in his home. police say a man exposed himself to a teenage girl as she walked to the bus stop. here's a look at the skemp of a suspect. it happened after 7:00 a.m. thursday morning on fair haven avenue. that is in the alexandria section of fairfax county. the 17-year-old told police a car pulled up next to her and she saw the driver expose himself. he drove off and then the teen immediately told a parent who called police. and right now roads are closed and hundreds of people have had to abandon their homes because of a growing wild fire. the fire in arizona is about 10 times as big as when we told you about the yesterday. now it's about 5,000 acres wide. firefighters say they have the fire 10% contained this morning. fema is providing financial assistance to the fire departments that are fighting that blaze. and today new possible debris from malaysia airlines flight 370, this time it was found in southern auz trastral . the other side of the indian ocean thousands ofes

get in your lane. i'm like, sir, it's two lanes -- i'm like, two, just trying to show him two lanes. i rolled my window down -- a d.c. woman says a terrifying and violent road rage incident started when another driver thought she crossed into his lane. well, markita driving down south 15th street in pentagon city when a man drove up behind her, threw something at her car and cursed. >> arlington police say that man was 55-year-old timothy duboix. once they were stopped at a red light, he got out of his car, hit her and pulled her out of her car. she says he kept hitting her while her 11-year-old son watched. >> and then he took my hair and he began to, you know, bang it on my truck. and so my son was screaming, get off my mom, get off my mom, get off my mom. >> she says during the

we now know the name of the pedestrian that was struck yesterday in ellicott city, only 17 years old and the driver of the pickup truck that hit him apparently was an on-duty employee of the howard county recreation and parkser

that the driver was at fault in this case. but again, that 17-year-old individual still in critical condition at this hour after being struck yesterday afternoon in ellicott city, back to you. thank you, erika. at 11:30 new concerns about the zika virus as more cases are reported in our area. 25 people in virginia have contracted the zika vis. the state health department says that number is up by five cases from just last week. mosquitos that can carry the zika virus are found in 40 states now, and here in d.c. as well. > the world health organization meanwhile says women living in places with zika should consider delaying pregnancy. zika is rapidly spreading through latin america and caribbean. the agency's guidelines could impact millions of couples who live in outbreak areas. zika can cause severe brain defects in

right now at 11:45 we look at thousands of people pay their respects to muhammad ali. the boxing legend and inspiration to so many died a week ago today. this is the scene in louisville, kentucky, where his funeral will be held this afternoon. you can watch nbc's special report starting right here on news 4 at 2:30 this afternoon. we'll send you a breaking alert through our nbc washington app so you know when to start watching. richmond's police chief promises anyone who breaks the law at tonight's donald trump rally will be arrested. these are scenes from protests in california last week. officers in richmond have been preparing around the clock for tonight's rally at the richmond coliseum. that rally comes after both donald trump and hillary clinton hold events here in d.c.

ingredients, now, this is a national dish, right? >> this is a national dish. this is something in every single house you will find. >> and barbara will think she eats it all the time, she has it at her house. tell us all about how to make it. >> basically it's simple, i have dough here, 80% corn starch, 20% flour. >> okay. >> so you have very chewy final product. it's a lot of butter, and again tons and tons of butter. >> and then you bake the cookie. >> you can roll it with a rolling pin, however as my mom always doing she's doing it with hands. >> do it mom's way, that's the best way. >> exactly. so basically use a cookie cutter, so you'll basically get one and then you bake it at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes. >> do you have to let it sit out or anything like that the dough? >> a little bit. rest for 20 min
