someone who, quote, dared to love black people at a time when black people had a problem loving themselves. right now, we're streaming the entire service live in the nbc washington app. now to an attack that police say started when a man followed a woman out of a metro station and sexually assaulted her inside a business. this afternoon we're seeing new video as police search for him. darcy spencer is at the new carrollton station and has details for us now. darcy? >> reporter: bwe just got ahold of that video late this afternoon. it shows the images of the man they're looking for in connection with the sexual assault. you'll see him on the left side of your screen walking toward the camera in a red jacket. and he does appear to be walking what limp. photos show he has some sort of cross or emblem on the back of that red jacket. he followed a woman from the new

morning to a nearby business where that woman was sexually assaulted in that building. police are hoping to get a tip that will help identify the man you see in that video. >> she noticed that he had a limp? >> he has a distinctive limp. anybody wearing that particular jacket, those particular pants, and walking around with a distinct limp, we would like to talk to that individual. >> reporter: coming up at 5:00, you're going to hear from some very concerned riders, concerned about safety on and off of metro property. police arrest a teenager who twice tried to steal someone's care at the mailer road metro station early this morning. the armed suspect demanded the keys from the victim around 4:45, but after the 17-year-old jumped behind the wheel he couldn't start the vehicle. the suspect took off on foot, but then returned and tried to start the car again. that's when police caught him. the sus i

attempted carjacking. more contentious moments in decision 2016 today as the presumptive nominees from both parties wrap up their primary campaigns in the district. donald trump is heading to a rally in richmond. he thanked christian voters at the faith and freedom road to majority conference. some protesters had to be escorted out of the building. before the speech, trump lobbed some more online jabs at hillary clinton and elizabeth warren. he called clinton crooked hillary and warren pocahantas.

clinton tapping warren as a running mate. it is the second day of testimony in baltimore of officer caesar goodson's murder trial. we're getting a better sense of freddie freddie gray's injuries. chris gordon is in baltimore. >> reporter: to get a conviction in this murder trial, prosecutors have to prove when and how freddie gray died. today maryland medical examiner dr. carol allen took the stand. dr. allen testified that freddie gray suffered a catastrophic injury in the police transport wagon. it's driver officer caesar goodson is charged with second-degree depraved heart murder. the manner of death was homicide. she says the injury couldn't have happened by gray banging

defense contends. the medical examiner's opinion is that gray's neck was broken because of abrupt starts, abrupt stops, and abrupt turns. ahead at 5:00, how the defense cast doubt on some of the medical examiner's testimony and may have weakened the prosecution's case against officer goodson. that's the latest from baltimore. back to you. a second arrest this afternoon in last saturday's murder in woodbridge. a man was arrested wednesday in syracuse, new york. the two men are accused of shooting one of their roommates. both suspects are in jail awaiting extradition to virginia. faa inspectors will be checking the ground-based electronic signals that support

metro received 16 shiny new rail cars last month, but riders on the blue, orange, and silver lines won't be seeing them anytime soon. the trains can't handle the steep curves along those metro lines. part of the car that draws power from the third rail can lose contact in a steep curve and cause the entire train to shut down. that's apparently what happened in the tunnel outside rosslyn last month. metro decided to pull those cars from the blue, orange, and silver lines until the problem can be fixed. there are 128 new cars operating in the system, however, right now. we have a quick reminder about metro's

>> we heard at least nine shots in that video all fired by police. officers say it began with a domestic incident. they say a man was throwing rocks at a car driven by a mother, the mother of his children. when officers approached, they say the man lunged at them and they fired. the man was hit four times, but we don't know his condition. lines at security are massive and huge delays are expected into the evening. now we've checked our three regional airports. it appears there are just a few delays on flights to dallas. give your airline a call before you head to the airport. i'll be back at 5:00. the u.s. capitol complex is another step closer to meeting the government's own standards on accommodations for parents.

we're watching the ceremony honoring the late muhammad ali, an interfaith ceremony going on right now. we're waiting for eulogies to happen. the man with an amazing sense of timing in the ring and with his words. muhammad ali never lost the words. just an amazing speaker who wanted people to love each other. he said he wished americans would love each other as much as they loved him. >> yeah, a lot of people were introduced to him as this brash olympic champion, one of the most confident, loquacious athletes of all time, but then he became so much more, taking a moral stand against the vietnam war, and then coming back to reclaim that heavyweight championship. later years he developed

the energy as more than 20,000 celebrate muhammad ali's life. the start of the service, it was delayed by almost an hour because of the huge crowds that have gathered across this city. a public memorial that is really the end, as we talk about, to a week of tributes honoring muhammad ali right here in his hometown. louisville, back to you. >> we may have seen the last of that sort of athlete as political activist to the extent he was. >> he was loved here and around the world. thank you, jay. meanwhile, in other news flames tear through a boat in maryland sending two people to the hospital. take a look at this video out of baltimore county. the massive flames engulfed the boat today. two victims went to the hospital with burns. a third person refused medical treatment. firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 30 minutes. new developments in tracking zika. certain mosquitos are able to carry the virus and a new map shows they can be found in a majority of states around the country. the centers for disease control and prevention released the map. two types of mosquitos can carry zika. here you can see where those bugs have been reported over the last several years. d.c., maryland

all on that map, but the largest concentration appears to be in the southeast. of the people known of the zika virus here in the u.s., they all contracted it while traveling overseas. in addition to metro's ongoing safetrack project, other maintenance work along the rails could also slow down your trip this weekend. so give yourself some extra time. all red line trains will operate every 12 to 20 minutes saturday and sunday. orange, silver, blue, and green lines trains will run every 18 minutes. don't forget during safetrack the rail system now closes at midnight every night. u.s. auto safety regulators are looking into reports of suspension issues in certain model teslas. >> owners may not be so forthcoming. >> susan hogan is here to tell us why is that. >> boy,

a nerve. it is examining tesla's model s for the possibility of suspension failure. suspension problems could cause the driver to lose control of the car, but there's another concern. the government says it learned of tesla's nondisclosure agreement. nhtsa informed tesla any language implying consumers should not contact the agency regarding safety concerns is unacceptable and expects tesla to remove its language. we reached out to tesla. the company says there is no safety defect with the suspensions and there's only been one complaint. tesla says it would never ask a customer to sign a document to prevent them from talking with nhtsa. they sign a goodwill agreement to make sure the company doesn't get sued later on. if you have a complaint about it, be sure to document it on safercar.gov. you can find the link on our nbc washington app.

details. darcy? >> reporter: well, jim, that attack did not happen on metro property. from what we understand, the woman had gotten off the metro here at the new carrollton station yesterday morning. she walked in this direction to a nearby office building and was attacked inside that building. late this afternoon we got a hold of surveillance video of the man they're looking for. take a look. the alleged attacker shown on the left side of your screen in a metro tunnel wearing a red jacket. police say he walks with a limp. he is wanted in connection of a sexual assault of a woman who was followed from the new carrollton station. >> anybody wearing that particular jacket, those particular pants, and walking around with that distinct limp, we would like to talk to that individual. >> reporter: the man was wear ag jacket with a distinctive red cross on the back. he followed the victim from the metro to an office b
