himself. grimmie was taken to the hospital where she later died. police are still trying to figure out a motive for the shooting. grimmie placed third in season six's competition. >> very sad. now to a developing story, working out prince george's county this morning. we know police there investigating a double homicide. it happened late last night. >> yes, and this was in 29100 block of guilford road in hyattsville where we find news 4's darcy spence irwir with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. we are on guilford rose at drexel street not far from university boulevard here in the langley park area of prince george's county. the men's bodies were found here in a wooded area behind an apartment complex last night. prince george's county police were called out here about 8:45 last night when they got here the two men were found dead with trauma to their upper bodies. we do not know yet exactly how they we

the medical examiner. sources tell me these killings appear to be gang-related. prince george's county police offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. live in langley park, darcy spencer, news 4. >> darcy, thank you. 9:02. investigators trying to figure out just how this happened. you're looking a the a van that's crashed into a store in college park. the store is just below a university of maryland student apartment complex. now, it happened just after 11:30 last night. the driver was not hurt, and there was no one inside the store. no word on what, if any, charges that driver might face. we've learned the maryland man shot by police outside a dallas airport had just been released from a texas jail earlier that day. he posted bond after police arrested him for reckless driving. the edgewood man was shot outside dallas love airport friday after investigators say he made

holding rocks in his hands. he told the officer, you're going to have to shoot. police say moments before that, he was pelting his ex-girlfriend's car with large rocks. this after she dropped him off at the airport. a chapter of the nation's first african-american greek fraternity kicked off campus at virginia tech. talks about alpha phi alpha paternity coming after allegations of hazing came up earlier in the year. the school is not releasing specifics except it allegedly happened in january. right now the alphas cannot return to campus for ten years. the paternity's national office will decide whether to revoke the school's chapter charter next year. today is your last day to cast an early ballot in the district. d.c.'s presidential primary is on tuesday and yesterday presumptive presidential nominee hillary clinton made a quick stop in shaw, but avoided questions about a potential vp pick. the day before, bernie sanders he a

racing concerns after a homicide happened in broad daylight this past week. neighbors packed a gym at a rec center in alexandria last night to talk with police. worried there may be retaliation or even more violence coming after a 28-year-old was shot and killed on wednesday. last night's meeting took place just a few blocks from that shooting. >> how can we make a difference, sort of at the ballot, also to help enable you guys to do your job? >> alexandria police are making progress in that case, they say, but are calling on witnesses to contact them. this is alexandria's third homicide this year. new numbers show overdose deaths from the opioid fentanyl have jumped significantly in maryland in just the past year. the state says 340 people died from fentanyl overdose in 2015. an 83% jump from the year before. in just the past two years deaths increased 12-fold they say. the spike is

we are learning more about a deadly plane crash near los angeles. fire crews saying two people were onboard this small plane that crashed into an apartment building. it was on friday afternoon. all residents of the building have been accounted for. nobody on the ground was hurt. both the faa and the national transportation safety board will investigate. a philadelphia judge is ordering the public release of sealed documents that might reveal details about a sexual abuse claim against penn state assistant football coach jerry sandusky dating back to 1976 and also may suggest what joe paterno may have known about it. multiple news agency asked for access to those documents. some information blacked out in regards to victims names. and taking town a suspected bike thief. we're serious. look at the pick color. he happened to have a rope with him. what we carry along with us all

remember him at brunswick high school in frederick county. there he worked as a custodian. time, 9:31. at today's home expo in d.c., mayor muriel bowser will hear recommend acheses from a group aimed at protecting affordable housing. the strike force is charged with developing an action plan to preserve the district's existing affordable housing covenant set to expire in the year 2020. those recommendations are being presented at 12:30, in a few hours, at the washington convention center in exhibit hall a. this as concern continues to grow. about just how many illegal apartments there are in the district. our nbc washington web team recently covered this story, and highlight add case from last year. two people were killed when a fire broke out in this unlicensed apartment building in north west. just yesterday the city launch add program that frees up millions of dollars to bring smaller buildings up to code.
