gunman omar mateen one of the soldiers of the caliphate in america. this just in. the orlando shooter killing 50, injuring 53 others. overnight the death tolls remain unchanged, but what we have seen are more names of those killed added to a city of orlando website. in fact 11 added in the past few hours. as we look live at the scene of sunday's shooting, a total of 21 people have been identified as of now they range in age from 20 to 50 years old. many of them latinos, not surprising given the shooting happened during a lat ten lat ten themed event. crews have working on removing and identifying the bodies of those killed. and we're working to find out whether federal agents learned anything from searching the shooter's home. they cleared neighbors from

pierce, florida concerned that omar mateen's condo could be rigged with explosives. officials are trying to determine whether terrorism, hate or both pushed mateen over the edge. and former co-workers describe mateen as, quote, toxic and racist. they reported him to the fbi twice because of the comments he made about radical islamic propaganda. law enforcement tells nbc news the 29-year-old swore allegiance to isis moments before the rampage. his father says the sight of a same sex couple kissing from n. front of his family recently set him off. many are waking up this morning hoping sunday's mass shooting in orlando was all just a bad dream. but this morning the entire country is dealing with the realization of it all. in our team coverage this morning, aaron gilchrist is on the ground in orlando for us with what the community is doing to move forward. >> reporter: this is the first monday after what was

in orlando. we know in the day ahead there is at least one large community vigil planned for the evening tonight, but through the day, we hope to get more answers from law enforcement broke their investigation and what they have been able to uncover about the real motive behind the shooting incident that happened here that left 50 people dead, another 50 plus people injured in hospitals across orlando. we did stop last night at a few places around town where people were gathering. some of the gay night clubs still open for business last night. a lot of the patrons saying that they felt the need to be around other people. they wanted to be together. this is a community that of course is quite sad gatoday, people trying to comfort each other. at the same time i think there is an effort to show resilience, to say despite what happened here in the early morning hours of sunday, this community still wants to show that it is strong, orlando strong is a hash tag trending on social media. so the community trying to show that ath

candles. and this morning more than 50 people are recovering from the shooting at pulse night club and people here want to know what they can do to help. megan mcgrath is live now with how you can assist. >> reporter: good morning. in the wake of this shooting, people have been turning out in large numbers to donate blood. take a look at this video. this was taken in orlando, florida hours after the shooting. you can see hundreds of people turning out at a donation center there. the line wrapping around the building. one donation center so overwhelmed that they actually asked donors to stop coming on sunday, instead asking them to make appointments and to come in a more spread out way over the next several days so that they could deal with the crowds. there are a number of donation drives happening in our area today. if you want to donate blood, it a look at the different locations. you can come here to the red cross on e street in northwest. the

crash will bury their son, patrick shiflet viewing and funeral will be at st. john neumann. last tuesday they were riding in a pickup truck in damascus, the pickup left the road and slammed into a tree. al three teens inside died. three people are in the hospital this morning after a chain reaction crash in montgomery county on lockwood drive in the white oak area. a driver lost control of his truck, hit two people and several cars. one of those cars ended up hitting other cars. the truck ended up on its side and firefighters had to save the driver. two pedestrians and the driver are in the hospital now with serious injuries. closing arguments e set to begin today in the trial against a virginia lawyer. andrew schmuhl is accused of tasering and stabbing a couple after his wyche was

yesterday who used the word shellshocked to describe how he felt and how some of his friends had felt. people here are -- no one thought that they would be making history when they went out saturday night into sunday morning. and now here we are looking at the deadliest mass shooting in this country's history. i was in virginia tech, at virginia tech in the hours and noons in the days after the shooting there. 32 people killed there and you would think that would be as bad as it could get and now here we are in orlando trying to make sense of what happened, not really able to make sense of it, at the same time looking for ways to comfort aech otheach ot. we saw a lot of strangers hugging each other in the streets last night. we went to one of the other gay bars here in town. they were all open. there was have a security, but people felt like they needed to be together, they needed to not sort of sit and stew. but to get together and try to comfort ea
