5:00 a.m. right now at 5:00, a desperate search after an alligator attack drags a toddler off near disney's grand floridian resort. more on that story in a moment. first, good morning to you. i'm eun yang. >> i'm erika gonzalez. we'll start with the story we just told you about with the information from molette green at the live desk. this frantic night search in orlando for a toddler snatched by an alligator and dragged into a lake. we just heard from the orange county sheriff who says more than 50 law enforcement officers will stay on this search for the 2-year-old. >> we are going to hope for the best in these circumstances, but based upon my 35 years of law enforcement experience, we know that we have some challenges ahead of us. >> now this attack happened near an upscale disney resort in an area where

may have tried to stop omar mateen from carrying out the massacre. >> with more on whether the wife could face federal charms, we turn to leanne gregg live for us in orlando. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, eun. federal officials say she is cooperating and that she is staying with her father-in-law. noor zahi salman lived two hours from the crime scene in port st. lucie with her husband and 3-year-old child. she said she had driven her husband by the club because he wanted to scope it out ahead of time. she tried to talk him out of his plan. authorities also have talked with her family in northern california. and her father-in-law shed some insight into mateen's possible state of mind. he said mateen applied to the police academy but was rejected and he had claimed that rejection was because he was muslim. so tt

back to you. >> leanne gregg, thank you. 49 people died at the pulse nightclub making it the worst shooting in the history of the united states. this morning we are also hearing stories of survival. many recall when the shooting started running into the bathroom for shelter. that's where dozens of people would be trapped during a three-hour standoff between police and the shooter. >> i look over and he shoots the girl next to me. and i'm just there laying down thinking i'm next, i'm dead. >> when i heard that explosion, i thought life was over. >> other survivors recall playing dead as the shooter walked around repeatedly shooting people. in the day ahead, the fbi's director will brief the senate top latest in the investigation into the orlando nightclub shooting. homeland security secretary jeh johnson will also be at the classified briefing today. the feds briefed the house on the investigation yesterday. t

the city of orlando. in d.c. there will be a vigil and fund-raiser on the north side of the white house at noon. at 6:00 p.m. there will be an interfaith service at the united christian parish in reston. and market square will also hold a vigil. and gw memorial parkway has now reopened after a crash between a car and shuttle bus near stratford lane. minutes after the bus left for a visit to mount vernon estates, one person was killed and more than a dozen were injured. police say the crash was head-on which forced the bus carrying chinese nationals to tip on its side, slide off the road. meanwhile, police say a dozen

passerbies helped to stop the injured. kristin wright has more on the victims at 5:15 this morning. turning to decision 2016 hillary clinton has won the final democratic contest, the d.c. primary. clinton defeated bernie sanders by more than 50 points. >> her win comes more than a week after she won enough delegates to be declared the presumptive democratic nominee. so the big question now, what does this mean for bernie sanders and is he preparing to get out of the race? sanders met with hillary clinton face-to-face in d.c. last night. aides say they had a positive discussion on how to bring more sbe people into the political process. sanders is expected to talk more about the future when he addresses supporters in a video message tomorrow night. now while there are some questions that still remain in the democratic primary for president, things are a lot more concrete for the local races in d.c.

actually at nova fairfax this morning, a level one trauma center so people who were hurt the worst were brought here. three were critical. the bus and a car collided head-on on the gw parkway at the height of rush hour near stratford lane. the bus rolled over landing on its side and slid trapping passengers. the u.s. park police say the person who was killed was under the bus. the bus was carrying visitors from china. 13 bus passengers were injured and the two in the car were also hurt. this morning the parkway is back open and the investigation continues. police are looking for witnesses and also good samaritans. coming up this morning at 6:00, their heroic actions. live in fairfax, kristin wright, news4. back to you. returning to the terror attack io

now to the officer on trial in the death of freddie gray. in court prosecutors are recreating the route the officer drove the day he transported gray. they say the blood stains found inside the van did belong to gray. but in a win for the defense, the police detective testified he never saw the transport van make any abrupt stops. that disputes the prosecution's claim that goodson gave gray what is known as, quote, a rough ride. gras i d gray died last year after breaking his van inside the transport van. and now sentencing is set to begin tomorrow for a former military lawyer convicted of nearly killing a mcclain couple. jurors found andrew schmuhl guilt of all seven charges. the attack was revenge against
