right now at 6:00, a heart breaking tragedy in virginia. a van carrying 16 people rolled over, killing six, a child is one of the victims. a. a new push to deny donald trump the presidential nomination at the gop convention is gaining steam. i'm darcy spencer live in german town where a muslim another and daughter believe they were the victim of a road rage incident that turned into a hate crime. i'll have a live report. >> announcer: news 4 at 6:00 starts now. i'm kristen write in for erica gonzalez. tragedy along interstate 95 in virginia. a van crashed, killing six people inside. no

figure out what went wrong. it happened early this morning before halfway between fredericksburg and richmond in caroline county there on your map. 16 people were inside this van. it appears no one was wearing a seat belt. the van rolled off 95, moved back across the road and hit a car before flipping at least five times. no one in the car was hurt. the six people killed in the van include four men, a woman, and a child. state police have not released their names until their family can be notified. a mother in & daughter in montgomery county believe they were the victims of hate because of the religious head scarves they were wearing, and this ugly encounter began as a road rage incident. news 4's darcy spencer is in germantown now where police are looking at pursuing hate crime charges. >> reporter: that's right. th

weeks ago here at germantown road and father hurley boulevard. the muslim mom and her daughter, 17-year-old daughter were in the car. the mom was driving. the light turned green but the car in front of them did not go immediately. so she honked her horn and that set off this whole thing. you are seeing a picked of their car after they say the suspect in the car doused their car and them with an oily substance. they are saying they were followed to a nearby business and that's where there was this confrontati confrontation. she says again the suspect doused her with the i will oil all over the car as well as the daughter and the mom. and they believe this may have been some sort of massage oil but they are not sure. they say the woman also used answered muslim slurs and told them to go back to their own country before grifing away. the victims were wearing muslim head scarves called hi jabs.

situation you should bring something be like that with religion, race, sexuality, anything like that should be brought up because it's personal. so it was hurtful. >> we want to make sure the law enforcement is taking this incident seriously and they are doing everything they can to make sure not only the prerp traitor in this particular attack is brought to justice, but also that this doesn't happen to other muslims or any other person because of their gender, race, sexual orientation, what have you. >> reporter: police identified the driver who was the suspect in this case. she is now facing assault and malicious destruction of property charges. montgomery county police say they are pursuing potential for hate crime charges in this case as well, kristen back to you. >> i'm sure we will be following up. police are looking for a carjacking suspect. it started last night at the walmart. police say jose granados pulled

took off. hours later, woodbridge police say they spotted the man still driving the stolen car. they say he made to it fairfax county, where police broke off the chase for safety reasons. police in d.c. eventually found the car, but not before the suspect ran off again. phase two of metro's safe track in effect. for the next 16 days a segment of the orange, blue, and silver lines in d.c. will shut down. news 4's derrick ward got reaction from riders, and you will see his story in about ten minutes. investigators say a construction worker may have x sexually assaulted a ten age girl in arlington. the girl says she was grabbed yesterday while walking home from school in the lion park neighborhood. police say she was on a sidewalk in article ton boulevard when man put his hand up her skirt and fondled her. when she screamed he ran away. he was wearing a white hat and brown work pants. ce

amelia? >> exactly right, kristen. spectacular today. if you like today, you will like tomorrow. the weather pretty much a carbon copy. it will be a few degrees warmer. but out and about today you probably noticed the low humidity levels. the humidity levels remain low tomorrow. monday it's hot. in the 90s for sure. and humid as well. our next chance for rain arrives on tuesday. chance of showers early. but the best chance of rain looks to be later in the day with showers and storms. more on that in a moment. right now we are in the 80s. 82 in the district. 80 in annapolis, 86 in leaseberg one of the warmer spots. our high today, 85 degrees. tomorrow we'll be near 90. here's what kind of temperatures you can expect during the evening hours, walking the dog, going for the jog. perfect, largely in the 70s. 9:00 p.m. around 75. midnight we are around 70 and we'll continue to cool into the upper 50s to mid 60s.

but we do warm up quickly. we'll have plenty of sunshine. only a few clouds around, especially during the first half of the day. but again, the low humidity levels greet us and they will stick around throughout the day. 84 degrees by lunchtime. 4:00 p.m., temperatures near 90. 89 will be our high tomorrow. nice tomorrow evening. 8:00, 82. a happy father's day to all the dads out there. out on the golf course, if the you have an early tee time it's going to be amazing. later on you will notice the heat, grilling or yard work you will notice the heat as well. it's to the going to be humid. humid forecast, tomorrow, pleasant. monday it will start to be a little bit sticky. by tuesday our humidity levels across the area at that uncomfortable level we are familiar with here in the d.c. area. monday a high of 92.
