morning. the sun has risen on what we're seeing as a marathon protest outside nra headquarters in fairfax county. you see people are starting to wake up now, but these protesters were actually out here yesterday, they showed up with 49 pink cards with pictures and the names of each of the victims of the orlando shooting there. code pink has been out here for this marathon effort. and it's after the orlando shootings. they want to step up efforts to see what they call common sense gun control. they say it's not about banning all guns. >> we should revisit the things that allow the repeated massacres to happen. items not because america has more crazy people, it's not because america has more bad people. it's because we have more lax gun laws than anyplace else. >> reporter: and there were counterprotests out here from

we just got this in, we now know what a man used to make a fake explosive belt before he entered a mall. salt and cookies they found inside the belt. we know that a second man has been taken into custody and is being questioned for driving this guy for the shopping center. as we take a look at video, you can see that there are people in the streets here. the lockdown at the mall has been lifted. police saying that the man was known to police for psychiatric problems and had a criminal history. at this point they are looking into this incident and whether it has links to terrorism or perhaps maybe it was a host. but brussels remains on high alert. that hasn't changed. today a maryland man

crash that killed his wife and sister-in-law. jerome wiggins is facing maximum sentence of 16 years in prison. in december of 2013, he was driving on the bw mark way in landover when he rear ended a pickup truck. his car slid on its roof for 200 feet. wiggins had a blood alcohol level of 0.19. two wildfires out west are coming dangerously close to turning in to one. this is video from the fish fire. it could combine with the reservoir fire as soon as today. in new mexico, nearly 1,000 firefighters battled the dog head fire. it scorched some 18,000 acres and forced evacuations. >> it's terrifying. you just want to run. >> overnight we learned some of the people forced to leave their homes in new mexico will be allowed to head

today sentencing will begin for an ashburn ceo found guilty of murdering his estranged wife. julie carey has more on who is expected to speak during the hearing. >> reporter: the jury that just found a wealthy ashburn ceo guilty of first-degree murder will return to the loudoun county courthouse at 9:00 this morning to begin a sentencing hearing. braulio castillo was found guilty of first-degree murder and breaking and entering in the death of his estranged wife miles per ho michelle. her body was found in the basement of her ashburn home hanging from a shower. prosecutors had argued braulio castillo had suffocated his wife and then staged her death to make it looks like a suicide. at the sentencing hearing, we expect prosecutors to call to the stand the couple's oldest son as well as the couple now caring for the four younger castillo children. possible penalties range from a minimum of 40 years in prison to two

angie goff at the live desk with breaking news. a live look from chopper 4, this isoff the scene of a barn fire. firefighters here in the 10,000 block of van thompson road in fair fairfax county station. we know they have been dealing with this for the last couple hours. you can see the smoke still rising from the heavily damaged structure as we pull out. we know heavier response on the scene because there is a rule area. they don't have many fire hydrants around, so they had to pull in a lot of trucks. no one hurt, though. we're till working to find out if any animals were inside the structure.

front of that bb&t bank is connected to the fatal crash that happened minutes earlier and less than a mile away. now, on friday morning at around 7:00, police say a toyota camry crashed and truck a flipped. havic to ae i victoria hitchens died at the scene. about a minute later, an suv crashed in to a utility pole. the driver stayed on scene, but witnesses told police that they saw three people running. we're told two people were taken into custody and drugs were found inside that vehicle. now, this morning at the 10:00, we are expecting to hear from montgomery county police with an update about this investigation. whether or not these two crashes are connected. and of course they tell us that they're asking witnesses who may have seen either of tohose crashes to can forward.
