when the markets open tomorrow. a teenager threatens a mass shooting at a local high school. he couldn't carry it out. wait until you hear the fire power police found in his house. another trial ends with no conviction in the death of freddie gray in baltimore. tonight legal experts weigh in. what does it mean for the next four trials and baltimore's top prosecutor? news 4 at 11:00 begins with breaking news. good evening. first to that breaking news tonight in west virginia. a state of emergency now in effect for most of that state after constant and devastating rain. >> the flooding has swept away two children. let's go to chris lawrence at our live desk. he's got the latest on the situation on the ground there. >> reporter: these pictures are scary as they are stunning. we are seeing massive flooding. 40 miles over the border from virginia. two people have been killed in the floods, including an 8-year-old boy and elderly man. this is a small town ofo

three thousand people and that is a house or part of a house on fire burning as it is swept away down a flooded creek in white sulfur springs. there are mudslides in some areas and pounding hailstorms in others. residents are reporting people trapped in their cars, others trying to swim to tess scape the floods. one of the neighbors posted on facebook there's a family trapped in their attic with small children and we know one toddler is missing after being swept away in those floods. the governor has issued a state of emergency in 44 of the 55 counties in west virginia. chief meteorologist doug kammerer is in the storm center. the question of everyone's mind, is the rain finally over in west virginia? >> yeah, the good news, the rain is finally over in that region. the rain really brought havoc early in the day today. we started to see the rain around our region, 5:00, 6:00, 7:00, it moved in to v with wv. they were in the warm

you can see the thouunderstorm activity. the storms continuing. flash flood warning in to west virginia, virginia and the carolinas. five to seven inches of rain fell in parts of west virginia earlier prompting that flash flooding. you put that together with mountainous terrain and it is a big deal. right now around our region, a couple of thunderstorms back to baltimore, hagerstown and frederick , a couple of showers. that's the moisture moving down with the frontal boundary. a couple of showers tonight. better chance of shower activity on your friday. i will break it down for you and show you the timing and have the weekend forecast as well. a search warrant lays out disturbing threats in text messages from a teenager to his ex girlfriend. >> one of those texts threatened a shoot up at a school an the teen apparently had the weapons to pull it off. >> jackie bensen is live in roosevelt high school in greenbelt, maryland

police found. >> reporter: this school was just one intended target of this very angry and very well armed teenager. search warrant documents revealed the school search warrant officer was notified of a threat of mass violence on june 15th by a former boyfriend of the student. the 17-year-old had texted her saying he was going to come to the school and "shoot it up." the student described weapons owned by her former boyfriend, some seen in a video he posted on instagram. with the help of d.c. police, investigators located the 17-year-old's home on 45th street in northwest washington. there, according to court documents, they located an assault rifle and ammunition as well as marijuana and what appeared to be a fake i.d. d.c. police chief cathy l. lanier revealed the investigation after a press conference highlighting the department's gun recovery efforts.

with that young woman and found an on-call emergency judge and interrupted his day. got an emergency search warrant and went and recovered an ak-47 from the individual involved and over 180 rounds of ammunition. >> the search warrant said the 17-year-old also threatened to shoot up the girl's home and her mother's work place. in addition to those charges, he's facing child porn charges for posting intimate pictures of the student on social media as an act of revenge. this is a fluid situation. we do not believe the 17-year-old is in custody at this time. so at this time we are not releasing his name. live in greenbelt, jackie bensen, news 4. >> thank you. top congressional leaders want a full review of what happened inside of the headquarters of the u.s. department of homeland security two weeks ago. the news 4 i-team broke the story about an employee with top secret security clearance who was arrested

loaded gun. a search warrant obtained by the i-team reveals the feds are investigating whether the worker was planning and attack in the building. our seth mcfarland asked about the investigation. >> has your office been briefed on that. >> we want more information but i'm familiar with the reports and we are awaiting further investigation. >> reporter: the employee's name is jonathon weinke. he was arrested and pleaded not guilty to unlawfully carrying a pistol. he is free pending his next court appearance. he has been barred from my homeland security facility. his attorney said his client is presumed innocent and will not comment. >> chris lawrence back at the live desk. we would be less than an hour from learning whether britain will leave the european union. it could affect everything from your mortgage to

plans. the the futures market nose dived in the u.s. and u.k. and nervous trading sent japan's market tum bleng. the issue is forcing immigrants in eastern europe and while staying seemed to be a conclusion, it is too close to call. if it leaves the eu, it could extend low mortgage rates in the u.s. or push them lower but that same volatility could cause fluctuations in our 401(k) programs, but if the british parliament falls relative to the u.s. dollar it could make a trip to the u.k. more affordable for your family. >> thank you, chris. peaceful demonstrations in baltimore after a third trial in the freddie gray case ended without a conviction. officer cesar goodson acquitted on all charges in the death of the 25 year last year. another baltimore police officer, edward nero wasu

porter and three other officers charged in connection with gray's death are facing trial. some legal analysts think the goodson case was the prosecution's best shot at a conviction. new tonight, our shomari stone has a look at where the case goes from here. >> i think we saw this coming. >> reporter: former prince georges county states attorney general glenn ivey and former federal prosecutor is not surprised that cesar goodson walked out of court today clear on all counts. the second acquittal of an officer charged in the death of freddie gray. >> the judge made it clear, based on the last trial, that he had not accepted the evidence that the prosecutors had presented. >> reporter: the goodson trial was a must win for prosecutors. the judge said the police van driver was responsible for freddie gray's safety but prosecutors did not prove that what the driver did or failed to do was a c.

marilyn mosby announced charges against the six officers. one ended in a hung jury, the last two not guilty verdicts. should the judge dismiss the next four trials? i assume the remaining defendants will file a motion with the judge saying you have decided the key issues in these cases already and the facts will be the same in the subsequent trials that are going to come up. they are going to be in front of you, all bench trials. given all of that, you should dismitsd these cases. >> reporter: the family is heart broken. their lawyer spoke as they stood by them. >> can you imagine the frustration? >> were these officers overcharged? >> it appears the judge thinks they were. >> reporter: we will have to wait and see what the judge decides next. shomari stone, news 4. democrats in congress breaking in to congress today. they

historic sit in on the house floor. tonight, police officer observers say it is not clear what they want. their push for gun control votes in the house failed. there's a glimmer of hope in the senate where lawmakers voted to allow more debate on a bipartisan gun control measure. that bill is not expected to pass. he said in recent days he knows he won't be the democratic nominee but bernie sanders said it is not going to stop him from campaigning. sanders hosted a rally in new york city entitled "where do we go from here?" he didn't drop out or endorse hillary clinton but said his focus will be on campaigning for other democratic candidates and congressional and local races. he said he will begin tomorrow with a new york congressional race before heading to california. new at 11:00 tonight, two firefighters were taken to the hospital after this crash on route 170. you can see from chopper four, the front end of an ambulance smasheft

tanker truck around 7:00 tonight. some lanes had to be closed at the interchange with route 100. the firefighters are expected to be okay. the truck driver wasn't hurt. also tonight, a woman is recovering after getting shot in front of roosevelt high school in d.c. it happened this evening at 5:15 on iowa avenue northwest. the woman does not live in the neighborhood an has no connection to the school, police say. detectives are trying to get more information frommer will. she is expected to be okay. fairfax county police arrested a man accused of moll let'si -- moll itselfing a girl. someone identified him as the suspect with an anonymous tip. he's charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery. in prince georges county,

the process won't be done until early next year and then the actual work has to be done. in the meantime, sandbags are being put in place to try to keep floodwater out of the station. wind, rain and lightning ravaged central virginia today. check out this damage in chesterfield county. where 7:00 this morning a red oak tree crashed in to this home. the tree destroyed a bedroom and office but no one was injured here. a wild week for weather across our region, doug? >> really has. we saw the worst of our weather earlier this morning. some damage in this area but not too bad. we saw heavy rain move out and behind it we saw some clouds but other than that not too bad as far as the weather is concerned. the biggest area of disturbed weather to the south, roanoke, green briar, west virginia, white sulfur springs where we showed you the flooding. right now tracking the cloud cover in our area. 76 degrees. winds out of

five miles an hour. walk outside and it is rather humid. notice where the temperatures are, in the 60s to the south. that's where we have seen the rain. we are also seeing that boundary to the north. we talked about this coming through at 10:00 or 11:00. doesn't have a lot of stuff going on with it. the biggest area of rain around baltimore moving in to anne arundel county. this move down 97. had a couple of showers last hour that developed quickly. montgomery county through the district, over to prince georges and right now watching that area to frederick . the area to the south, look at the thunderstorms still ongoing in to north carolina. they are moving out of west virginia. that could give them a little relief. it will be a lot of cleanup in to portions of virginia, as well. tomorrow, i think we see another round. this is a frontal boundary. we are watching another wave of low pressure that will move across the region. once again give us clouds and a chance of showers.
