and real estate investors could turn other places, but interest rates -- therefore your mortgage down. you can also start seeing wild swings in 401(k) portfolios, but not clear how much your retirement might be affected. developing this morning, a person is dead and alexandria police are trying to figure out why. the investigation shut up to part of the safeway parking lot on king street last night. let's go live to megan mcgrath with the latest. >> reporter: well, things are back to normal here at the safeway, but it happened in the covered parking lot area that you see behind me here. outside of the safeway on king street in alexandria. police are investigating what they are calling a sudden death. now, not a lot of information being released at this point, but what we can tell you is that at about 8:30 last night, police could be seen examining a mercedes suv that was parked in this lot.

appears were broken out, not exactly sure how that happened. now, i just got an update from the pio this morning telling me that there is nothing overtly suspicious, the medical examiner at this point is now trying to determine the cause of death. as we get more information, we'll bring to you. megan mcgrath, news4. today former fairfax county police officer adam torres will be sentenced to john gear's 2013 death. torres pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter who could carry a one year sentence. he has already served eight months in prison and would be credited with time served. torres is the first fairfax county police officer convicted in connection with a deadly shooting. and happening today, a bishop will go on trial for sexual assault. michael turner is accused of as suggesting a woman in his congregation while led the

miracle center of faith missionary baptist church. the victim also worked for the bishop. turner is charged with second degree assault, fourth degree sex offense and harassment. if you're taking amtrak this morning, you could hit some delays. amtrak's northeast corridor service between d.c. and new york this morning is operating on a modified schedule to c accommodate some track work. trains scheduled to learn before 5:30 this morning we're learning had to be canceled but we're not sure how this will shake up the rest of the day. we'll keep you posted. metro transit police need your help to find a man suspected of assaulting a woman on metro. police are looking for 25-year-old lawrence harris. investigators say he placed a a condom on a woman's shoulder about a month ago. it happened on a blue line train headed toward largo. harris did not show up to turn himself in yesterday

had that agreement with police. a man did turn himself in for molesting an 11-year-old girl at a target store. they charged 19-year-old brendan cordova with three counts of aggravated sexual battery. surveillance video backed up the girl's claim that a man touched her inappropriately. cueore he was identified by an anonymous tip. most of west virginia is under a state of emergency because of flooding. a house caught fire as it was swept down a creek. this is in white sulphur springs. flooding is also a major problem in allegheny county, virginia. at least two people have been killed in those floods including an 8-year-old boy and an elderly man. dangerous debris is now a concern, as well. >> it's really bad. a raging river. 500 gallon oil tappings and trash cans

full review of what happened inside the headquarters of a department of homeland security about two weeks ago. an employee with top secret security clearance was arrested for carrying a loaded gun. search warrant obtain by the iteam reveals the feds are investigating whether that worker was plotting an attack. scott macfarlane asked paul ryan about the congressional investigation. >> has your office been briefed? >> yeah, we're familiar with the reports. we want more information. but i am familiar with the reports and we're waiting further investigation. >> that employee's name is jonathan wienke. he was arrested and pleaded not guilty to unlawfully carrying a pistol. wienke is free pending next court appearance. federal prosecutors are asking the judge to bar him from any homeland security facility. wienke's attorney says his client is presumed innocent and will not comment. 6:14. today there will be a mental health hearing for the suspect in a metrobus hijacking. kevin loving

second-degree murder after he allegedly stole a metrobus and ran over a man taking out the trash. loving tested positive for synthetic drugs. a former dwun bar coach will learn his fate in a sex abuse case. charles young pled guilty to the abuse of multiple teenage boys. young served as assistant track coach at dunbar between 2013 and # 2014. he was arrested this 2014 after a vehicle came forward. fourth baltimore police officer set to go on trial in the first week of july for the death of freddie gray. that's despite another not guilty verdict. there were quiet proceed he tests around the courthouse and on social media after the verdict in the case against officer caesar goodson was announced. goodson was driving the police van when gray suffered a fatal speenl injury. some experts believe this will impact the out come of the remaining cases. gray's family says they are heartbroken that so far no one is being

we're really excited for the olympics in rio. and most of us will be watching the games from home. and now we also know that lebron james will not be going. he says he will not be playing for u.s. basketball team this august. he says he wants to rest his body especially after just winning the nba championship. james says the zika virus had nothing to do with his decision. he's already won two gold medals and a bronze in the olympics with team usa. and another story out of rio, we're getting our first look at the olympic village. as many as 11,000 competitors and half as many coaches could be staying right here in the towers. the complex involves a post office, a giant gym and high level of security. after the gain organizers say the village will be housing and they're already selling right now. they say this is the biggest olympic village ever. >> the district is

outside we go this morning, sun is up in a partly to at times mostly cloudy sky early this morning. we'll have a mix of sun and clouds during the day today. passing midday showers a possibility, but not necessarily a likelihood. here is rain just north of gaithersburg, south of frederick maryland, up towards hagerstown. nothing heavy. we're all dry here in the city. we have the sun out here in northwest washington. future weather carries most of those early morning showers out of the picture by 9:00 or 10:00. but with daytime heating and a lot of low level moisture, we could see a bubble of bubbling up of a few showers and there may be a thundershower or two especially shenandoah valley, parts of central virginia for today. just a possibility you'll get rained on. temperature-wise we're in the upper 60s now, we should be in the mid-70s by lunchtime and afternoon highs today should be in the upper 70s and low 80s. so a nice day to be outside today. hit and miss little shower

that was the moment police ended a 100 miles per hour american chase on the east coast of florida. police officers spotted a stolen car. when they tried to stop it, the car sped off. and a police cruiser lost control there. he spins out and crashed. the officer inside was not seriously hurt. as for the suspect, police say they had to taser him to take him down. it could take more than nine months to fix flooding issues at the cleveland park metro station. that was what riders had to deal with on tuesday. mary cheh says ddot will start a design process to improve drainage, but it won't be done until

we're continuing to follow the developing news out of great britain. some live pictures coming in this morning from great britain where we've learned just a few hours ago that that country's prime minister david cameron is planning to resign. that may be the biggest news, but there have been several overnight developments since britain voted to leave the european union. it was a close vote, 52% to 48%. the news sent stock markets spinning this morning. they plummeted in germany and japan. the pound lost 10% of its value against the dollar, putting it at its lowest point since 1985. several countries weighing in on britain's decision, many reaffirming their commitment to remaining in the european union. angela merkel is supposed to speak in just a few minutes. we'll keep an eye out for that. first

high school. one of the messages warned that he would quote shoot up the school. school resource officer was notified last week of a threat of mass violence. d.c. police were able to recover a weapon. got an emergency search warrant, was able to recover an ak-47 from the individual involved and over 180 rounds of ammunition. >> the teen's name has not been revealed because police plan to charge him as a juvenile. he also faces child pornography charges after posting a sexually explicit video of his ex-girlfriend online p. latest in a transgender battle in virginia. a federal district court has ordered the gloucester county school board to let gavin grim use the same bathroom as other boys. grim was born female but identifies as male. the moment comes after the measure went through several court proceedings. the aclu brought the lawsuit arguing that the school board
