>> this morning on "today" food, we're wrapping up our week long series. we have the author of the vegetable butcher. kara, you believe the vegetables should be the main part of every meal? >> absolutely, put them in the middle of the plant. >> today's meal will be eggplant. >> i love eggplant. >> i saw pictures. what are the ingredients first? >> we are doing grilled eggplant with a walnut basil pesto and balsamic production. >> okay. >> eggplant, inland tomatos. fine, also, i think the heir loom add color and flavor to the plate. >> first step, we're going to brush our eggplant with a little olive oil. you can do this with a generous smear on both sides, sprinkle it with salt. we are using a globe egg plant here. cut them into

we are being diverted after about accident happened earlier this morning. it was about 6:52 when police were called to the scene. a maryland state trooper on the northbound lane close to the jersey barrier on that travel lane, on a traffic stop. struck. ended up with five people injured including the trooper. trooper had to be taken to the hospital via helicopter. the cars are actually still in those travel lanes. so traffic as you approach democracy boulevard is being moved over into the local lane. so it is still moving but not at a very fast pace. the investigation continues into exactly the cause of this accident, but, again, we do understand that the maryland state troop her to be flown out of here on a medevac. other people transported to the hospital. five in all. we don't really have a breakdown on the gender, the number of cars and the people in the cars. and we hope to have that as it becomes available. again if you're traveling on i-270 north, expect
