we are being diverted after about accident happened earlier this morning. it was about 6:52 when police were called to the scene. a maryland state trooper on the northbound lane close to the jersey barrier on that travel lane, on a traffic stop. struck. ended up with five people injured including the trooper. trooper had to be taken to the hospital via helicopter. the cars are actually still in those travel lanes. so traffic as you approach democracy boulevard is being moved over into the local lane. so it is still moving but not at a very fast pace. the investigation continues into exactly the cause of this accident, but, again, we do understand that the maryland state troop her to be flown out of here on a medevac. other people transported to the hospital. five in all. we don't really have a breakdown on the gender, the number of cars and the people in the cars. and we hope to have that as it becomes available. again if you're traveling on i-270 north, expect

now to a developing story working in prince george's county this morning. five people shot inside a home in district heights. three of them dead. two women and a man. this happened around 9:30 last night on orleans avenue. at last check, the fourth victim is in critical condition. the fifth is in stable. no word yet how the five victims are or could be related. so far, no suspect information released, but police do not believe this was a random act. and to a developing story in germantown. five people injured including three children in a serious crash on clopper road near great see enka highway. it happened in montgomery county. fire add rescue crew cans tweeted out pictures of the scene. we're told three of the people are seriously hurt. both routes 117 and 119 were closed during the investigation. all lanes have reopened. and the investigation into the fatal train crash in manassas continues this

near godwin drive and wellington roads, west of manassas amtrak and vre station. last night prince william conty police confirmed one bern died. investigators trying to figure out how it happened. imagine this, driving down the street. all of a sudden the road opens up an your car drops. the couple in this car wasn't quite sure what happened until they got out and saw a metal plate had given way along wisconsin avenue. the plate was part of a pepco project in tenleytown. the car had to get towed away. no one was hurt. >> i looked at brittany. we dgot a little worried, then t stopped. we started to smell gas. opened up the door. got out of the car konchts have been a lot worse. it's not clear how badly that vehicle was damaged. there are questions over whether d.c. is doing enough to help preschoolers with special

but 15 years after her olympic victories she received some shattering news. >> my doctor found a baseball-sized cyst on my left ovary, and that quickly snowballed into any test that might be available to kind of figure out what was going on. >> reporter: married with a young son, shannon was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. >> and everything stopped. just my whole world stopped. >> reporter: doctors removed a mass in her pelvis along with one ovary and a fallopian tube. >> i was very, very lucky that they caught it so early. that is not the case with most ovarian cancers. >> reporter: ovarian cancer ranks fifth in cancer deaths among women and the american cancer society estimates that about 22,000 cases will be diagnosed this year. >> there are symptoms of ovarian cancer, and most women even at early stages have symptoms. they're just non-specific. >> reporter: the top four symptoms of ovarian cancer are bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, weight loss, changing in bathroom habits. shannon was able to give birth to another child after surgery and chemotherapy and

breaking news right now at 9:30. maryland state police investigating what led to a three-car crash that hurt a trooper. that trooper, we're told in stable condition at this hour after they say he was hit while on a traffic stop. three other adults and two children also taken to the hospital. a helicopter had to be flown in to the scene, but police say none of the injuries appear to be life threatening. prince george's county police are investigating a bizarre shooting. five people shot, three dead, two women and a man. no word on exactly how the victims are related. police do not believ

to flee a wildfire in central california have died. sheriff officials say the people were overcome by smoke outside their home. rescue crews plan to search nearby burned homes for other possible victims. nearly 47 square miles have been burned in the fire that continues to grow out of control. developing right now in prince william county, police are still investigating a shooting. officers went to a home in the 1600 block of fisher court and dumfries around 9:00 last night. a short time later someone went to an emergency room with a gunshot wound. then a second shooting victim found at the home. both transferred to a local trauma center. no word on their condition yet. police are still looking for a possible suspect. happening today, ddot hosts its first public meeting kicking off a livability stud any ward 7. starting in about an hour, at 10:30,

plumber elementary school in southeast d.c. neighbors will learn more on the study of the quality of life, improvements to transportation, sayy, connections to destinations and sustainability. and police say he threatened to shoot a teen and he was taken into custody thursday night. officers searched his home last week after he allegedly sent text messages to the victim saying he would kill her and her family then head to her school. police found an ak-47 and more than 180 rounds of ammunition. the victim attends eleanor roosevelt high school in green belt. the suspect's name has not been released, because he will be charged as a juvenile. a former dunbar high school track coach will spend the next 17 years in prison. charles young was sentenced friday. he pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual abu earlier this year. young admitted to abusing seven boys on the
