breaking off the top at 6:00. white supremacists and protesters clash in sacramento. six people stabbed. two of them critically injured. a brand-new nbc "wall street journal" poll painting a clearer picture of where the white house stands right now. i'm darcy spencer live on capitol hill where an early morning shooting left one woman wounded and several cars damaged. i'll have a live report ahead. want to show you a taped feed of the chaos in california's capitol after a violent crash between white supremacists and protesters.

rally. the problem started to erupt when counter-protesters clashed with the ultra right-wing groups that people say are white supremacists. that large fight broke out after people carrying sticks rushed into the area where the rally was being held. police broke up the fight and closed down the area around the state capitol. right now it's not clear exactly who was stabbed or who was responsible for the stabbing. fire officials say some of the injuries are critical, but everybody is expected to survive. we're going to stay on top of this story. you can head to the nbc washington app for the latest information as this develops. a new nbc news/wall street journal poll shows hillary clinton leading donald trump by five points, but voters

the final say. >> i've got a personal feeling about abortion, but the right role for government is to let women make their own decisions. >> the former virginia governor shared a good laugh with chuck todd with comments calling him boring. police looking for the driver of an suv that was involved in a hit-and-run accident. police say the suv turned into the path of the motorcycle on crane highway last night. the motorcycle rider hit the suv, flew off the bike, and died from the impact. the suv driver did not stop. gunfire erupts right near rfk stadium. the shots were heard last night near the intersections of 17th and independence. darcy spencer is live in southeast with the police investigation. darcy? >> reporter: well, erika, we are here on 17th street on the

where this shooting happened this morning. you can see the broken glass on the street from where car windows were shot out. if you take a look at the video, it is very compelling. you can tell someone fired multiple shots. many of those shots going into the windshields of cars from the front of the car to the back area. one of the cars that was shot has a car seat in there for a child. one woman was shot and wounded. she was taken to the hospital. i'm told that she is in good condition. let >> there was a shootout. it was like the okay corral at 2:00 in the morning. people decided to shoot at each other. when they did, they hit an individual and they managed to destroy cars and yet again terrorize my neighborhood. we were lucky last night someone wasn't

>> reporter: she got in contact with the chief of police immediately. now she set up a meeting that's going to happen this week. they're going to have a meeting at 7:00 on wednesday evening. she says the chief has agreed to attend the meeting and hear about the concerns that resid t residents have not only about the shootings, but other crimes that have been happening in this area. maryland state police investigating an early morning deadly crash involving a pedestrian in thermont in frederick county. police say for some reason a woman ran onto the highway directly in front of a tractor-trailer. the woman died immediately at the scene. millions of people taking part in gay pride parades across the country. the biggest one at the big apple. people felt a strong police

we are working to learn the identity of a man killed in southeast. he was shot just after midnight on waller place. the unidentified victim died at the hospital. no word on who shot him or why. our cameras were there as a tow truck pulled a car of a retention pond along the beltway in landover. it's not exactly clear what caused that car to go into the pond in the first place. nobody else was injured. montgomery county is using an unconventional way to solve its geese problem. it will euthanize 150 geese from two parks. the birds will be processed and the meat donated to the maryland food bank. the county says the feces that the birds leave behind is

the tysons corner and greensboro metro stations are back open after today's emergency response drill. first responders simulated a smoke incident on board a train. derrick ward has more on how things went today. >> reporter: they came out on crash carts. they came out on foot. they were counted and color coded based on their mock injuries. they emerged from the depths of a silver line tunnel. they just endured a simulation of a very real thing occurring on metro. a train filled with smoke. >> this is something we harp upon and just want to constantly train our people on. >> reporter: half a dozen local agencies and state officials and metro took part in this

gun. in maryland, the minimum wage is going up from 8.25 to 8.75 an hour. good evening. i hope you enjoyed your weekend. really nice weather not just today, but yesterday as well. our high today 86 degrees. more importantly low humid levels. now as we move on into monday, humidity starts to increase and we could be dealing with some late day showers monday as well as tuesday. wednesday and thursday looking really nice. not only are we going to keep it dry, but the humidity levels go back down. something we can't often say here in the summer in washington. tomorrow the weather having a low to maybe moderate impact on your day as we do track some hit and miss late day thunderstorms and higher humidities. skies become mostly cloudy throughout the day. we start off at 7:00 a.

around 67. by lunch, we're in the low 80s. mostly cloudy skies at that point. then scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening hours. we'll hit our high temperature of 87 degrees at 4:00, 5:00. as far as severe weather goes tomorrow, not a lot of that in the forecast, but any thunderstorms could be slow moving. first the timing. here we are at noon. notice some hazy sunshine. just about everybody still dry. maybe a thunderstorm back along the i-81 corridor. by 5:00 p.m. storms move into frederick, loudoun, and fauquier counties. that's some very heavy rainfall. that could lead to some isolated flash flooding as these storms continue toward the east. by the time the evening commute is over, 9:00, moving into the district notice just some showers at tt

some of you might not need the umbrella tomorrow, especially in the d.c. metro area, as storms move in after you're already home from work. as we head into the overnight hours, monday into tuesday maybe a lingering shower around. for the severe weather threats, tomorrow my biggest threat that i'm seeing would be some heavy rain that could lead to some isolated flash flooding. maybe some gusty winds in one or two thunderstorms. i don't think we're going to be tracking a lot of severe thunderstorm warnings across the area. what we are tracking is uncomfortable humidity levels on monday and tuesday. wednesday and thursday the humidity goes down. currently, we're in the 80s. 83 in the district. 81 in gaithersburg. 82 degrees in manassas. our official high today at reagan 86 degrees. our high yesterday was 85. upper 80s tomorrow and tuesday. wednesday a high of 84.
