white house faces a hearing today. court documents say that jesse oliveri told a secret service officer that he came to d.c. to shoot people last month. he faces 20 years in prison if convicted. the search is on for the suspect accused of assaulting a special police officer. here is a photo of the man accused of stabbing a special police officer at the giant on alabama avenue in southeast. it happened saturday when someone noticed that the officer -- notified the officer rather about a suspected thief. the officer then confronted the man who then pulled out a knife, stabbed him and escaped. if you know who this is or have any information that can help locate him, call police. this morning, maryland state police are investigating a hit-and-run that sent one person to the hospital. this happen at 228 in greenwood drive in waldorf last night.

ronald cruz swerved his car. he ended up hitting the other car and rolled his car several times. police say that unidentified car then sped off after the crash. cruz was airlifted to baltimore shock trauma and is in stable condition. right now, residents in west virginia are struggling to salvage what's left of their homes as they brace for a new round of heavy rains there. yards and roads filled with mud. devastating flooding is responsible for 24 deaths at this point. neighbors are turning to each other for help. >> there's some times you need to be the one who receives, but you can't stop giving. >> president obama has issue a federal disaster declaration for three counties allowing aid for temporary housing and repairs. firefighters making progress on a deadly wildfire burning through central california. the erskine wildfire is

an inmate who escaped from a jail in south carolina. three inmates climbed out of a window, stole a car and ran off into the swamp. we learn this morning that two of them have been caught and back in custody. the one still out there was in jail for violating probation. white supremacist and anti fascists groups got into a huge fight outside the sacramento capital. that fight broke out between 30 members of the traditionalist worker party and 400 counterprotesters. a cameraman and reporter were also assaulted by counterprotesters who said they didn't want cameras at the event. so far no one is arrested. a gun battle in southeast washington sent one person to the hospital. this happened saturday night into sunday not far from rfk stadium. one woman was hit by a bullet but is expected to be okay. bullets damaged cars near

this is after of 2:00 p.m., the areas in red and orange, that's where we could get the heaviest downpours and perhaps the strongest storms, 81 through hagerstown, martinsburg, winchester. one hour, they drift east of the blue ridge, into frederick county, loudoun county, western, extreme northwestern prince william, but a band of some heavier downpours, shenandoah, drifting aright along the blue riej there. that ban, as it gets toward the metro area, around 4:00, it weakens a lot. maybe a brief shower around 4:00 p.m. the metro area. the heavy downpours in the red and orange they stay in northern virginia through 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., then drift farther to the east. come into prince williams, stafford and culpepper. that's where some of the heavier downpours will be around 8:00 p.m. they slowly drift

the district, a fatal accident on 295 caused a bit of a mess today. >> let's check with molette green who has new developments. what's going on? >> reporter: all lanes back open. both directions moving quite nicely now. this happened about 30 minutes ago. we want to show you some video now. traffic got moving right after police towed away a car. one of the cars involved it was badly damaged. this was a head-on collision. it happened at 10:45 has night shutting down both directions of 295 for the entire night. that stretch shut down at south capitol hill street and malcolm x avenue at exit number 2. we know one person died in this crash. one person at the hospital. still working to find out what exactly led up to this horrific crash that reached into the

deadly flooding has devastated communities krool the -- across the state. dylan joins us live at one of most hardest hit areas on white sulphur springs. >> we're on main street on white sulphur springs. the crews have been out trying to clean up what they can since the rain stopped on friday. keep in mind this is a two-lane road but one of lanes has completely washed down into the creek because of the nearly 10 inches of rain that fell in just 12 hours on thursday. the good news is we have not seen rain since friday. we had all weekend to dry out, but the bad news is there's more rain expected later today. now, while we will see scattered showers and storms, the heaviest rain occurs in some of the hardest hit areas that could lead to more flash flooding. that's going to be a concern later today and why
